Brisbane, Australia - Datasheet 2015

The other Brisbane datasheets on RVF straight up suck. Brisbane gets a lot of hate in comparison to Sydney and Melbourne (for reasons I can't come to understand) - but I can honestly say it is one of the best cities I've lived in as far as living conditions and ease of meeting girls in the 7-8 range. Unlike Sydney and Melbourne, the pick-up community in Brisbane is quite small - ie if you have any semblance of game you will do well here.

DAY ATTRACTIONS
For a long time Brisbane was severely lacking in far as things to do and places to see. This is no longer the case. With a population size of approximately 2 million people, Brisbane has the amenities of a large city, but with a distinctly relaxed low-key feel. It's not a hustle bustle type set-up.

As far as daytime city attractions go:

- Fortitude Valley
The main nightlife precinct. In the day-light hours there is often markets and food stalls set up. Bakery Lane is a unique little off-street which is a usual date-spot for me. The Tree House, for example, is a nice spot that does drinks and tapas.

Just a walk away from the clubs and bars you will find high-end retail, restaurants and bars in 'James Street'. Expect to pay serious coin for dinner or drinks at any of the venues here. The best that Brisbane has to offer in wining and dining (at a price). My personal favourite is Sixes & Sevens for an authentically Australian beer and burger operation.

- West End
Expect a lot of kitschy thrift shops and record stores. Also boasts a nice low-key nightlife district in comparison to the very busy Fortitude Valley in the inner-city's north. There's often international festivals and food stalls in this part of town, so good to keep an eye out.

- South Bank
Public 'beach pool'... restaurants a plenty... massive tourist spot. I like to day-game here for the surplus of European girls walking down the river. Nice place to have a barbecue and a couple of beers.

- Queen Street Mall
Your quintessential bustling city-centre/ mall set-up. Great spot to day game when isn't absolutely flooded with foot-traffic. Has H&M, Zara, Topman etc for all your clothing needs.

- Outer Suburbs

Sunshine Coast: https://www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/

NIGHTLIFE

Fortitude Valley

The main nightlife district. Appears very trashy at a first glance (what nightlife area doesn't) but there are plenty of fun, hip spots. Here are a few of my favourites (and not-so-favourites...):

- Alfred & Constance (Bar/ House party)
Main age demographic: 22-27
Cover: Free

Avoid avoid avoid. At first glance seems like a cool spot - the venue itself is actually a refurbished old 'Queenslander' house - but ratios here are ridiculous even in the early hours of the night. The quality is alright, but I'd say there's 4 (handsome) guys to every 1 girl at 11pm. You don't have to be a mathlete to know those odds aren't good. Ridiculously busy most Friday and Saturday nights to the point where you literally can't move at the upstairs bar. Smoking area far too small. A logistical nightmare.

Music is okay. Expect to hear a lot of party-starters and Kanye West. It's a shame because this used to be a go-to place 6 months ago for 18-21 year old girls to start their night at 9-11pm before going to one of the nightclubs. Honestly better off having a house party with your mates at home - not recommended.

- Brunswick and Anne (Dive bar/ student club)
Main age demographic: 18-40
Cover: Free

This place is seedy as fuck. I was going to do this list in alphabetical order but it's just going to write me off as a guy who just complains a lot. I'll continue anyway.

I think this is a place for people who actually just have no idea where to go in Brisbane. It's an eclectic mix of alcoholic 40 year old women, meth dealers and teenage European hunnies. The drinks are reasonably priced (including a $4 night on a Thursday) - but the reason it gets the kind of crowd it does is only because of it's prime location on the corner of the two main streets in Fortitude Valley. Don't waste your time.

- Laruche (Club/ cocktail bar)
Main age demographic: 18-30
Cover: Free

My personal favourite Valley venue on a Sunday night. The venue, music, staff and drinks are all top-notch and on Sundays premium liquor and/ or glasses of Asahi are $5. Draws a fun crowd that aren't just out to get fucked-up.

As far as the girls... they dress nicely to come here even though a relatively inexpensive night-out. Expect mainly 18-22 year olds and 27-32 year olds. I'm not exactly sure why. Have also met a lot of European girls here.

