I am surprised that nobody has come up with the diving instructor route yet. How much is it to become a licensed dive instructor and how much money can you make with it in a place like SEA? I imagine it to be a pretty cool life to be a dive instructor on a tropical island. Chances are you will get laid like a rockstar too.

I really do think that it's a lot easier to start over from scratch than people think. You just have to be prepared to let go of your conceptions of what you need in life.

Amen, brother. Starting over in a new place is refreshing.

Option 1: French Foreign Legion. Get French citizenship and become a French asshole. Get elected President, MAKE FRANCE GREAT AGAIN (a la Charles DeGaulle) by leaving the EU.

Option 2: Claim refugee status in Canada, get elected Prime Minister, stop the motherfucking Fort McMurray fire, restart oil production, MAKE CANADA GREAT AGAIN by selling Canada to the United States for 2 cents per acre.

Option 3: Spend the $10K on a first class ticket to a small Persian Gulf state, Qatar or the UAE, with high GDP per capita. Drop my resume, recover the $10K as part of a signing bonus, and live like a king.

"Rich country in europe" is a good answer if you're magically freed from having to deal with FATCA, or if the hassle posed by FATCA is overhyped on the internet.

Regardless of that. I'd start in the netherlands because I've lived in one of its larger cities, I know that city's layout and the habits of its people, and I'm confident I could live for free off the generosity of locals for a month or two while I found my feet.

If FATCA is as bad as I hear it is for americans in europe, I resign myself to having to make a permanent home on some other continent, and my time in NL is spent doing frantic research.

You should add the stipulation ..."with no job skills".

The low cost of living in a low wage country is good if you decide to go run an online business otherwise a higher wage country should be the best option, with online it can be a good idea to start with a low cost of living country to start to have time to get the money rolling then upgrade as necessary. For this reason somewhere in eastern europe or alternatively SEA for a bit of entertainment thrown in.

If starting with no skills, then would have to get on to the internet and start out with the best self help books then teach myself the skills I need to succeed in my chosen path, in this case with it being online its not a huge issue as I can study using the internet.

My nickname speaks for itself. I would set up an online biz and use blackhat tactics to rank my website [Image: smile.gif]
