Dozens of rich men trapped on a boat with short haired feminist Laurie Penny

Laurie Penny : Previously, previously, previously, previously

Somehow people still give her money to write stupid shit on the internet.

Four Days Trapped at Sea With Crypto’s Nouveau Riche
https://breakermag.com/trapped-at-sea-wi...veau-riche

Spoiler alert: after 4 days her unspoken dream of finding a charming billionaire to save her from her empty boring life is still unfulfilled. Crypto nerds and businessmen alike don't want anything to do with a dumpy short-haired feminist harpy, I guess.

Two months ago, an editor from BREAKER called and asked if I wanted to go on a four-day Mediterranean cruise with hundreds of crypto-crazed investors and evangelists. We’ll cover the travel, he said. Write something long about whatever you find, he said. It was 2 a.m. and I was over-caffeinated. I remember explaining that I know almost nothing about either cruises or blockchain, in the way that Sir Ian McKellen, in the criminally underrated series Extras, explains that he is not actually a wizard. Five days later I was at the port of Barcelona, boarding a ship. By which point it was way too late to wonder for the umpteenth time about my life choices.

"I am incompetent and incapable of functioning as an adult"

Quote:Quote:

and I knew, too, that cryptocurrencies are the pet untraceable funding model of the far-right.

"See above note about professional incompetence"

Quote:Quote:

After his event, the attendees mob the aisles to get closer to their heroes—entirely ignoring the “beautiful ladies” who the host tells us have just taken the stage for the “women in blockchain” panel. It’s a shame, because they miss moderator Olga Feldmeier’s summation, delivered in a pitch-perfect Russian lilt: “Being a woman in blockchain,” she says, “is like riding a bicycle. Except the bicycle is on fire. And everything is on fire. And you are going to hell.”

Hey, look at that! Nobody gives a shit about listening to a woman complaining.

The sea-swell swaying hallways are full of moody Eastern European teenagers in impractical heels. “We’re here as…as help,” one of them tells me in the elevator. She doesn’t look up from her phone.

Because insinuating younger hotter women are prostitutes is a feminist action.

The men I meet are only too keen to tell me how refreshingly different I am from the other girls here. They’re right. I’m different from the other girls in that I’m older, have more social capital, and am probably getting paid more. That means I can afford to have less patience.

The other girls are still younger and hotter though.

One of the ways men bond is by demonstrating collective power over women. This is why business deals are still done in strip clubs, even in Silicon Valley, and why tech conferences are famous for their “booth babes.” It creates an atmosphere of complicity and privilege. It makes rich men partners in crime. This is useful if you plan to get ethically imaginative with your investments. Hence the half-naked models, who are all working a lot harder than any of the guys in shirtsleeves.

Thanks for femsplaining the motivations of successful businessmen. It couldn't be that men have money and men like attractive women.

Quote:Quote:

She is skeptical about the all the evangelizing. “When these women talk about how it’s a new industry, there are not as many barriers, we can build it to be how we want it…I just think that’s bullshit, because the crypto space didn’t just evolve out of nowhere. A lot of the evangelizing of it came from places that are actually hostile to women, like 4chan. Blockchain doesn’t need more women, it needs more feminists.”

“I guess neither of us are a lot of fun to be with,” I say, quoting the women-in-blockchain panel. She giggles, then grimaces.

Yep, nobody likes you yet you still expect them to care about your bleatings.

Not every guy is having a blast. Josh, an Australian activist and hacker who was sent on this cruise “as a treat for work,” is not enjoying himself. Why? “Because of chauvinism, misogyny,” he says. “I’ve witnessed people who are supposed to be thought leaders in this space talking over women on panel discussions when the woman was right.” He gestures to the hostesses, who surround us on the neon-drenched deck. “And they—they don’t wanna be here, it’s work for them. It’s just another misogynistic exercise to make us nerds look like we’re cool in the photos. It feels a little bit like a brothel. It’s gross.”

Josh sounds like a homosexual. Alternatively, conversations that never happened.

Growing up in the U.K., the Spanish island of Ibiza was a byword for drunk British jocks on holiday, heading out to pick up exotic new tunes and entirely predictable infections. I didn’t realize it was also a stunningly beautiful place

Intelligent, educated, yet completely ignorant beyond tabloid details about somewhere that millions of Britons have visited.

