How much is it to have your location be a hot spot? I bet this is a killer way to advertise. Right now it might be extremely cheap.... one could advertise e.g. battery packs. Affiliate link on Amazon or drop ship... put up posters in the hot spots, with a little data sheet for what is the best for the buck, the longest batt life, and a qr code... brb going to do just that.

Basically, this is what some of the Facebook predecessors wanted to be, and what Facebook wants to make. But with Pokemon. It will be glamorously successful.

Also looking forward to the first pokebang datasheet. Not holding my breath but if anyone will do it we'll hear about it on here.

I had a thought while out today: a lot of these "pokestops" are in places with high traffic running alongside built up pedestrian areas; often tied to monuments which are in the middle of roads.

If someone were to use a "lure" on such a pokestop, it could very likely lead to multiple deaths. I can see Niantic facing a lot of legal heat in the near future.

This is a forum focused on masculinity. In my opinion, Pokemon Go is the anthesis of masculinity:

- Mindless distraction which has no value other than cheap entertainment
- Another excuse for people to spend time on their phones rather than connecting with one another, nature, or themselves
- False sense of accomplishment (i.e., you caught 100 Pokemon but still can't do a pull-up or run a mile)
- Fantasy world is a happy, fun, childish virtual reality (at least in flicks like Game of Thrones good people die and bad people win). The world is based on a place suited for women and children, where no one really gets hurt and bad things never happen.
- Doesn't require any real skill except walking around (online chess, for instance, requires actual strategy). Everyone gets a gold star for trying.

I rarely have time to actually sit down and take an hour out of the day within no distractions to play a video game; the funny thing is the only places where I have that luxury is when I've set aside an evening to spend with one of my plates!

A few nights ago she was in the shower (she takes a fucking long time to shower) and I fired up a dungeon crawler on her computer; browsing the forum even incognito from PC and WiFi connection I don't own I obviously considered much too risky. By the time she was done I was getting into it and enjoying it...so naturally she got pouty. "Ugh games" "This is so boring" "falling asleep here dude..."

I havnt played video games at my house in a while and was really tempted to buy an Xbox 360 just to play GTA 5. However I am NOWHERE where I want to be in all aspects of my life so that time could be spent with better things.

I might try out this Pokemon game but I dont plan on getting addicted to it, but the concept of it is amazing and takes me back to the good old days of playing Pokemon, Yugioh, Beyblade. Back when the times were better and more innocent and where I didnt have the cares of the world haha.

Every cute asian girl at the university near me is playing this game. This morning I was reading this thread at a sub shop, decided to download the game, and within 5 minutes I had two asian 6s at a nearby hotspot telling me to join Team Blue.

Unfortunately I wasn't planning on doing any kind of social interaction today, so I looked like complete shit and didn't get a chance to really talk to them. There's probably a lesson there.

I'm laughing at the guys who are too cool and too alpha to play a smartphone game. I go hiking, I lift, and I read "classical philosophy" (As opposed to that new-fangled modern philosophy that the kids these days are reading!) I've got QC's "On Duties" loaded up on the same phone that I play the game on. All of these are good things to do. But somehow I can still spare the time to spend an afternoon walking around a university campus, getting some fresh air and finding pikachu.

If you're not interested in the game, cool. Everyone's got different hobbies. But while you're writing posts about how alpha you are, I think I'll be joining the Race for the Pokebang!!

BTW, how do I level my pikachu up? I got a pikachu and I don't know what to do with it.

While I've never played(and probably won't) it sounds very interesting and it gonna make Nintendo (marginally) richer. On the other hand, it will make people more oblivious to their surroundings. When I see those people in the streets, I don't even move for them: I run into them and chastise them for not looking. They never talk back because they know it's true.

^Find more Pikachus and sacrifice the weak with the transfer button to the professor. Catching more of the same species of Pokemon and sacrificing gets you candy. You use candy and stardust(which you get from catching Pokemon as well) to level them.

You can also evolve Pokemon with a certain amount of candy for the species of Pokemon you caught.

SRB -- I'd recommend that you evolve Pokemon before leveling them up. Leveling needs stardust as well as shards -- stardust is relatively rarer, while evolution only requires shards.

Also, about the Pokebang, pull your socks up. I'm *probably* getting the notch tomorrow afternoon.

Many gyms have already started putting up super powered Gyradoses here. Gyrados and Vaporeons do look pretty cool.

Edit: By the way, in the spirit of Jones's post, do ya'll have any corny Pokemon pickup lines? Post em here. I'm planning on doing a few approaches tomorrow evening. Might be fun.

Never understood the hype around Gyrados, even when Red and Blue were new. It's looks nice but:

1) Magikarp is a bitch to use in fights until it evolves

2) As a water and flying type it's very susceptible to electric-type attacks (2x the damage if I remember correctly).