The main bar fronts as a chill cocktail-lounge set-up earlier in the night - but swiftly turns into a sweaty dark dance pit of tech-house as the night continues. Huge out-door smoking area to get a bit of space from the mayhem inside. Arguably has the best DJs in town (Seth Troxler recently played a 5 hour set here for free). Highly recommended.

- The TBC Club (Nightclub)
Main age demographic: 18-22
Cover: $10-20

Imagine a tiny dark rave pit full of hot 18 year old girls on drugs. I like it, you might not.

- Ric's Bar (Dive bar/ beer garden/ club)
Main age demographic: 18-30
Cover: Free

The quintessential dive bar. It's mostly hipsters in here but you get the odd lost 18-20 dimepiece. The reason I come here is because the ratios are excellent and the dudes here are extremely strange (if you approach here you'll do extremely well). Drinks are really really expensive for the type of bar it is ($10 on Friday and Saturday), but I'd say half the people here are on drugs anyway so still gets crazy busy. Not bad to have a peak on Thursday when they have their $4 student specials. Bands every night of the week,

Entry here also get's you entry to the adjoining RG's which is basically Brunswick and Anne reincarnate. Venture at own risk.

- The Foundry (Music venue)
Main age demographic: 18-25
Cover: $10-20

Here is a great place to start the night if you enjoy local music. Very new. A lot of hipsters and hippies... but a good fun vibe which has a big crowd early on Friday and Saturday nights. Expect some beta-faggot to point out 'did you know that XXX from XXX band is here tonight having beers so cool!!!'

- Birdees (student club)
Main age demographic: 18-20
Cover: $10

Just your typical student club. Next to a hostel so has a lot of travellers (mainly Western European and South American). Girls here get really really drunk. Quality not great but has the odd hottie from time to time. There's better places to go.

- Oh Hello! (nightclub)
Main age demographic: 18-22
Cover: $10-20

Cool venue with decent dancefloor. Has good DJs from time to time and brings in more cute girls than most venues in Brisbane. Smoking area logistics aren't great so probably not the best venue unless you have good dancefloor game (blaring music in all corners of club).

- Family (nightclub)
Main age demographic: 18-25
Cover: $15-25

The biggest club in Brisbane. Several levels. The girls in here can be hot... but I don't enjoy coming here. It's way too crowded, too busy, too overwhelming. You have to line up in a large line just to get to the smoker's deck up top. Unless you are particularly fond of the DJs that are playing I don't see a reason to come here.

- Cloudland (nightclub)
Main age demographic: 20-35
Cover: $20

This is probably the 'fanciest' place in Brisbane. Dress smartly. Having been to many clubs around the world this place is a fairly generic 'nice club'. Nice decor, unoffensive DJs and VIP booths. I'm a bit indifferent to the place, but I'd say it's going to appeal to most. Salsa night on Thursdays.

- Brightside (club/ bar)
Main age demographic: 18-30
Cover: $10-20

This is a rock bar. Expect the DJs spinning a lot of Blink-182 and Rage Against the Machine after the bands finish up around 11ish. If you don't have tattoos and a beard you will be in the minority. Make up your own mind on this one.

- Crowbar (music venue/ dive bar)
Main age demographic: 18-35
Cover: $5-20

Metal bands. Expect a lot of goths. I feel uneasy going here.

- The Met (nightclub)
Main age demographic: 18-25
Cover: $10-30

Extremely generic nightclub as far as crowd goes. I really really like the set-up here however. Plenty of lounge areas to isolate a chick... social smoking areas... loads of space away from the thumping music. DJs can be hit and miss.

Rave pit downstairs can be fun. Expect everybody to be on drugs.

- Limes Hotel (rooftop bar)
Main age demographic: 18-30
Cover: Free

Music here is good. Nice on a Sunday afternoon. Good place to start the night and talk to a couple of pretty girls.

- Woolly Mammoth (bar)
Main age demographic: 18-30
Cover: Free

American style club/ bar. Seems like a place out of a Seth Rogan movie. Good selection of beers. Girls are hot and drunk. Expect a lot of competition and terrible ratios.

