19 year old Beta in need of some serious life changing advice

9 year old Beta in need of some serious life changing advice
Hello gang. This is my second post in this forum, I'm hoping that I will get some positive responses. I am in need of some heavy advice on where I should go in my life. I have been in a depressed slump for the past year, I have not a clue where I am going and it scares me.

Some background info; I am 19, I live in the suburbs of LA, near Pomona, its a small suburb town and its really boring and depressing.

My interests are the manosphere, redpill thought, and researching the new world order. these are my main passions. I also am slowly picking up on game tips and saying hello to girls, but that's not my main concern right now.

I am so confused. I wake up everyday and just either go to the gym, take a walk, and browse the web. I don't have any work experience and I am not too keen on getting a McDonald's job. If I could manage it, My passion would be creating my own web site, or blog, or maybe do some talk radio. There is so much competition in the alternative media that I don't think I could get an audience, who wants to listen to some young punk kid?

So I am debating, should I go into debt and try to find a trade school? I am looking into gas fitting, or plumbing but this really isn't a life style I would prefer, because I wouldn't really have the energy for game or really any life style from my hard work.

Or, should I try to make my name known in the alternative media? I already have ideas of what my website would be called. I know sitting around here all day is driving me crazy, My mom tells me to go get a McDonald's job till I figure things out.

Any feedback advice much appreciated.

I grew up near there. Pomona is a ghetto place.

You could head to Cal Poly Pomona, get a Mech E degree. It won't make you rich, but it would get you off on your own and a middle class job. College isn't bad if you are doing nothing else with your life.

Your interests are fairly limited. It sounds like you just enjoy browsing manosphere blogs and forums.

Do you actually have any hobbies or experiences?

If you want to make a living broadcasting your thoughts, I've picked up the idea that you are basically selling yourself. What would you have to make others want to listen to you?

By all means, if that is your goal get started now and get experience in the field you want to pursue. Even if you fail, you will have some sort of experience to work with.

If you're desperate to get out of your town there are several options people have explained on this forum. You could be in another country now, working and living a life the average person dreams about when they have their smoking breaks.

I'd start laying down the groundwork for whatever you plan on doing in the future, you're young and have more options than you probably know what to do with.

Nothing is wrong with McDonald's if that is the best job you can get.

Also in regards to manosphere and red pill stuff, what perspective can you offer that is not covered by someone else? While it is maybe unfair to judge someone by his age, it tends to be a young man doesn't know all that much. So I am not sure how many followers a 19 year old will get that will convert into an income that a guy can survive on.

No one should try to tell you what you should do. You can seek advice but you will have to own the results. So if you pursue something you are not too hot on like college, you could not finish and have a lot of debt.

I think it would be best if you worked so job and got clear on your life goals. You are 19 one more year of being lost won't kill you if you can at least work some job. Maybe you work at McDonald's and hate it so much it motivates you to get your shit together. Taking on debt for some degree you don't care for could mess up your finances for a while .

Worse yet though is this little hint of you think you might be better than a McDonald's job. I hope I am wrong. No man should think they are better than a job when they are not working. Nothing says you cannot work on your powerful red pill thought pieces while also working.

This is a serious problem here. At 19 the original poster might have had an interesting life so far, but if you want to write thing people will read you have to spend more time building interesting life experiences to draw from. Making a living off of writing at 19 isn't very likely unless there's parents bankrolling both the living and lifestyle expenses.

There's nothing wrong with a McJob or other food service work when you are wrong. In the best case it will give you things to laugh and write about later in life. I washed dishes in highschool, that shit work then made me hungry for anything else. That kind of shit work helps you calibrate your barometer once you get into other work as far as pushing yourself to keep yourself out of a commercial kitchen. Also give some thought to catching a bus and doing some ag work harvesting fields. At this point in life you want to whet your taste for cash and build character doing work you won't want to keep up longer than you have to to find anything else.

Picking up a trade can't hurt, but if you can do the cheaper community college route for that do it over a trade school. A lot of trade schools advertise their "placement" and it ends up largely being a fiction for most of their graduates.

If earlier in school you had some sort of talent for math consider programming or an engineering field. Since you have downtime now find some texts and beat yourself with them until you find you can do that shit or realize you aren't made for it.

You could make a website or blog, but at this point in life you have to realize it is just going to be a hobby pursuit, and it isn't going to be anything other than a hobby pursuit unless you can demonstrate the ability to keep providing it fresh content everyday for at least a year or two. Still, the discipline to write regularly is one thing. Writing interesting shit is a whole different animal that requires a well of life experience to draw from. Also as you get older you'll hopeful read more shit and live through more events and be able to tell the stories through your lens of experience.

Do however keep up the gym and the walking. Youth is a tremendous asset when it comes to building and maintaining fitness. If you can't do anything else while you sort yourself out keep up being the best you you can be physically. It seriously makes a difference down the line. Once you get to job interviews fitness is often perceived as confidence, it shows you can take care of youself (unless the interviewers are all hamplanets, then all bets are off).

