Mid-Life Crisis Double Standard

Quote:Quote:

Women fear judgment. Not just from other women and (alpha) males at the top of society, but any man who has the respect of other men (which is just about everybody). Women have a herd mentality. They worry what their friends will think and say. Women go to their friends to acceptance and support.

A great quote from Rousseau:

"Reputation is the throne of the woman; but it is the grave of the man."

Women need approval from others because they themselves mostly incapable of getting what they need. A woman's source of power is almost entirely from her reputation.

But for men, worrying about what others think of you all the time is the mark of the beta. You can't get laid wondering if she likes you or not. You can't create a breakthrough seeking acceptance about your new ideas.

Men who are most rewarded are the innovators who blaze their own path. But it is completely opposite for successful women.

Mid-Life Crisis Double Standard

So, at the end of the day, it would appear that women, though they seem to have everything on lock (dominating college demographics, feminized media, earning more between ages of 20 and 30, etc) are really just being used.

Yes. Surprisingly it is much easier for advertisers to "use" a female, because they can apply to her emotions which shut off the logical brain. You know, it is hard to sell a new perfume to a man by showing him a video of an old fat ugly dude who explains how he was a virgin but now married a young hot chick because he used a perfume. No matter how many emotions you put into that ad, it will fail as even the dumbest redneck would laugh his ass at such bullshit. However turn the genders around, and you'll get your typical female ad which works quite well.

The trend is actually larger than that. There is another group which is even easier to be used - teenagers (of both sexes). And while there are few things they can really buy (or persuade parents to buy), in a few years they will grow up, and further fuel up American consumerism, buying things they don't really need, and living from paycheck to paycheck to pay for them, while making rich people richer.

The powers that be who control things (I'm guessing that these are largely male) simply exploit them in order to feed an economy dependent on consumerism. They pander to female interests and propagate some philosophies(the ones we complain about here) all in order to keep the money flowing in.

Do not forget that it takes into account the situation which is quite unique to America - when a female does not work, but still has access to her husband's money (often she even controls them), and can spend them as she wishes. We all know it is much easier to spend the money you didn't have to work to, so the push as simple as "you deserve it!" is all which is needed.

The promotion of certain things like the cougar phenomenon might seem silly at first, but they are profitable. Women who think they don't need men at all and end up trying to follow the Carrie Bradshaw model of life are women who will be independent and larger consumers at the end of the day than they would be under the auspices of a more "traditional" lifestyle.

The aging issue has always been a major pain for women; they always complained that older men can get younger women, but older women cannot get younger men. So the media listened, and improvised. Now older women are being sold a reality that they really can have a young, rich stud who'd love them because they're such an amazing person. However, there is a catch - men are shallow creatures who need to be attracted by looks and only then they'd have a chance to learn what kind of gorgeous soul she has and fall in love. But it is easy to get into that point, SPAs, clothes/shoe designers and plastic surgeries are at her service, and the more she spends, the closer she is to her dream stud romantic 25yo millionaire.

Feminism and all of the ideology surrounding it that seems anti-male actually just makes it a bit easier to profit from female spending habits(more single/empowered women = more spenders), while changing very little in the practical mindset (ex: 40 really isn't the new 30, regardless of how much you repeat it).

It actually is - if you think that "40 is new 30" is presented the way "you can look at 40 very close as you looked to your 30" (of course, you need to spend money on certain things, but it worth it - after all, you're not carrying your money into your grave, so live NOW)

Actually I enjoy watching the current marketing trends here in America. They fit very well a cold, calculating nature of such a motherfucker like me.
