Never understood the hate against Ronaldo. He's a great player and exciting to watch, both of which are understatements. Must be sheer jealousy.

Yep they are - Dalmatia (especially the Dalmatian Hinterlands, from which the girls are mostly found in Zadar, Šibenik and Split) has some of the prettiest women in the world, let alone the ex-Yu area. I'm not exaggerating here, the quality is very, very high and obesity rates are still very low.

However, they are bitchy and entitled on a level that rivals USA, Australia and Canada. You'll find it quite instructive when I say that I found it more pleasant to game Australian than Croatian girls despite the large difference in looks. You have been warned.

Hands down, they are.

But, as HCE already mentioned, they are slightly more arrogant than average. Probably due to:

- them being aware of their high SMV
- being hit on by many foreigners all the time.

If someone likes that type, there are many girls of that type (and good LTR material, by the way), further inland, away from the sea.

Serbian girls are hands down the hottest from ex-Yugoslavia, followed by bosnian and slovenian women and only fourth they come the croatians

I've been to all of the countries and have to disagree... Serbian girls are of course very pretty, but nowhere near as much or consistent as coastal Croatia (and I say that as an extremely non-nationalist person).
Even the inland parts of Croatia already start fading compared to the coast, let alone those of landlocked Serbia. But what is lost to plumpness might be reversed due to the Serbian society still being relatively patriarchal and less infested with piercings and tattoos, so I'm of course not going to disparage Serbian girls. They're still close to the world's best.

Maybe we should solve it the old-fashioned way instead?

That has to be one of the most colorful descriptions of Split I've heard. Unfortunately it's pretty accurate, although I have to admit I kinda liked the place when I visited last summer. Has a certain ghetto-like charm.

Agree. I find he's quite a decent guy, when compared to some other football super-stars. He refuses to drink alcohol because his father was an alcoholic, doesn't want any of those ugly tattoos on him as it would prevent him from donating blood (which he does regularly), he donates for charity on a regular basis and usually keeps a low profile and doesn't brag about it, he's practicing his Catholic faith he was raised into...there's not a single thing wrong about him.

His only 'problem' is that he's a wealthy world-class athlete who fucks supermodels. Haters gonna hate.

And I have to say, I'll miss the three games per day schedule we enjoyed during the first two rounds. 5 more hours to go until this evening's game...

Yet people still think that Ronaldo is better than Messi... it's not even close. In the 2 games so far he has been AWFUL and that's not awful compared to his usual standards, he has been a genuinely awful player.

Missed 2 easy chances against Iceland, missed an easy chance and a penalty against Austria. Not to mention the ridiculous shots and free kicks that go nowhere near the goal, and he also completely disrupts the attacks by demanding the ball at every opportunity.

I think I can now say that Ronaldo is holding this Portugal team back, especially in the group stages. They have some good young players, perhaps dropping him to the bench would give his planet sized ego a kick up the arse too.

Now on to England. I was talking to a mate about where we think it's best to finish, and we eventually decided that finishing first was the best option. Although it would mean potentially a harder round of 16 match, it would give an overall more easy route to the semis. If we finished second, it's likely we would have to play France in the quarters.

Therefore we need to win against Slovakia, who also need to get a result so it should be a good game. I'd like to see Wilshere come in to the starting XI, as well as Vardy and Sturridge.

There are plenty of wealthy guys that fuck supermodels who people like and admire, in the case of Ronaldo people don't dislike him because of those reasons but because he's a complete and utter tool. Reading or watching an interview with him is cringe worthy, he's so full of himself.

Agreed. I basically only watch football during the Euro or World Cups so I only have those events to make an assessment of him and so far he has been absolutely horrible most of the time he plays for the national team. I'm sure he's a very good player during the regular season, otherwise he wouldn't be paid so much and be so famous, but I everytime I watch a game I think "so why is this selfish cry baby considered such a football god after all?"

I agree that he's holding back the Portuguese team, I've been thinking that for the past 6 years, we would do better with him in the bench but he's considered as the second coming of Christ in Portugal, him not playing is simply not even a consideration on anyone's mind, so until he retires I don't think Portugal will do much, I'd love for him to prove me wrong.

Wow saying Ronaldo should be on the bench must be the dumbest comment I've seen in a while. Yes let's put the guy on the bench that breaks all time goal scoring records and is considered to be one of the best players in history. Even on this European cup, he is still easily the biggest threat in his team.

And he is hated mostly because of the way he looks, he looks very arrogant and because he is extremely passionate about football, making him angry during games, making him cry after important losses etc. And he has a huge ego indeed, which many people seem to dislike (I personally don't understand this second part, I think having a strong ego is a positive factor).