For the TL;DR just read the comments.

They will literally try to infiltrate and co-opt anything that has to do with money. It doesn't matter they have zero relevant skills.

"You don't have to be a coder to be involved in block chain"

Just LOL.

"Sites like 4chan are hostile to women, so block chain isn't male dominated by accident"

Yes, I'm sure that why. The hamster is strong in this one.

Oh I'm sure they are keen to tell you that, in a non-sarcastic way I presume and as for the social capital claptrap, she can fuck right off.

I'll add this to the 'did not happen pile', seriously this bint is insufferable.

That's the most interesting part of the article.

Hmm. What group would care if there's a male space where women aren't valued as leaders or if people believe in Jesus Christ? What group would find Maleness or Christianity, well, offensive enough that they'd want to infiltrate and propagandize against such an event by wasting money funding the trip of a typist like Penny, who you can guarantee to be see things through a bitter and miserable lens, but without enough engaging bile to make it anything more than a lightweight piece regardless, the way a good writer could.

You don't even need to go to ancestry.com to guess the background of those names, but, if you do, it's exactly what you'd expect.

The stupid female typists themselves are irrelevant. People should be paying attention to those who fund hatred.

All of this scoffing is puerile and immature. When I think of the traits I find most attractive in a woman, "more social capital" and "less patience" rank near the top of the list.

She presents another odious example of entryism. Hers is a similar shtick used by wannabes just like her with shitty, discolored haircuts, too many tattoos and chips on their shoulders polluting the gaming, hacking and IT conference circuits. Whether they seek to present as instant PhDs on a subject they know little about or just comment and ankle-bite as is the case here, it was only a matter of time before these trolls showed up in the crypto world too.

Notice that she can't even differentiate between crypto currencies and blockchain, let alone set aside her transparent rage long enough to stop and think how ridiculous some of her allegations and made up conversations sound. Business deals regularly conducted in strip clubs - in Silicon Valley. LMAO! Yeah, I'm sure homosexuals like Tim Cook and Peter Theil were ordering bottle service and lap dances from fake-titted bimbos while they made their billions in topless bars. Please.

No matter what the venue, club music is too loud, everyone is hammered and people can't converse effectively, especially not heterosexual males distracted by jiggling T&A. Clubs are for celebrating and blowing off steam AFTER the deal is already made. Duh.

Many "tech" conferences are little more than a series of presentations of varying content quality, often manifesting as fluff to fill the spaces between the deals and side meetings among attendees. Those private meetings, not rants from some irrelevant spinster, are why people go to these conferences. But I guess if you have nothing to offer anyone business wise, you will never have those meetings with anyone. So you don't like being left out while the boys do their thing at a level you can't understand? Easy enough - just blame the patriarchy.

I got curious about the woman on the tired cliche bicycle ride to hell. A) She isn't Russian, she's Ukranian but the typist didn't bother to research that part, and B) while she has a finance background, as I suspected, she married into the crypto-biz.

What money either her or her husband really earns is a mystery but there's no indication Olga was held back from climbing the ladder. She's just better positioned to move up than some short haired, embittered UK cunt having imaginary elevator conversations with soy boys.

Ashlie Meredith: Like I said, Alan an all women panel full of successful investors talking about investing. That seems like something crypto-fans would want to hear about, and would give equal voice to the 50% of the population that is not accurately represented in the industries like finance and tech

Paulo Chan:An all women panel? What relevance has their gender got to do with anything?

Do you get why people are so opposed to your anti-meritocratic bullshit?

And no, I don't to hear from an all women panel who are investors.
I don't want to hear from a specifically all male panel either.

I want to hear from SUCCESSFUL investors. Got it?

This quote is pretty revealing in the sense that it demonstrates just how self-centered and factually incorrect the feminist argument is. The core of their argument is that everything men do which involves women is premediated by a conscious construction of power and oppression. This is ridiculous, intellectually lazy, and is backed by zero evidence, but nevertheless is taught in Academia to be Gospel. It is also absorbed and accepted as such.

In the absence of religion or some set of legitimate cultural values, this is what the feminists turn to - it is their rallying cry. It is their religion.

So, it's no surprise that a brainwashed feminist, rather than engage in any critical thought, is all too eager to fit this latest experience into the box of what she already believes: That men are evil.

Who I am is just the habit of what I always was, and who I'll be is the result