Thanks for the response fellas. Yeah, that does make a lot of sense, get some income flowing in from an entry level job so I can buy good camera, audio, and editing equipment later on and I can work on my writing skills. Plus, I need to know what the working world is like to grow my character.

I'm your age.

The other posters have already given great advice, but i'd like to add some things.

It seems to me that you're not very happy about yourself and where you live, and when you mention 'getting into debt at a trade school' , you don't sound very enthousiastic about it. Or your future in general.

Keep in mind that nothing comes easy. You feel 'above' working at McDonalds, but know that you can use that money later to finance your studies, hobby's or moving out. I know some guys our age who are teaching English abroad , travelling or in general just enjoying being young and alive , so don't feel pressured to go to college or university just because somebody else says so. Most young guys these days live their life being told what to do and are afraid of stepping out of their boundaries, don't be one of them. Universities and education will always be there, your younger years won't. Personally i don't plan to enter university until i'm about 21 or 22, or maybe never. Focus on getting work and life experience first. Especially if you want to be writer.

I was kind of in the same boat as you , i was unhappy where i lived, didn't know what to do, so 2 months ago i decided to take a job cleaning silos (real nasty shit but it payed well) to add to my savings while looking out for opportunities abroad.

Fast forward to now, i'm currently selling all my possesions and packing everything up as i'm about to move to Poland where i found a great job.

Life is what you make of it, there are opportunities out there, now more than ever to go after what you want, to live and work abroad. Just keep your eyes and your mind open.

Building a true career in blogging, etc., requires a lot of different things. One of those things is having something to say, something to write about. That comes from time, experience and perspective.

But that doesn't mean you should not start now. Starting now will help you develop the skills you will need later -- writing is a lot like bodybuilding -- you have to keep doing it and doing it to get better, even on days when you are unmotivated and have nothing to say.

So write -- even if it's just in a notebook like journaling.

I don't think you need to limit yourself to McDonalds, either. Think about trying different jobs -- I roofed houses for a summer, didn't make much more than McDonalds, but I got stronger/more muscles, got a great tan, and picked up some Spanish, lol. You're young enough where you can try a couple different kinds of jobs just to see what it's like.

Shit, go do one of those fishing boats for a few weeks, or find one of those overseas oil jobs. Go work on a rig for a month. At the very least, you'll meet new kinds of people and get a whole lot of stories to tell.

Get creative. Look around -- what can you do to make some money. Start mowing lawns, once you get some work, get one of your buddies to help out. Keep hustling business, start picking up day-laborers to help you out for cheap, and next thing you know, you have a legit lawncare business. You can do the same thing with power-washing houses, or refilling vending machines.

Start really observing what is going on around you and look for opportunities to capitalize on. Your choices are not either 1) McDonalds or 2) School. You've got as many choices as you've got imagination, and pursuing one doesn't mean giving up another.

Good luck man, stay positive, dream big, work hard, and keep your frame tight.

Hey 19 (this is a reference for the older folks here), there has been some good advice so far. Anyone my age (45) wants to tell a young person what they should do, or most do anyway. So I am going to try and avoid preaching.

1. Don't listen to advice. Most people that give advice have an axe to grind and are not really looking to help you but correct their own life mistakes. Look around and find mentors, people doing what you want to do, people that are with chicks you want to be with. And watch what they do, don't listen to what they say unless it matches what they are doing. Most people have no idea why they do what they do.

2. Trust your own experience. If you think something sucks, it probably does, regardless of what people are saying. If you think something rocks, then it probably, does, at least for you. Now use some judgement here. Cocaine makes you feel good but is probably not a good life choice.

3. Read. Read real books about people with incredible life experiences, not just blogs and internet forums. Use these experiences to triangulate with your own experience in making decisions.

4. Go. When I was 18 I was too afraid to really get out and experience shit. I did finally break out and when I was 19 I drove across the country, then went back home, moved to another city, started a business with two other guys, had some awesome relationships, traveled to southeast asia at 20.

5. Save. Having a warchest or bankroll can really change your confidence. Since I was your age I have usually maintained a "fuck you" fund. So if I need to relocate or quit a job or try to start a business then I can. It has saved my ass and reduced my stress. I have seen many friends make much more money than I and fuck it all away on bullshit and friends that make tons of money but live paycheck to paycheck.

6. Build skills and capabilities. During my 20's I learned a couple of skills that I have banked on off and on in different cities and different times. If you have skills and you can hustle then you can aways take care of yourself.

7. Dump people that do not support your goals. Enough said.

Consider pizza delivery, if you have a car. Ideally a fuel-efficient but kinda old car, so you're not depreciating it's value too much. It was a great job for me that I had right around the time I got in the game. It was a great way to help build my social skills, and now and then a banging hot girl answers the door to get the pizza. If I had the skills then that I have now, I'm sure I coulda had some bangs while on the clock.

The NWO stuff can make you weird, or make you deep and interesting. It all depends how you frame it. Don't be a paranoid, conspiracy guy. Rather, a guy who knows things that others don't. A deeper spiritual side, and you see through to the essence of things, see through the facade. Don't try to tell or convince girls of anything. You know the Illuminati tactics? Well they just game/manipulate societies.