I think in general he is not a bad guy at all, he gives the most to charity of all athletes, seems to consider being a father and a good son as the most important things in life, does not give a fuck about press criticism on his personal life and is an ambitious extremely hard working guy.

I'm not a fan of Ronaldo's attitude in general, but I still recognize him as one of the best players in the past decade.

In his defence, I can understand how he missed the penalty. Even if he's one of the world's best.

I think some of you guys may be underestimating the effect overwhelming pressure has on your performance.

When I used to play years ago, forced to take a playoff deciding penalty, I told myself all I would do is pass it into the right corner, on the ground, as if I had a teammate waiting for my pass there. No force, all precision.

I still put it into the back of the net, but I was lucky as hell. The shot went in the top right and was mere inches from hitting the post. In that occasion, what would have happened if I had aimed for the top right?

Of course this is just an example, but it is a relevant one.

Did you guys see the missed penalty kick by the Venezuelan dude against Argentina? He tried a Panenka, GK Romero picked it up calmly. Talk about embarrassing...

Interestingly, I recently watched an u21 game between France and England. In the English team, 6/11 of the starting XI were white, and 6/7 players on the bench were white. This is kind of similar to the mens team.

For France, 2/11 of the starting XI were white (and one was the keeper). And on the bench 2/7 were white.

At younger age groups black players dominate in England. My theory is that they develop physically earlier, so are better than their white counterparts at a younger age.

How about his hattrick against Armenia for a decisive 2-3 qualifying win? Or his goal in the 1-0 win against Denmark? His goal in the 1-0 win against Armenia at home? That's 9 points in qualification phase you can attribute to Ronaldo. Stop debating like a child and use logic/facts. Ronaldo might not be as good with Portugal as he is with Real, but neither is Messi with Argentina or Zlatan with Sweden. He is still by far their best player.

I don't give a fuck about Ronaldo, I'm an Atletico fan. I just don't like seeing people saying dumb shit on this forum and joining a mass hate for a guy who objectively speaking is not all that bad. That's girls behavior.

It has more reasons than that. What you say is true, but I think a bigger factor is that basically the street squares and parks where people develop superior technique are immigrant dominated. For instance a Moroccan immigrant son who likes football (they pretty much all do) will be out all night after school playing football on the street, a French kid will be much more likely to be playing on his computer inside. Interestingly in Belgium for instance at young age almost all the best players I knew growing up (I played decent level) were Moroccan or black, however in the first division there are almost no Moroccan players. Due to mentality/cultural problems/tactical discipline many talented players don't reach the final stage. But you can ask any guy who the best players are on the street and they will say they are Moroccan. Some of those talents still get through and then they can go very far, fi Fellaini, Chadli, Carcela, ... The ones that really seem to use physical advantage are the Congolese/Nigerian players. Lukaku at 14 was already a physical beast and got picked up by the biggest club in the country, Benteke the same. The Nigerians the same but more based on speed.

Predictions for Wales and England games?

I predict Russia will get ugly off and on the pitch. Can the Welsh Dragon survive a bear mauling?

Vardy needs to be given opportunity and I believe the left wing will help him do this.

Russia have been pish, Wales could beat them I think. 1-0 or maybe 2-0.

England, 6 changes in starting line up, is Woy mental. Bit of an important match for that kind of shit.

Slovakia are a good side, but maybe England are a bit stronger. Think match has possibility of being a Desmond (2-2) but more probably 2-1 England. Vardy and Sturridge both to score.

The different permutations for the group are staggering.

Let's be honest, all 3 of Slovakia, Wales and Russia have played the most negative, defensive football against us. As has happened to other teams in the euros, the difference being that we don't have someone like Payet to bend one in the top corner. Again, all that was missing tonight was finishing and the fact that Hodgson did some silly substitutions. Why take off Wilshere and Lallana (our 2 most creative players) to bring on Rooney, an off-form Alli and leave on the shite as ever Henderson?

Finishing second isn't the worst thing in the world though. We will play 1 of Iceland, Portugal, Hungary and Austria. All of those teams are beatable. However we would likely play France in the quarters, which would be a tough game. However it may actually suit us to actually have an opponent that won't play attrition football, where we can use pace on the counter. The only question would be on whether our defence is good enough.

Russia simply isn't as passionate about football as other countries are. It's popular, don't get me wrong and we will cheer on our national team but it simply never took as strong of a hold there as it did in England or Brazil, for instance.

Russians are also naturally pessimistic people so when we assemble a team we already have very low expectations for them. No one is shedding tears in Moscow right now over our performance in this Euro, believe me [Image: lol.gif]
