Ideas/ things from the past that you wish still existed.

What we consider red pill today would have the ancients saying duh, because it was common sense to them. As much as modern people know I still believe the Romans, Greeks and Renaissance men were far wiser .

Is there anything from the past you miss e.g dowry paying. Personally I wish they would bring back public floggings and public executions. As well as legalising prostitution and weed.

Don't debate me.

Cocaine as a cure all, bloodletting...

But in all seriousness, we know multiple fuck tons more now than the Romans could ever dream of. People tend to romanticize simpler times and older ideas. While there is often merit in peeling things back to their origin, it should be kept in petspective. Life in those times for your average Joe was crap and misery.

There is plenty of wisdom out there these days, its just that moden culture and life is too easy, and when no effort or thought is needed to live well people get disconnected from the fundamentals.

Dowrys, flogging and public execution? Nah thanks, you can live in dark ages, I'll pass.

The purpose of man is progress, not sticking ones head in the sand, even if the modern world is a madhouse

Quaaludes. I've only heard tales from older friends about these joyful little beauties and they all say I they wish I could've known them.

Gladiator arenas. Entertainment at its finest/ bloodiest.

Women's suffrage - you know what im talkin' bout.

Legal dueling. No better way to settle our disputes in my opinion. Mano e mano.

Boy the way Glen Miller played
Songs that made the hit parade.

Guys like us we had it made,
Those were the days.

And you knew who you were then,
Girls were girls and men were men,
Mister we could use a man
Like Herbert Hoover again.

Didn't need no welfare state,
Everybody pulled his weight.
Gee our old LaSalle ran great.
Those were the days

More of what you had in mind op? [Image: tongue.gif]

Seriously though
+ 1 for stoic schools and I'll throw in male rights of passage.

Art and literature from antiquity and the 1800s is of better quality. A 100 years from now will people be astonished by 50 shades of grey. I miss the soulful music from the 80s.

Dueling.

It would be nice if people could officially duel over smaller arguments like insults, cheating, infidelities, backstabbing and similar and not get punished for that by police and government.

If the dueling rules are implemented the right way this would:

This would eliminate a large portion of government influence in people's lives.
This would also toughen up population.
This would make females value men more as strong protectors.
This would make people more respectful against others and reduce the passive aggressive SJW backstabbing behavior.
This would make politicians much more accountable.
This would eliminate manginas, sissies and softness in men.

Dueling shouldn't be lethal but something risky still like boxing where you could challenge the person who has pissed you off and try to get revenge by beating him up and humiliating him.

There could be a fee for the right to duel someone who has pissed you off. Limited to once a month or so. But then you could do your best to beat them up including knocking off a teeth or maybe breaking an arm. Referees should intervene to stop lethal outcome but small body damage might be permissible.

Also if we still have gender equality then we should make women also eligible for being challenged to duels, but they should have the option to name their champion (as should old men and minors). This would really make them value men as protectors. This would also teach men to discriminate against sluts and drama queens because who would want to stick with a woman who drags him into duels constantly?

Rock music was far better in the period 1968-1978.

And bring back hanging!

I do think Britain in the pre multicultural 1960's was a far better place.

Countries.

If I travel to Paris, I'd like to hear French, not Arabic.
If I travel to Berlin, I'd like to hear German, not Turkish.
If I travel to Des Moines, I'd like to hear English, not Spanish.

Imagining the West as the culturally/linguistically/ethnically homogenous entities they were only a few decades ago seems like a fairytale or alternate universe. This sense of normality is so alien to us now, the only glimpse we have into it is in non-Western countries where we ourselves are foreigners. This sense of painful longing (Sehnsucht) isn't something I would wish on my worst enemy.

And the disclaimer of course - love of our own is not hatred of another.

Colour the world pink. No, not for that reason.

British Empire at its height:

Have mixed feelings about the empire since in my background I have both creators of it and people who fought against it. Definitely had a big impact on the world though.

I do think Britain in the pre multicultural 1960's was a far better place.

Why? The reason I'm asking is because my parents moved from India to UK in the 1960s.
