Tickets were $1100+ out of NYC, so flying to LA instead for $300 and renting a car with a buddy to make the drive into Vegas. Always wanted to do that anyways.

Anyone else planning to be out that weekend?

I imagine it will be one of the craziest weekends ever there. Should be a fucking blast. Most likely staying at Paris since my buddy was able to comp me a room.

Would clubs even be worth it? I imagine it'd be best to skip the craziness of the clubs, and swoop all the girls running around the nicer hotels.

There will be guys with CASH in those clubs and in the casino..... From my vegas experience all the hotties are brought to the booths by the bouncers etc etc, so unless you plan on blowing a small fortune then go to the clubs.
The bars in the hotels and restaurants could be worthwhile.

I'll be there. In order to see the fight, even on T.V., you have to by tickets to a viewing party. I imagine the tickets for those parties will go on sale about a month before the fight and should sell out pretty fast. I think I'll be watching it at either Hyde or the Hustler Club. The ticket at Hustler Club includes a limo ride to the viewing party. I'll probably be pretty nervous until after I cash in Saturday night, so I don't think I'll be doing much on Thursday or Friday. On Saturday night, I'll probably do some combination of a latin club (really hit or miss), XS, and Surrender. I'll probably buy tickets beforehand for both XS and Surrender. On Sunday, I think I'll do either Wet Republic or EBC and buy a ticket beforehand. If you are staying at Paris, make sure to try Cafe Martorano downstairs.

Good call on that. Didn't realized I would need tickets to even watch on TV, but guess that makes sense as that's usually how it is here in NYC and that shit is on Pay-Per-View. I'll keep you posted on my plans that weekend as I figure them out.

Merenguero, I assume your are betting on Mayweather based on your prior boxing posts?

He has always won but I'd have a heart attack if I lost $10,000 or whatever amount it's you typically bet.

I'm betting half that the fight goes over 11 1/2 rounds and half on Mayweather. I won't lose it all, but I have more of a risk of losing something than I have in the past. I'll be working with over $10,000, but it will be less than every other time I have gone there. Thanks to the snow and some other factors, February was my worst month since I started practicing law.

I'll be there for the fight. Should be epic, and the clubs will be great as well.

I'd definitely stay away from a top tier club that night (Hakkasan, XS or Omnia). Its going to be super expensive and its going to be more show-offs than girls wanting to hookup. I'd also watch the fight somewhere within EASY WALKING distance to where you intend to spend the night. Taxis will just be out of control that night, you'll be waiting in hour+ lines. I saw the OP is at Planet Hollywood. VERY convenient to the Monorail to MGM. What I would do is probably go to MGM, drink and get the fight atmosphere, try to talk to girls at the bars at MGM and then have tickets to watch it at a sports bar in the Miracle Mile shops (i.e. Blondies or PBR if they have tickets for the fight). I'd probably go to Marquee with presale since you're essentially across the street (kind of), just show up right after the fight before the long lines form. Actually scrap the Miracle Mile mall bar idea, find the viewing party INSIDE the Cosmopolitan and then go to Marquee right afterwards.

If I were you, I'd probably also consider going to Wet Republic (again, take the monorail there). Just show up early.

I will be out of the country, but honestly, not too into this fight due to the delays. I've been there on many fight weekends, including Tyson fight weekends and the vibe is unreal.

Hang out at the MGM most of the day, it'll be wild everywhere. Even with presale tickets at clubs they'll want an arrival early in the evening, it'll be oversold and just a total shitshow.

This is the line coming out of the MGM Pay-Per-View area. Honestly, I love just hanging out in the entrance to the Grand Garden and watching all the pimps (in versace, etc) floss their gear and their hoes. Its quite a spectacle.

Buy your fight tickets for closed circuit as soon as they release them. They WILL all sell out and they WILL increase in price. I'm guessing just to watch at MGM on Closed Circuit, you're looking at $100-125 per ticket. Some places like Blondies in Planet Hollywood will have packages with unlimited beers for like $60.

Also, keep in mind, people will be a bit more tired from watching the fight earlier and drinking, the hassles of all the crowds, etc. Also, in the big clubs, everyone will be looking for the celebrities at the big tables, its a total distraction.

