Optimising your look

I made a couple of observations last night that got me thinking. I was out at a club for the first time in ages. I've been experimenting with a new look and it seemed good because I can't remember the last time I got so many IOI's in a club. I even got approached which has barely happened before. One girl used the "I thought you were someone else" line. And another came up to me and put a flower behind my ear (women are weird).
The annoying thing is my logistics are shit, which means the motivation is just not there because I am not giving myself the best chance before I even come out of the starting blocks! However, it gives me confidence for the future when my logistics will improve significantly.
But what I am asking is, do you guys continuously try and optimise your look so it works well with your game? I know the game you spit is more important than your look, but when the two are in perfect harmony I get the impression that it would be a pretty powerful thing.
Any guy can make himself look good, and what works for one man will not necessarily work for next man, it's about finding what works best for you (or this is the impression I get).

What's your new look like? I just wear sort of plain (all neutral colors, bare minimum shit like a v neck and jeans), fitted clothes.

I actually feel the most stifled when it comes to approaching when I think I look really good (stubble, leather jacket, etc.). I've had days where I spent hours just pussying out and not approaching, then I'll come home, look in the mirror and just think what the fuck.
I think sometimes when I look good or feel cocky (head up high/strong gait) I just get more scared of having my mood brought down by a rejection and would rather just get checked out.

I've been wearing long-sleeved, tight fitting, shirts either pale or navy blue, with dark blue tight jeans, a tweed jacket and loafers. Not sure if the stubble look would work for me (girls always describe me as "cute" which is annoying actually but what you gonna do). Why do you feel more stifled the better you look?

I explained why in the edit...it's like my mood is just at this high when I'm 'confident' about my looks and I don't want to potentially ruin it by going up to a girl who might not be attracted to me (so it's obviously still coming from an insecure place). Sometimes it even feels like i have more to live up to. As opposed to when I'm just going through the motions and not as concerned with my looks.

I see. This must have happened to the experienced guys back in the day. Maybe one of them can shed some light on this?

I know one of the members here does personalized style consultations and will even choose and order your clothes for you online. Tanner of masculine-style.com. Maybe there are other guys in this space doing the same?
