Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent Fasting

I didn't fast during Christmas or New Years. This is my first fast of 2019.

I usually have trouble breaking past 72 hours but I'll see this time.

I do salt + potassium + magnesium + multivitamin.

This time I've learned to drink the electrolyte water slower. I noticed on 2 previous fasts if I chug it down fast then I just get the shits lasting forever and my heart goes crazy (because of dehydration). For some reason I can eat 3500mg of sodium during normal food but if it's in water then the consumption has to be slowed down.

I make a drink with apple cider vinegar and a teaspoon of potassium salt. With it I take a magnesium and a zinc supplement. That does the electrolytes for me.

First time I heard that about sodium, but with potassium you have to be careful--you can get hyperkalemia. Hypernatremia is apparently is also possible.

I am afraid that women appreciate cruelty, downright cruelty, more than anything else. They have wonderfully primitive instincts. We have emancipated them, but they remain slaves looking for their masters all the same. They love being dominated.

I suspect that's why I couldn't find potassium salt substitute in Taiwan. Since pure potassium allegedly has almost no taste to it and apparently it used to be used as a 100% lethal poison (and is still used as a method of lethal injection in certain countries).

Anyway I had to go with a dietary salt that is like 52% potassium and 48% sodium.

Although I wonder if this URL has the numbers wrong. Apparently fatal levels of potassium can only be achieved by eating in excess of 100,000 mg. One would probably have to eat a quarter bag of Potassium substitute to get to that amount or half a jar of dietary salt.

Those of you talking about bodyfat percentages, are the clamps accurate? When I use the clamps I'm about 14% but I can't see my abs. Where can I get the body composition tests done do you know?

You can get some cheap weight scales that measure you body fat percentage with an alternating current passed through your legs (different electrical response determines make up of body bone, muscle, fat all conduct differently)

These aren't going to be 100% accurate, but I think a lot more than clamps.

I've been meaning to give this a try for a while. I do tend to at least restrict myself to a 12 hour feeding window but I want it to get much smaller. I find that if I eat a very satiating meal around 5-6pm I can go the rest of the night without eating without any hunger pangs.

If I end up eating late at night its almost never out of hunger but craving. It's not really a big problem for me but I know the immense benefits of IF on fat loss, and it seems a lot simpler than eating a very strict diet. However i do think that any serious IM fasting (say a 2-4 hour feeding window) should be low carb (under 100g per day) or else it will probably be really difficult.

Been doing IF for about 5 weeks and love it. I’m leaning out nicely and building muscle.

But, I have noticed that I’m edgy and amped as hell especially in the mornings (fasted state). I feel super aggressive and confrontational. Borderline agitated.

Also, it’s like I forgot how to sleep. Cannot sleep through the night anymore. I wake up several times per night.

Anyone here experience this?

Try come MTC/Coconut oil in your morning coffee, if you drink coffee that is. If not you could put it in some hot lemon & ginger water. The extra fat gives you a little boost.

if you put fat in your coffe you are breaking your fast it's no longer IF that's for people following a keto diet.

If you're getting trouble to fall asleep I'd recommend that you do OMAD (one meal a day) and eat your meal 2 hours before you go to bed you'll sleep like a baby.

On top of that you get better results in term of fat loss doing OMAD wich is 23:1 compared to a basic 16:8 IF routine

Works great for me at the moment. As i work night shift, I eat my last meal of the day before midnight, and then I don't consume anything until about an hour after I wake up, which is usually between 1 and 3 PM.
So I'll do 14-16 hour fast, drink my morning cofee, eat a banana and a handful of dates and go to the gym (I also tried fasted training and while you can get used to it, I prefer to eat a small meal beforehand). After my workout, I eat my biggest meal of the day, and then again, as I sad, another meal before midnight.

Been doing this routine for couple of months, I've actually stayed the same weight but I feel that I've recomped. My pants are looser around my waist, that's for sure.

Try snake juice it helps with the fasting imo, it's not really a product you can make it yourself, ignore the speaker's eurm extravagant speaking style [Image: biggrin.gif] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1onQ0nxgWFM

Normally I do intermittent fasting but thx to the snake juice I was able to do OMAD...

So it's just a mixture to keep your electrolytes up (but without sugar of course)