Let me just give you an example. For the Mayweather/Alvarez fight, I stayed at the Palms, placed my bet at the MGM Grand, and watched the fight at Monte Carlo. Complete logistical nightmare. It didn't help that I had two pockets full of hundred dollar bills. Do all three at the same hotel if at all possible. If I watch the fight at Hustler Club and place my bet off the strip, I can avoid the strip entirely until after the fight. If I go to Hyde, I may be able to sneak over to Tuscany, which is on Flamingo and off the strip and catch a taxi there. I think Hustler Club is my best bet though. The strip will be a complete zoo before, during, and after the fight.

Drazen, great post, but I really doubt that Cosmopolitan will be showing the fight. Options should be MGM Grand, Hyde, Monte Carlo, Mandalay Bay, Mirage, Aria, Planet Hollywood, Hustler, Miller's Ale House, and Sapphire.

Awesome posts guys. Appreciate the insight. Do you really think all the Casino's wouldn't be showing the fights? Hard to imagine Cosmo wouldn't have it on somewhere and charge people a bunch of $$ to watch it. You guys know better than I though.

Also, are strip clubs really a good spot to catch the fight? Any regular girls at those spots? I've come close to getting girls out of Rhino before, but I figure a weekend like this they'd all be about those benji's and not looking to leave or even meet guys after work for free...

My buddy will be staying at Wynn. So might hang around there for the fight and party afterwards. Haven't been to XS yet and he usually gets the hook up, already has a comped room for the weekend, so might be able to skip the line.

I'm pretty sure all the places I mentioned will be showing the fight. Some other places may be showing it as well. I've never been to a strip club to watch a fight, so I really can't comment on it. Just make sure you buy tickets well in advance. I'll try to post as soon as the tickets are for sale. In my experience, Hustler is the easiest strip club there and have to disagree with the guys saying Spearmint Rhino is the easiest. All are much more difficult than Miami strip clubs. There's really no comparison.

Yep appreciate the advice man. Last time I was at Rhino I had multiple girls say they'd leave with me but then disappeared. Guess they found a guy willing to pay. It was March Madness weekend so probably not ideal setup for me.

Please do post when you see the tickets go on sale. I'll do the same. Will be an epic weekend for sure!

The idea is that whatever hotel company agrees to pay the most money to HBO/Showtime, gets exclusive rights to show the fight. Since there are so many MGM Grand properties and so many places to see the fight among all those properties, it only really makes sense that the fight is shown there. The three places I mentioned off the strip obviously aren't hotels and I guess enter into some kind of subcontract with MGM Grand. When you think about it, it wouldn't make sense for the Wynn or someplace like that to have exclusive rights, because after selling out XS, Tryst, Surrender, and the theater, there probably wouldn't be much more room for people to watch the fight and they might really struggle to even break even with the millions and millions that they would have to pay for exclusive rights.

There are two styles of fighters who could beat Mayweather. The first style is that of a huge puncher. Tyson, Golovkin, Wilder, and Kovalev come to mind. Pacquiao has power, but I doubt could be considered a huge puncher, especially with his lack of knockouts over the last few years. The second kind of fighter is a guy with a really high punch output. The reason why I say this is that if you are fighting the best defensive boxer ever and you aren't a huge puncher, the only real way to beat him is by throwing and possibly landing an extremely high number of punches. Fairly high punch output won't cut it when guys land such a low percentage on Mayweather. This is where Maidana solved (almost) the puzzle in the first fight. He had an extremely high punch output and therefore landed more on Mayweather than the other guys did. The problem Pacquiao has here is that although hen isn't conservative with his output like Mayweather and Alvarez can be, he isn't a huge volume puncher like he needs to be. Watch both Bradley fights and tell me that with his punch output in those two fights, he will land enough on Mayweather to win on the cards. Mayweather by decision unless Pacquiao gets caught by something big or something fishy happens on the scorecards.

This is what I find concerning about betting on Mayweather.

Everyone in boxing is tired of Mayweather, and they hate that he is taking all the money.

HBO/Showtime is tired of his negotiating tactics and his monopoly.

The promoters hate him because they're not making anything off him.

There is an opinion that if Mayweather is everything that is wrong with boxing, Manny is everything that is good about boxing.

All the powers that be want to finally see his record get tarnished.

I just saw one of the worst seats in the house for sale at over $5,000. I also saw a seat that wasn't even that good for $30,000.

