Ended up seeing Solo the other night. It slightly exceeded my expectations. It was unquestionably superior to The Last Jedi in every respect - the most basic being that it was at least entertaining (TLJ was, in addition to all of its well-documented SJW-inspired faults, a simply boring and ineptly executed piece of film-making). It wasn't a great film or even as good as a Han Solo origin story probably should have been, but it was passable summer action fare. There was certainly a little too much "girl power" going on for my taste in a movie that was supposedly all about Han Solo, but it wasn't completely of control by the standards of 2018. I thought Ehrenreich did a pretty decent job as Han, and Woody Harrelson was fun, if somewhat out of place (although certainly less out of place than Samuel L. Jackson was in the prequels). The action sequences were well done and there was sufficient nostalgia between Han, Chewie, the Millennium Falcon and Lando to scratch the Star Wars itch. The appearance towards the end of a certain prequel character was very cool. I left the theater thinking that they did a decent job, but that with such iconic characters and source material available they really should have done better. Also curious to know what the film looked like before Ron Howard re-shot half the scenes. It must have been godawful in its original state, so Howard perhaps deserves some credit for salvaging it as much as he was able. I'd give it a C+ (for comparison sake, I'd give The Last Jedi an F, Rogue One a B+ and The Force Awakens a B-).

Grain of salt, but the article says that "sources" at Lucasfilm told the website Collider that all the side Star Wars stories - namely an Obi-Wan movie and a Boba Fett movie - are in limbo after Solo tanked. This excludes the new trilogy being directed by Rian "White Male Director" Johnson and the Star Wars movies that David "White Male Director" Benioff and D.B. "White Male Director" Weiss are attached to.

One can only hope this means Disney is prepping a barge to take Kathleen Kennedy out for a little desert vacation to the Sarlaac after this.

If folk are anything like me, it isn't even a conscious boycott. They aren't going to see SOLO because it's a bad film, some of the reviews on here for example point to it being ok to good. I'll watch it for free when I get a chance.

Even when they produce good toys like Luke's landspeeder - it sits on the shelves because parents are not going to spend so much money on a brand that has been destroyed and is simply not that popular among children anymore.

If that toy had come out even 15 years ago, then it would be a great, but not anymore.

Even if you did not like the Prequels - many people did and created a ton of fan-fiction, games and novels - simply because the core of Star Wars was intact. The toys still sold like crazy with the prequels.
