Free to Roam. Where would you go?

G: wasn't figuring in taxes, assumed 60k take home. But even 40k take home, you could subsist in Manhattan. Wouldn't be pretty, but yeah, you could do it.

Honestly, I'd rather be broke in Manhattan than comfortable in Atlanta or Phoenix.

NYC is more than Manhattan. Why would people travel all over the world and not even think about Brooklyn or Queens?

Why would you want to live in either? Move to CT and find a good deal and hit the metro. Fairfield county folk love gov job types and you could score a sweet inlaw type place in Greenwich no prob.

I spoke briefly with a Colombian playa that was living for around <$120 per day in Queens, including rent. Sounds good to me. In the end though it depends on your quality of life standards. I've had to live in 20' shipping containers, so anything above that is gravy.

I agree absolutely. I felt no reason to visit Manhattan this trip. And none of the locals between Elmhurst and Queens said I was missing anything for nightlife there.

You can live extremely well in Chicago on 100k/year. Nice high-rise apartment downtown in a building with a dope pool, hot tub, etc. We have beaches here (right in the city, not 30 mins. out) that are super busy in the summertime. Obviously they don't compare to the likes of Miami quality-wise, but for being beaches in a Midwest city they're great. I guess the kicker is that you can only take advantage of them 4 months of the year.

My main gripe with Chicago (besides the winters, of course) is that the latinas here are super ghetto. Finding a classy one that could be girlfriend material is very tough. But I guess the good part is that ghetto broads like to fuck. So it's a mixed bag.

Lilseezie, we must be on the same wavelength because damn that is a true statement. Most Chi Latinas are ghetto. It's hard to find a classy one. Even the ones that have professional jobs have that hint of ghetto. This is why I usually go after the white girls.

But to get back on thread; you can go far in Chicago with 100K easily. Chicago is very underrated in a lot of ways. Honestly, if I had a nice fortune I would still live in Chicago for the summer months and book out during winter.

Haha this is very true. They've made it through college but they still live with their family down by Midway and maintain ghettoness by proximity. Such a pity, because there really are some Latin beauties here in Chicago...until they open their mouths or walk out of the salon with gelled curly hair and patterned fake nails.

Another city that shouldn't be overlooked is San Juan, Puerto Rico. As you know PR is a US territory, so living there is the same as living in the US (I lived there for 6 months). It strikes a very good balance between being Americanized but still feeling foreign and exotic. And the women...don't even get me started. Puerto Rican women (true Puerto Ricans that is...from the island, not from NYC) are among the best I've ever seen.

Surprisingly, not really. The gringo factor is non-existent in PR, so being white will do you no favors. Also, one-night stands are pretty rare in PR, as people pile into cars with friends and drive to the clubs in San Juan from all over the island. However, once you get a girl to go out with you one-on-one, I found kissing them to be fairly easy, with the other fun stuff coming after a couple dates if you play your cards right. But it also depends on the class of the chick you get - the upper class, US college-educated girls being trickier of course.

In summary, PR chicks can be a little tricky to crack initially, but once you're in you've got it good. I think the women are well worth it.

What do you want to get from the place you're living in?
Sex. A wife. Fun nightlife.

I voted NYC, because it puts me back home close to family and I'm thinking of starting my own family soon.

If I could pick anywhere in the US, I'd probably pick a tier 2 city out west or in the southeast. A nice place to start a family, and cheap enough to buy a big house.

I've got the dick so I make the rules.

Thanks for that input. I always figured that Chicago would be close to Washington DC as far being expensive.