- The Flying Cock (bar)
Main age demographic: 18-30
Cover: Free

Woolly Mammoth 2.0 - might as well be the same place.

- Our Place (bar)
Main age demographic: 18-22
Cover: Free

House party vibe similar to that of Alfred & Constance. However much less busy and ratios a lot better. $2.50 happy hour 9-10pm on Thursdays gets a bit of a crowd.

CBD

The Central Business District has a few bars and clubs but are much less dense than Fortitude Valley.

- Down Under Bar and Grill (dive bar)
Main age demographic: 18-25
Cover: Free

Best (and almost only) place to go on a Tuesday and Wednesday night in the city. Directly below a hostel so gets in mostly travellers. You see the odd 8 or 9 in here sometimes because of lack of venues open during the week. Very grimey. Terrible music. Far and away the easiest place to get laid in Brisbane but quality is usually sub-par.

- The Victory Hotel (bar)
Main age demographic: 18-30
Cover: Free

Really really busy on Thursday nights. Quality is gross and dudes are aggressive and drunk. I don't like going here.

- O'Malley's (Irish bar)
Main age demographic: 18-40
Cover: Free

I think one of the University of Queensland colleges does a special night for them earlier on in the night on a Wednesday. A mate and I went there once before a trip to Down Under and was packed with cute university girls.

So shit on a weekend. Expect drunk 40+ year old women.

West End/ South Brisbane

- The Fox (rooftop bar)
Main age demographic: 18-22
Cover: Free

Probably the place to go on a Sunday (along with Laruche). The quality is really really good. Popular with university students. Peaks 9-11pm on a Sunday so best to get in a little earlier. Music is good. Don't go here on public holiday long weekends because you will be waiting in line for hours.

- Archive (bar)
Main age demographic: 22-30
Cover: Free

Great selection of beers. Particularly popular on a Sunday afternoon but is good for a low-key Friday or Saturday night also. Hipster chicks.

- The Bearded Lady (bar/ music venue)
Main age demographic: 22-30
Cover: $10-15

Intimate live music venue that has local bands play most nights of the week. Nice chill venue to start the night.

- The Melbourne Hotel (bar)
Main age demographic: 18-25
Cover: Free

Worth having a peak on a Sunday due to their $3 beer specials. University student crowd. Average music.

- The Boundary Hotel (bar)
Main age demographic: 18-25
Cover: Free

Another Sunday spot. Draws a big crowd but I find the girls here really really trashy. Not somewhere I like to go. Cheap drinks.

Toowong

- The Royal Exchange Hotel (bar/ house party)
Main age demographic: 18-22
Cover: Free

Giant venue that draws a massive crowd on a Wednesday night. Right next to the state's biggest university. Worth going to, but a little far away from everything else. A lot of drunk 18 year old girls if that is your thing.

Again, can't understand the hate for Brisbane on this forum. So much nightlife. Comparatively inexpensive rent to other Australian cities. Might not last long so get in while the getting is good.

Enjoy.

Nice info! Will come in handy when I finally get to Brisbane for an extended period of time. I've been to Brisbane once, but only as a day trip from Gold Coast to check out Queen Street Mall and a couple of other things. Seemed very similar to Adelaide in terms of lifestyle and culture- laid back and not very energetic. You had positive things to say about quite a few venues there so I'm guessing that changes at night? Would you compare the vibrancy of nightlife more to Adelaide/Perth or Sydney/Melbourne, if you've been to those places?

I have been to Sydney and Melbourne and I would say Brisbane's nightlife is comparable. Brisbane has far less up-market bottle-service-type venues though.

I don't know much about Australia but I was shocked to see so many $10-20 dollar covers to get into clubs and bars. Is this how it is everywhere these days? I've been out of the loop for too long.

I didn't expect such good night life from Brisbane but I'll take your word for it. How about the variety there? Plenty of European/South American tourists/students? I've heard it's pretty one dimensional and not as multicultural as Sydney, Melbourne and even Adelaide who have a lot of Greeks, Italians, Serbians etc.

