It's a troubling scene: an intimate partner is slapped across the face, punched twice, kneed in the head, and thrown onto the floor. This is the kind of behavior we are all looking to amend, in a new era of domestic violence awareness.

And yet rather few people reacted to this particular situation, even though it was described in the autobiography of one of the biggest stars in sports.

Ronda Rousey wrote in "My Fight, Your Fight" that she slapped her boyfriend across the face "so hard my hand hurt," "punched him in the face with a straight right, then a left hook," and then "grabbed him by the neck of his hoodie, kneed him in the face" and threw him onto the kitchen floor.

Does being punched, slapped, kneed to the face, and thrown to the floor by a professional MMA fighter count as domestic violence?

Not if you're a woman.

Is this a case of domestic violence? That's hard to say without context.

The Justice Department's definition of domestic violence is "a pattern of abusive behavior that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner."

We simply don't know if there's a "pattern" here, since we hear little from Rousey about this relationship. Rousey, in Australia for her Saturday fight against Holly Holm, could not be reached for comment.

The boyfriend, "Snappers McCreepy" as Rousey calls him, was purportedly found to have taken nude photos of her. She grew incensed, as almost anyone would, and reacted with force.

And what does the National Network to End Domestic Violence have to say about this incident?

Quote:Quote:

"I'm not comfortable with her behavior," said Kim Pentico of the National Network to End Domestic Violence. "What I am absolutely not willing to say is she's committed domestic violence without speaking with him and learning more about that relationship."

This try hard bitch swears she is the shit and can beat anybody up. That boyfriend clearly had no idea what to do in that situation.

I'm just waiting for the day I hear "Rousey badly injured after attempting to fight a man"

How do you know she was telling the truth? Lots of people embellish in their autobiographies, to generate buzz so that the book sells.

Many women happily allow their partners to take nekkid pics of them.

In reality probably nothing like this happened. Just a made up story to generate buzz and give her 'gurl pwer1!11!' credit and solidify her as an action movie star. (I guess people stopped calling her for roles after Expendables 3) She is not hot so she really has nothing else to go on to get it on in Hollywood; movie makers prefer women with looks even in action movies (look at the latest terminator for instance)

I can't wait for her to fight a dude in UFC and get KO'ed.

I seriously doubt they'll ever let her fight a man, but I think she should considering how huge her ego is, I'm pretty sure she said she could beat any guys in her weight class, she should fight the fly weight champion, that is a fight I'd like to see.

Is the popularity of female MMA the epitome of how western women have become masculinized? I've talked to other guys in the gym about this and a lot of them think it's "cool", while I make the argument that fighting is the realm of the masculine, the masculine it the realm of men, to me there is nothing "cool" about female cage fighters. It's especially telling that you're seeing ones that are actually kind of hot and would otherwise appear to be very dainty and feminine like that Page Van Zant chick who are getting into cage fighting. I'd much prefer it if they stuck with volleyball, ballet, ice skating, etc., traditionally feminine pursuits.

I agree, I think its odd to see chick vs. chick MMA as there is no honor in a woman being able to beat anyone up. Would I pay to see two men in an ironing or sandwich making contest vs. each other?

Or more accurately...if we have women's MMA, who not kids MMA? and I don't mean classes, and instruction I mean celebrated contests. I think I would be as repelled at seeing some 8 year old knee some other kid's face in with a cheering crowd in the background as I am seeing some woman do it to another. There is nothing to celebrate. Just like Caitlin Jenner.

Mighty Mouse would spank Ronda easily in my opinion. He was already doing pretty well in the 135 lb weight class (Ronda's weight class) against other top level male 135 pounders prior to dropping down to 125. I actually wouldn't be surprised if he knocked Ronda out even though he's not known to be a power puncher.

It is amazing what nitpicking legalistic rationalizers these assholes become when faced with something they don't like.

She is the UFC's cash grab on the feminist and cuck white knight market. As someone who has been involved in MMA for a long time - She is a complete hack.

The women's bantamweight division has 30 ranked opponents globally. 30… That barely constitutes a football team. Her last opponent started boxercise to get fit just 3 years ago. She was a lawyer with zero combat experience. Over one million viewers bought her PPV to see her 'elite' skills.

Long story short - I would doubt anything you read about Rousey. 99% of what you see and hear is bullshit spin jobs. In relation to the book however - The double standards are astounding.

She has made a big portion of her name riding the coat tails of Floyd Mayweather and calling him out for domestic abuse. The public response to this shows that in today's society women can and will get away with virtually anything.

She is a hack, and her shittalking is nauseating since she won't even fight Cyborg (who is a tranny IIRC), but her coach is reportedly Gene LeBell (he's a friend of the family) and has known him since she was a little kid - if any of you guys read up on him he's a terrifying dude who could fuck up anybody even now as a crusty old geezer, so no doubt some of that rubbed off.

Mixing her up with Fallon Fox, who's the tranny.

I don't follow any MMA or UFC whatsoever, thanks for the correction.

It's the gayest sport alive. It's like several rounds of sweaty, jacked, shirtless dudes hugging each other to death. Boxing is way cooler to watch.

I hope this blows up but I severely doubt it. Rousey is fucking untouchable even without the pussy pass, and as we saw with Hope Solo the ladies don't give a fuck about the double standard. They'll cheer her. Cognitive dissonance will have its day in the sun. Nothing we can do about it.
