Supplements for High Intensity Training

If you suffer from your joints, like me, try Animal Flex, the best supplement for joint pain.

Great pre workout supp that I use is called Jack3d by USP Labs. Its alot like NO Xplode by BSN which is probably the most popular pre workout booster but it doesnt have the fillers that NO has. Give it a shot to boost your workouts and I promise youll thank me. Dont take it close to bed time since it gets you pretty amped.

Fish Oil pills are great for joint pain.

On the protein side of things try Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard. All the flavors taste great and mix super easy with water. My favorites Chocolate Mint but all the ones Ive tried are good.

Agree with your suggestions if he is trying to bulk, love Jack3d but we are looking at 22% Body Fat, I think the best way is try to cut that fut first with a fat burner like Meltdown/Redline

I like ON 100% postworkout but I prefer a blend like Myofusion for every other time of the day.

Your goals:

1) Fat loss: Obviously, you could just cut calories. I hate counting calories though so my first recommendation would be to lower carbohydrate intake as (simplified) carbs lead to sugar which leads to fat storage. I'm not sure how intense your workouts will be but you probably don't need a truckload of carbs (I actually train fasted and I'm currently running a ketogenic diet though I am heavier on the protein).

check out http://www.leangains.com he's got a pretty interesting take on things but I've recently parted ways with his methodology.

2) Muscle retention: If you are working out, don't worry about it. Your muscles don't atrophy unless you really don't use them. That's why maintaining muscle is easier than putting it on.

3) Quick Recovery: Firstly, don't worry about over-training. Mostly a myth. I have two rules regarding training:
A) Lift Heavy Shit
B) Stay out of the pain cave
Pain =/= soreness. Soreness is an obvious side-effect of lifting weight (lactic acid and what-not, but I haven't actually looked into the science of soreness in awhile). Pain is your body telling you something is fucked up (but I'm sure you knew that).

Check out ChaosandPain.blogspot.com. His attitude toward working out is hilariously entertaining as well as scientifically proofed. He does his research.

I agree with his supplement ideology (that you don't need most of that crap). The only thing I recommend is A) protein because it's difficult to eat enough of it through food (but since you're not looking for muscle gain I'm not sure you need too much) and B) A multi. I take a regular multi but on some training days I'll use an Animal Pak multi-vitamin (http://www.animalpak.com/html/sections.cfm?ID=7) which is every vitamin you'll ever need and 400 times the amount of it you'll ever want. I literally had a body high once when I took that without food, it was insane.

As you always should, get your fucking sleep. If anything, make sure you get your sleep. Super important.

P.S. I read somewhere that the company that owns Mens Health produces a lot of the vitamins and supplements they push.

On another note, muay thai sounds awesome. Have you ever seen Tony Jaa's movies? (ong bak/the protector)

Edit: @Mikeymike read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naringin. Naringin is the culprit behind the "citrus bonus."

THanks for the info Docter. I've taken animal pak a long time ago, it's difficult to swalow that many pills at once.

Like you said, I think tons of sleep is the most important part of that equation. I just posted this thread to see how I can get that extra edge.

I"m aware that I don't need creative to lose fat, but I know that it is good for high intensity interval training and strength support. I've never tried it before and wanted to get a sense of what other guys' experinces were like.

My plan to take the supplements as listed before is the same, with the addition of fish oils most likely.

Jack3d is great! I love that stuff. I've heard mixed things about NOxPlode though. Not sure if I can find these things in BKK.

Yeah, first priority is definitely getting body fat as low as possible. I'm willing to lose a bit of muscle if necessary. My genetics allow me to stack on both muscle and flab very quickly.

I was wondering about that too. GNCs are the only supplement stores around and after buying a magnesium oxide supplement that messed up my stomach I wouldn't GNC to anyone.

And everything that Moma said about creatine with grape juice is correct. I don't know the science behind it but that shit works! I used that stuff when I was in college and like him I got a little worried when I had all that extra energy and strength so I stopped after the loading phase.

Taking the Jack3d isnt going to affect you as far as bulking up more or losing muscle. The Jack3d can help for all workouts not just weightlifting. Even on my cardio days I take it for a performance boost as it seems to help with my endurance. I stacked Jack3d with OxyElite Pro which I feel is one of the best fat burners. I recently cut about 25 lbs using the two together.

Quick addendum I started using Noxipro today instead of Jack3d and liked it alot better. For those using Jack3d maybe give Noxi a shot next time you buy.