You NEED some positive emotions. Just go to fucking work dude. Anywhere. Once you start making some money you'll feel different and your outlook on everything will change. I imagine your driving distance from L.A.? Which is like one of the hippest cities in the world. I live in fucking North Dakota bro. Make some money and drive to the damn city and see what kind of fun you can have.
Stay the fuck away from blogs! Reading is great, but you need experience. Get out. Talk to girls. An obsession with the "new world order" and similar things is not going to serve you at all. You're obviously a guy who likes to think. I love it too. But thinking isn't living. Go pimp some hoes dude. Once you start living a little ️your perspective will change and you will have more and better reason behind the decisions you have to make. Too much time focused on the perils of man is just going to depress you. If the "manosphere" stuff isn't getting you laid move on.

You said that you were looking into plumbing, I work in construction everyday, and plumbing isn't at all "hard." A starter position working for a licensed plumber in the residential sector would mostly entail drilling holes in wood, putting small, flexible pipes in place and squeezing "crimpers." Its not a hard job by any means, depending on the weather... I did that for a couple years. however you will at no point, during the work day, look as presentable as you would like to talk to women..

edit: on the east coast of NC, if you take initiative on your first job, you can start at 2-3 dollars above minimum wage... if you learn quickly and will actually work, you can do much better. (I work in conjunction with a guy who makes $1000 (one thousand) for 2 good days work. Just my experiences with what you said you were interested in. I wish you the best.

Plenty of great advice here already. I'm almost 22 so I always like to check this kind of threads. My 2 cents: travel and get some real hobbies. We all like the manosphere etc but I don't really think it qualifies as a hobby. You mention you already hit the gym so that's great. Try learning a foreign language, picking up a sport or learn how to play an instrument. In addition to that, save some money through ANY job and go spend some time abroad. Travelling puts everything into perspective. There might be many things you hate or love about LA that you have never questioned and assume are like that everywhere else (e.g girl's attitudes, lifestyle, a city's vibe...etc). The new experiences you'll get will also help your writing.

Just a random thought. Work on a cruise liner. Just go do something fun while young. Just for a year. Something where you can save cash. The guys on here have given you some great ideas.

Wow, well there is a lot of good information and advice in here, It will take me a while to soak all of it in, but I'm pretty sure if I could work for a year and save about 5k, I could probably live in another country for a month, I want to visit Brazil, Ecuador, East Europe in my lifetime. I do need more hobbies. I'm a very serious type of person so a lot of the time I feel like I am 40 or something its weird. I also need to stop mooching off my parents I feel horrible that they pay for me still. again, thanks for the advice guys I really appreciate it.

I've considered that myself not too long ago.

There are some crazy adventures to be had when working on a cruise ship man. Wild fuckfests with other crew members and such. I know some guys who did this, it's very hard and long work and definitely not something you would want to do for a long time but for a year or so, fuck yeah.

Here are some good stories.

OP, I hate to say this, but you're too young AND inexperienced to have your "main" passions be the manosphere and red pill blogs.

Applying these concepts to your lifestyle is great but you need a lifestyle to be there first.

And another thing. The manosphere somehow dilutes the true value of college. Somehow college is seen as a time suck. I staunchly disagree with this. Truth is, it's one of the best things you can do for yourself; just don't go into some bullshit liberal arts program. You can make a lot of good connections there that will serve you well later in life. I speak from experience.

If you truly don't want to do that, trade school is fine as well. Other option is military. I joined the U.S. Navy and don't regret any experiences or relationships I made there.

Overall my recommendation is to lay off the manosphere and experience real life based on these suggestions.

Manosphere and red pill are movements, not enablers of personal growth.

You're 19 years old listening to your mother.

Please get a job. Highly recommend military, since it seems like you're not prepared for all the shitty intermediary steps of the other one.

And theres zero money in the radio business without a massive amount of hard work and time.

Get a job. McD or anything else.
The money isn't much but you'll get:
1) An appreciation of the value of work. You'llmeet people not working to buy a camera or hobby type items, but to help support a family. Willmake you grateful for what you have.
2) Learn to have a work ethic, a schedule. The importance of grunt work. I eventually owned my own business, but if there was shit work to be done (get rid of water after rain from roof, carry heavy items) I had to do it, not just the fun part.
3) Learn what good and bad management is by observing the manager.
4) Learn what it takes to run a business. A time tested way to go into business is towork for someone else first to learn the ropes so you don't make the typicalmistakes. What you learn at McD isn't applicable just to McD or restaurants, but to all kinds ofother businesses.
5) Motivate you to get an education and skills (academic or blue collar skill) so you don't dogrunt workfor minimum wage. Working summers in a warehouse with no air conditioning suredid it for me.
6) Show a future employer that you had the discipline to show up on time and do the work.
7) Feel like an adult whocan earn his own money instead of a kid bumming money from his parents.

Reading blogs and playing videogames will NOT help you figure out your life.
