Importance of height

Importance of height

I thought the ABC article was good. It reaffirms what I've known for a while and as a short guy info like that is INVALUABLE. Because if we know what character traits are ASSUMED of us right off the bat, we can be the opposite of that and have a bigger impact than what a taller good looking guy could do.

I had a conversation with a girl friend of mine recently about guys she dates. She's 38, hot former reporter on a major network, and she was telling me that women have a radar for MEN who separate themselves from the pack of boys. When I asked her to elaborate, she had a tough time listing the specific traits she meant other than "confidence." She explained that it was a just thing you knew when you saw it, and it doesn't matter so much about race, height, whatever. A MAN WAS A MAN, PERIOD.

The reality is that even if you can break through that first wall, short guys still have to have super vacuum-sealed game because we'll get tested A LOT by her before we get it in. I'm sure that's with almost any guy, but shorter guys have a slight bit more of the wall to climb. It's not a bad thing...it just is.

My advice to shorter guys coming to the board: Don't play for the result. It might as well be a deadly sin to do so. Be completely comfortable with who you are by being the opposite of what the girls in that article above ASSUMED you would be.

Stop thinking the world cares. You are the only one convincing yourself that we do,and we really don't.

Stop "competing" for attention> you will get it from those who appreciate you for what you are.

Stop sizing your competition up. You are 5'4 , so why bother arguing/talking with men or women who want to make you feel like shit? Learn to deal with the realities of life. Don't imagine what it should be. This is not a race, and there is no prize at the end.

Don't think for a second that people don't notice when you are exhibiting signs of the Napoleon syndrome. We are all aware of men who have this problem. Learn to control it, if you have this problem.

Lastly, don't put yourself in a position where "height" becomes an issue, lest you become enraged with self-hate and evoke the spirit of Napoleon. If you realize your limitations, would you still go try out for the job of the starting center on a basketball team?

Most of overcompensating comes from your ego.
It is pretty hard to admit that nobody really gives shit about your height.

What are the signs of the napoleon syndrome? No one has ever called me it before, just short. I just usually just ignore insults.

Trying too hard to live up to certain expectations placed on you by society.
Competing when there is no competition
Challenging when the battle is already won
Inferiority complex
Proving/driving a point home just incase people were thinking otherwise .

It's all self -inflicted , with a cure as simple as examining ones self -esteem.

For the record, if you have this problem, both males and females see you coming a mile away. In other words, we know how you work, and why you work the way you do.
