Black Guyz Adventures in Brasil

Most of what you need to know about having success here can be summed up in 3 words: Learn some Portuguese. In fact, if you don’t I’d advise you to stop reading this right now, go do that, and then come back to this post. As a general rule, you may get lots of IOI, but without the language, you’ll be helpless, and they will be helpless to even meet you halfway. Even in France, I never felt as helpless as I did here in Brazil because of the lack of knowledge of the language. What’s made it even worse was that I downloaded Pimsleurs 2 months in advance, but didn’t really apply myself to it and procrastinated, and instead worried way too much about where I should go and what places to hit. Wrong plan. Get the language part first…in my opinion this will be the MOST significant factor in success or not, way more than location. Btw, I am a medium complexion brother, and color or being black played little to absolutely no part. In other words, there was NO exotic factor besides being American. In fact, most just assumed I was Brazilian…a well dressed Brazilian, but Brazilian. That was until I opened my mouth, which then elicited smiles, giggles, and some IOI, but then we get back to the language barrier issue…got to have at least some to make any serious headway. In my opinion, Portuguese, looking decent, and being American will be quite enough to do the job.
The Women: Okay, I’m about to rankle a few feathers no doubt, but this is my own subjective opinion…and a limited one at that since I only ended up going to 2 cities (Brasilia and Sao Paulo), 2 that are not at the top of most people’s list when they think of Brazil. Everyone knows that surveys/list always consistently say that the world’s most beautiful women are in Brazil. But as far as looks, I, imho, honestly thought the women were a bit overrated. I know my expectations may have been a little too high, looking for Adriana Lima to be around every corner I guess was asking too much-), so I was a little disappointed at first glance. However, you should know that I do reside in a city with a large latino population, and am from NY, and so I am used to seeing some fine Latinas (Mexican and Central American) and Puerto Ricans. But to give up at this point and dismiss the whole effort at this point would be a mistake, as I found that they do really grow on you, and once you leave you really do realize what you miss about them and how it ain’t that easy after all to run up on it here in the States. My (very limited) personal experience thus far with Brazilian women: very possessive (insisting on holding my hand, or my hand had to be on some part of her when out and about…lol), very sensual/sexual, and you better bring your A game to the bedroom cause you will be burning some cals.
Brasilia: 1) Life in general during the day is going to center around the mall. There is pretty much nothing else to do during the day. 2) The city is not walk friendly at all. I thought I could taxi it pretty much, but the second day I got my ass back to the airport to get a car. 3) The place is not cheap. As a side note, my background is architecture related, and I have a big interest in mid century modern architecture, and so I actually did find things of interest to do in the city apart from swoop. A very easy and intuitive city to drive in, but speed limits are enforced very tightly (look for the cams). At night, again you have the malls, but also more choperias /bars than I thought I’d find.
I stayed right on the edge of Taguatinga, which is just west of Brasilia proper (sort of like a suburb) as it’s a lot more dense, and if there is any walking to be done it will be here (and you’re still in Brasilia). When I could step away from my girl, I hit the malls. If I saw a store with an attractive girl(s) I approached, and got the same response just about every time – giggles, IOI from at least one in the group, exchange a few lines, very friendly and receptive, and then language roadblock. This is fun n cute the first few times, but then it just gets downright frustrating (Don’t be an idiot like me…do yourself a favor and learn the language).
If you’re brave enough to step into the hood (Ceilandia), this is by far where I saw the widest range of looks, from the common to the most exotic looking women in all of Brasilia. I’m talking golden brown skin, blonde hair, exotic eyes, and bodies that would not quit. Yes, I saw a lot at the other end of the spectrum here too, but it was here that I saw the most exotic. I was with my girl, and these girls I know spoke zero English, so any kind of approach was a no-go and pointless.
Some of the places: Cha da Boa (Small, but cool active spot on a Monday night), Osina, Zimbrar, Divina Choperia (all pretty cool bars), Queens (p4p spot I accidentally stumbled into…no I didn’t, but if you saw a couple of girls in this place, you would not have blamed me) – All of these places are in Taguatinga in a pretty concentrated block and area, good selection of girls and pretty active.
There were a few other places, but can’t recall all of the names. Unlike Brasilia proper, you can actually leave the malls in Taguatinga and walk around street level and have a few things to do, though it’s much nicer in Brasilia and very clear that the dividing line between the rich and middle class/poor begins at Taguatinga.
Bar De Calaf – One of the best spots I saw in Brasilia. I got here at 7p on Saturday, and the place was already jumping when I got there. Good samba, live music, great dancing…there’s no way you can miss it because it’s absolutely the ONLY thing happening in the area. The surrounding area is quiet and completely dead by comparison. I could hear the music 3 blocks away. Pretty good talent here and party central. I was actually outright grabbed a couple of times here while walking through the crowd with my girl. One girl literally grabbed me by my jacket lapel while I’m walking with my girl…she was not amused. Accused me of looking at other women (smile). I think we broke up/made up 3 times that night…lol.
Mormaii – If you are looking to be (or need to be) upgraded, this is the place to be. It’s in a center called Pontao that contains a few other places as well, and it sits on Lago Sul. Came on a Sunday during brunch- definitely the place to come to see the upper crust and maybe pick something up if your game is tight enough. The place sits waterfront, and there a few other spots that flank it that are just as nice or nicer. I saw watercraft coming in and out ALL afternoon loading hunnies in and out of the place. I highly recommend the acai with bananas and the mojitos. The eye candy was so good I went back for lunch on Monday, but it was nowhere near the level of the Sunday afternoon brunch time crowd. Also, let no one tell you that Brazil is color-blind. It was here that I saw a dark skinned black Brazilian middle-aged women in her white maid uniform (with hat) pushing a stroller around for her more Euro female employer. I was with my girl, who shook her head and indeed confirmed that it is not the utopia portrayed.
Somebody else posted the winning formula for a black guy in Brazil somewhere in this thread I think, and I can add nothing to it.
I’ll post my Sao Paulo experience shortly and maybe some pics (still debating on that).
Need to take a break…to be continued.
