New York & Las Vegas - accommodation

Hey players,
I am a 25yo guy traveling for the first time to New York City and Las Vegas in the second half of August.
I am going there with a male friend and we're going to spend one week in NYC and the second one in Vegas.
Purpose of the trip is to do more sightseeing in New York (plus, of course, clubbing at night) and relax/gamble/pick up chicks in Vegas.
We were thinking about renting a 2-room apartment via airbnb in NYC, and probably getting two single rooms in some 4-star hotel in Vegas (I've seen that hotels are rather cheap there).

Which districts would you recommend? Of course they have to be as close as possible to the hottest night-life spots [Image: biggrin.gif]

Many thanks.

I've taken a quick look on airbnb and Manhattan is definitely too expensive. I was thinking about booking a two-bedroom apartment in BROOKLYN. Any piece of advice with regard to the nightlife in that district?

Re: NYC

Don't bother if you're going to stay/be in Brooklyn

It's Manhattan or nothing

Unless you're into hipsters and that kind of scene

City (Manhattan) is where the money's at and consequently the hottest hoes.

Search for more info.

I made a post in there as well

Many thanks for the info.
After searching other options in Manhattan, I have found a 2-bedroom apartment located in Harlem (upper manhattan).
The reviews on airbnb are excellent.
Any thought with respect to that district?

Brooklyn is alright, certain areas of it are lively with talent but yea, Manhattan is better. More specifically, south of 125 street; preferably south of 59 street but not the southern tip as in Financial District. Best areas logistics IMO are between 14 street and Canal street.
If your option is Harlem, it is alright but only slightly better than Brooklyn; you'll commute to other midtown/downtown areas for nightgame.
PHD, Top of the Standard, Gasenvort rooftops in Meatpacking do get some eye candy, usually social climbers, but I think there might be a lot of hype that does not match the end result: pulling in. Do daygame a lot when sightseeing because that might turn out to be better than one thinks.

NYC

Do not stay in Harlem. If you want to go out, being in the lower part of Manhattan is important for your logistics. West Village, Soho, Lower East Side, and East Village are all areas with decent nightlife, so finding a flat there would be best.

Don't go so far south as to be in the Financial District. It becomes a ghost town after work, so really pick one of the neighborhoods I mentioned above.

Clubbing in NYC (and Vegas) is expensive. In NYC, there are tons of cool bars and lounges around, which can be easier on the wallet. If you have the budget though, the clubs can be an epic experience. There are many datasheets on the site, have a search and see what others have written.

Definitely pipeline via online apps, and have Happn run while you're there. NYC is literally overflowing with beautiful women, so as long as your logistics are on lock, you'll be all set.

If it's East Harlem I'd be a bit hesitant (If it says, for example, E 110th Street vs. W 110th Street) - kind of ghetto.

Personal anecdote: took a bus from East Harlem to Electric Zoo (music festival) during the middle of the day like no later than 2pm and there was some fat white chick high off her ass literally crawling around on the ground in only underwear making fucked up animal noises

But I understand budget restraints.

I don't know Harlem well since I am a suburban pretty boy aka not from the hood but Harlem has gotten nice in recent years. IMO the area right above Central Park is pretty nice - lots of decent restaurants and stuffs around there now. You will probably also be better off being on the West side of the city vs. the East if you plan on taking the subway at all (unless they opened up that other subway line on the East side - maybe it helped with the incessant delays and congestion). Also, Meatpacking District - high-end clubbing district as discussed, is on the West side. Try staying below 14th Street ("downtown") if at all possible. My philosophy is if you're coming to New York and won't be back for a while, might as well do it right. Midtown (say from like the 30s-60s) is just a tourist/office worker hellhole and Uptown (everything above that) is either ghetto or too far from things like nightlife (there are bars like on the Upper East Side since more young people are being pushed uptown and to outer boroughs because of housing prices, but I don't think there are really clubs).

Of course if you want to be by the Meatpacking clubs... stay in Meatpacking.

Personally, I would stay in Greenwich Village/West Village. In terms of nightlife, it's more of a bar scene (West Village) but has a nice vibe vs. Meatpacking/Midtown/other areas which feel a little soulless ("concrete jungle") and there are lots of hot young students and such (NYU) walking around (Greenwich Village). Also wouldn't be too far from Meatpacking (maybe ~10 minute cab ride depending on where you are)