Bars rarely charge an entrance fee, but most clubs do. You can normally get discount by contacting the clubs' respective Facebook pages or a promoter and putting yourself on the door list. Alternatively, most clubs have cheaper or even free entry if you get there before a certain time as well- usually before 10pm-11pm. For all the major, most popular clubs in any Australian city there will be no way around some kind of entrance/cover fee.

Yeah there's noticeably less ethnic diversity than a Sydney or Melbourne. From a recent trip to Sydney I can say that Sydney has far more 9s and 10s than Brisbane as well.

Brisbane is quite good for girls in the 6-8 range and it's large tourist/ student contingent from Europe, South America etc like you mentioned.

This is great data that you are providing here. However, can you give specific examples of why these aforementioned data sheets of Brisbane "suck" opposed to just denouncing contributions of others?

Everything I've read about Brisbane on RVF states high quality of living with comparisons to Gold Coast as decent Tier 2/3 Australian cities opposed to pairing it up with the higher population locales being Sydney and Melbourne.

Nice contribution, but before you hate in the typical Aussie style, look around the forum a bit: thread-43462...#pid908907.

But I agree with the fact that Brisbane is an underrated and very comfortable city, especially for the outdoorsy type.

Good write up. There are a few honorable mentions

Valley
- Eleven (Rooftop Bar)

There are absolute stunners here and the ration is good thanks to the screening done at the door. You will have to line up (or slip security a $20) in order to get in, but can be used as a opportunity to game girls in line which as double perks when security walks up the line and picks hot girls out to skip the queue and you tag along (Pre-selection etc)

- Sabotage Social (Lounge/bar)

If you are into rock'n'roll, Hip hop, rap and whiskey. This is the place for you. Can be dead on a lot of quiet nights in the valley but if you want yourself a rock'n'roll chick this is the place for you. Due to the lounge like nature can be good for dates during the week. (I personally have this place on lock down)

The Elephant (Bar)

The front gambling section can be a put off, but Friday and Saturday nights you will find cover bands and good selection of women with a good ratio. Girls here are usually a little older (25+) but they are there just to dance to rock'n'roll and due to the caliber of guys this place attracts, gaming womenz is pretty easy as the male clientele have little to no game .
Due to the location it is easy for a quick pull home into a cab.

Footnote.

Crowbar.
Not goths by the way, but the metal scene is so tight in Brisbane that trying to pull a metal/rock'n'roll girl ain't worth it. You will have to fight of multiple white knights that have orbited these girls for months maybe even years. Also the ratios in that scene are fuckin terrible. Avoid at all costs.

Must have went to Crowbar on an off night. Only been once.

...

Seconded on Elephant. Only been once there also and I pulled pretty quickly... quality didn't seem great however.

...

Will have to check out the others. I also failed to mention GPO which always gets a crowd and plenty of stunners in the 21-25ish bracket.

...

Woolly Mammoth and Flying Cock are my go-to's more recently. Far and away best places for quality in 18-21 range (competition aside).

Agree with most of what you said.

Crowbar and Brightside are similarish in terms of chicks. Lots of orbiters. Not a great ratio. But you don't go to these places to pick up.

Crowbar has the occasional different gig outside of metal so maybe you caught them on a goth type night. Either way, avoid metal chicks like the plague. Their sense of entitlement and constant beta pedestalising makes them think they are 4 points higher than they actually are.

I've yet to check out Woolly Mammoth, but I will have to now.

February 2016 Update

- Soleil (rooftop bar)
Location: South Bank
Main age demographic: 18-30
Cover: Free

I have been here for a sneaky Sunday session a few times. You will find a lot of top tier girls at this venue with very tight social circles. Drinks are relatively inexpensive but the clientele, venue, music and bottles remain top shelf. Nice place to start off a Sunday afternoon with a platter and a couple of beers. Dress smartly.