Here's my honest 2 cents:
Going to Vegas to watch the fight, the celebs, eat well and gamble on fight week is a good idea BUT to any wannabe players here who think that Vegas is good for hooking up during fight week you are way off. I remember going to Vegas a few years back during UFC weekend and it was so full of dudes that even after getting VIP access to a club at Bellagio I still left early frustrated. Also, unless one is a super high-roller and can get tables, the dance floors and club lines are just gonna be a madhouse (even Steve Mcqueen won't be able to help you), too many people to dance, talk, or do anything else.

I would think the only place that "might" be worth going to May 2nd weekend, to escape the bad ratios and huge crowds might be Red Rocks Casino off the strip.

I don't think good logistics for scoring and watching fights go together. You get one or the other. If you want to see a fight go when there's a fight. If you want good chances/logistics for scoring find out when there's a nurse or veterinary convention and stay at the same hotel as the convention.

There are a number of things that can affect a legal practice's monthly income.

Common ones are:

1) Being assessed - This is where clients / former clients argue that your bill is too high.

2) Low season (Where I am this is typically July and August as children are out of school a lot of people are travelling / taking time off including lawyers.)

3) Insurance deductible

4) Unpaid accounts.

5) Real Estate practice - When are homes built? In the spring through fall. I'd imagine volume of work for sales is also much higher during this time.

6) Termination of a staff member without cause or notice. (Have to pay them...not sure if this applies in America) It can also lead to an unproductive office during the short term if a lawyer lacks staff as they end up doing more non-billable and administrative tasks.

7) Trial sittings - This goes both ways. In certain areas in Ontario trial sittings are held on fixed weeks throughout the year. A typical trial sitting would be 3 weeks. A Litigation lawyer whose trials all settle prior may end up with limited work during this period. I again don't know if the same is true in the US.

I'm not sure if this is a serious question, but I'll treat it as such whatever the case may be. If I am snowed in, I obviously can't go to my office and retain new clients, have existing clients pay me, or take some of the steps I take in order to attract new clients. If there is enough snow on the ground, the courts may be closed, in which case it is really impossible for me to resolve some cases and in some cases, get paid. If I am not snowed in and the court is not closed, people are still much less likely to come to my office if there is a lot of snow and/or ice on the ground. In addition, if the weather is really awful, people will not be out and about, and therefore will not be getting arrested as much and the police and private citizens will not be filing nearly as many charges. Also, the vast majority of my clients are blue collar workers who work outdoors, so unless their job is snow removal (doubtful), there is much less money to go around when it is cold out.

Like I stated earlier, if you plan ahead and watch the fight within striking distance of where you will be that night AND get in ahead of time, it won't be too bad. Go to second tier clubs, they'll be like first tier clubs since the "hot to normal" girls at those clubs will be pushed out by the super high end girls and the hot girls will just go to second tier spots. The girls who usually go to second tier will go to third tier and the third tier girls will...drink in their rooms with their friends.

Using the fight as an ice breaker is REALLY easy to do as well.

I cosign everything Drazen wrote. The dilemma I have is that I like to cash in immediately after the fight, then I obviously have to go back to my room to lock my money in the safe, because I don't want to be walking around with all that money. If I do everything off the strip, then make a beeline to the club after locking the money in the safe, I think I can get to the club early enough. And yeah, the fight is a good opener.

I'll be out there. plane tickets are through the roof (I live in Iowa). I'm also thinking about flying into LA but instead of driving, maybe taking a shuttle. I have a friend driving up from San Diego so I could fly into SNA and have him pick me up on the way. IMO clubs will not be worth it at least not the big ones like Hakkasan (might as well forget about getting in here), Marquee, Surrender, etc. unless you have a connection. Even if you have one I'm sure drinks will be twice as much, bitch shields will be in overdrive, and guys with too much money who used to wear Ed Hardy will be swarming. I'm going to find a 2nd tier club, maybe one that only locals go to.

Even though they aren't on sale yet I am going to try to buy a couple of tickets. My reasoning is if I somehow get them when they go onsale to the public I can probably sell them for double.

And if anyone else is coming, hotels are about 5x the price, but I seem to have found one that is too stupid to raise their prices (probably because it isn't open yet): https://www.starwoodhotels.com/preferred...rtyID=4186 The Four Points Las Vegas East Flamingo $189 a night. Its off the strip and about half a mile North of the hard rock and about 1.5 miles directly east of the Bellagio, but close enough for me considering the savings.
