Huffington Post editors meeting

(I haven't seen this posted on this forum, and a search didn't produce any hits, so I am posting this item which I believe is worth mentioning here)

Astonishing lack of self-awareness by the editor of the HuffPost, who actually tweeted this shot in an attempt to show the amazingly diverse nature of her editorial staff:

Huffington Post executive editor Liz Heron posted a photo to Twitter Friday, giving a behind-the-scenes look at an editors meeting.

The photo, which showed a table full of mostly white women, was evidently meant to show workplace diversity.

But Heron might not have thought things through, as there was an immediate backlash to the lack of males or people of color on the Huffington Post editorial staff.

The office politicking in a room of all women must be fierce. I bet it's just non stop constant snark, pop culture memes, and mood swings. Then you'll have little cliques where noone does anything.

I don't think anyone was surprised by this. Looks like an entire company made up of "Becky the marketing girl."

2nd from the left looks like she's wearing one of those "glasses with fake nose" disguises...

edit: there's lots of diversity, you just don't see it. There's a lesbian, a man (see "2nd from left", above), a vegan, another lesbian, a different kind of vegan, a not-really-lesbian-but-willing-to-try, ...

Or taking selfies, or stopping to pose in selfies, or taking another selfie because Sarah didn't look good in that one, or writing about the selfies they just posed in, or posting said selfies, or tweeting back at people who comment on said selfies, or writing articles about the implications of said selfies, or talking about girl power.

Also talking how men are useless, or creepy, or stupid, or how the Patriarchy is keeping them all down, how they're only getting 77 cents on the dollar, and when Jane leaves the room they'll all share a laugh about how she's gained weight recently, has a tendency to suck a lot of dick when drunk-- the shameless slut, and dear god, do you see what she's wearing today?

Basically, no work.

It's all fun, selfies and girl power until real work needs to be done.

And they wonder why women aren't signing up for the Navy SEALs.

It's a bunch of young, college educated white and asian american women, aka the two most privileged groups of people in history. I would assume that almost all of them are only 3-4 years out of college at the most, which means they're dumb, naive, and dirt cheap to hire. But no blacks, no males, no old people, and certainly no diversity of thought. What a bunch of useless holes.

The have no understanding of media if they think that putting a photo like that on the net with such a caption is going to work out well for them.

This is so crazy, as man you basically have 0 chance working for that company - unless maybe if you are gay or a "safe" and supplicating beta. It's not really a problem if it's only one company, but I think a similar dynamic is becoming apparent in a lot of companies in the US. HR is generally all women, and more and more managers are female too, and many of them have this attitude that women deserve to be No. 1 (regardless of actual skills & accomplishments). I really think that as a man if you don't fit the very narrowly defined role that these girls (and the "men" who work there) expect of you, you can basically forget about being hired in such a company. So it's not only that increasingly "manly" jobs are disappearing (like physical work), but the feminized workplace also drives out many men who would actually be qualified for the work, but simply don't fit in.