- Fat Louie's (pool hall)
Location: CBD
Main age demographic: 18-35
Cover: Free

Pool hall/ karaoke bar/ live music venue (weekends). Drinks are cheap and the bar staff are always super coked up. Weird mix of students/ loser alcoholics/ metalheads/ teenage girls trying to sneak in. More of a 'shoot the shit with your buddies' kind of set-up.

- Prohibition (bar/ club)
Location: Fortitude Valley
Main age demographic: 18-25
Cover: ?

Fancy-ish venue. Wear collared shirt/ pants/ shoes etc otherwise you won't get let in. The girls get dressed up to come here but once they are in just get smashed. Music mostly house and hip-hop. Drinks reasonable. Not too busy. Guys seem non-threatening. Came here once briefly with social circle. Would love to go again solo or with a wing as it looks promising. Recommended.

- The Bowery (bar)
Location: Fortitude Valley
Main age demographic: 18-30
Cover: Free

Nice place for a date. Very chill jazz bar with good cocktail selection. Would be an ideal place and location to start a night around 8 or 9pm.

- x+y bar (bar)
Location: Fortitude Valley
Main age demographic: 18-25
Cover: Free

Used to get the rock/ punk crowd from The Brightside back in the day before it opened. These days X+Y is a lot more of generic club/ bar vibe with unoffensive dance floor, reasonable drink prices and a young student-type of crowd. Quickly becoming the go-to place on a Sunday as it kicks on well into Monday morning.

- Friday's (rooftop bar/ club)
Location: City/ Riverside
Main age demographic: 18-30
Cover: $10

My new favourite venue. You want to be dressed very well as people come here to look GOOD. Expect to compete with pro athletes for girls, but the quality is on point if you have the game chops. Girls here get a bit wild. Pulled and banged from here twice in the last month or so. Great for a Friday or Saturday night out

- The Stock Exchange (rooftop bar/ club)
Location: CBD
Main age demographic: 18-25
Cover: Free

Full of trap kids and drug dealers. I've banged 2 girls from here in last couple of months also. Polar opposite crowd of Friday's and a lot younger. I'm really really over this scene but could be the easiest venue in Brisbane to take a girl home from on a Sunday

Nice data sheet mate. Married RVFer so been a while but from back then i can say that you are on the money.

Always found the City was better for picking up the less indie/hipster chicks and for gaming as music is not so loud. Eagle street pier bars like blackbird, river bar, etc. were where the after-work/corporate crowd tended to go but at Fridays and sometimes Jade Buddha there was always at least a decent number of young freshies on a Saturday night.

As for Valley, it was always dead on a Friday night - not sure if its the same still. Even though there are more sluts in the Valley on a sat night I seemed to have better luck in the city - maybe its because i have that classic look while hipsters were killing it at the time (would see many 8s with ugly hipster blokes). It can be hard to game at those clubs where birds are just there to dance with the mates they came with.

Never had any luck at West End except at the Fox when it was popular. Crowd there is even more hipster/alternative.

Have you ever been to this place? I went for a function a few months ago it looked excellent but not sure what the crowd is like. Probably same crowd from James Street and A&C

Have you guys been to Brisbane's new yr eve parties? Anything worthy of mention? I am planning on a week long xmas/new yr trip to Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast have not decided which days to spend on which place. Suggestions are welcome.

Any other party places which are easy to pull at this time will be much appreciated.

Have read in this forum that Gold Coast is hard for game generally, but would this change during the festive season maybe with more tourists etc.?

Looking forward to hearing your opinions. Thanks.

I would like to add Noosa to the list as well as it seems to be getting more popular but I am not sure how good it is for game though.

Do throw out any suggestions at all about the greater Brisbane Area during the festive season. It will be much appreciated.

As far as value goes, the big NYE parties at pubs/clubs suck as the price is usually around 100 beans with unlimited drinks but it so busy you can't get one. The crowd is excellent though, especially on the GC as many go down for the weekend from Brissy and stay the night at a hotel. Plenty of babes looking their finest. Most go out in groups so can be harder to game (most are there w groups of their mates as they bought tickets together). Other blokes will know specific places better but in Brissy the Fridays NYE was always decent.

I always had better experiences at NYE house parties so would do that instead if you can
