Bodily attractiveness and egalitarianism are negatively related in males

Interesting study from EvoPsych:

Quote:Quote:

ABSTRACT

Ancestrally, relatively attractive individuals and relatively formidable males may have had reduced incentives to be egalitarian (i.e., to act in accordance with norms promoting social equality). If selection calibrated one’s egalitarianism to one’s attractiveness/formidability, then such people may exhibit reduced egalitarianism (“observed egalitarianism”) and be perceived by others as less egalitarian (“perceived egalitarianism”) in modern environments. To investigate, we created 3D body models of 125 participants to use both as a source of anthropometric measurements and as stimuli to obtain ratings of bodily attractiveness and perceived egalitarianism. We also measured observed egalitarianism (via an economic “dictator” game) and indices of political egalitarianism (preference for socialism over capitalism) and “equity sensitivity.” Results indicated higher egalitarianism levels in women than in men, and moderate-to-strong negative relationships between (a) attractiveness and observed egalitarianism among men, (b) attractiveness and perceived egalitarianism among both sexes, and © formidability and perceived egalitarianism among men. We did not find support for two previously-reported findings: that observed egalitarianism and formidability are negatively related in men, and that wealth and formidability interact to explain variance in male egalitarianism. However, this lack of support may have been due to differences in variable measurement between our study and previous studies.

The below average want equality.

The above average want freedom of opportunity.

I'm all for equal rights in the eyes of the Law,

but I can't help but feel that Equality is mutually incompatible with self-improvement.

If a fat woman is told she is equally attractive to a thin woman, what reason does the fat woman have to become thin?

What reason does the thin woman have to use effort to maintain her weight?

Inequality is the spice of life!

Edit: polar nailed it.

Note that although equity sensitivity includes “equity” in its name, it does not measure equity as this term is conventionally defined in the organizational behavior literature, that is, in relation to the extent to which one’s “inputs” [e.g., work effort] are proportional to one’s “outcomes”...

Basically, they measured how much people support socialism and how much people are willing to kiss ass within a group in order to remain a member of it. Losers support socialism and are willing to give up a ton of resources to retain membership in some group. This isn't surprising at all. Losers do not support fairness, they support stealing from winners and redistributing to losers. That results in a more equal distribution of whatever it is they're redistributing but a less equitable distribution.

The word equality has been conflated with a different construct by losers.

Equality of opportunity is a good thing, such as access to primary and secondary education. A skilled workforce has created immense wealth. The opportunity for anyone to improve themselves via socialised education is equal opportunity

Equality of outcomes has meant liberal arts degree holders in government jobs get paid as much as research scientists. This rewards those of lesser capability, or lesser effort, equal to their betters.

Losers have, as I said, conflated them to mean the same thing.

Victor Pride said it best, saying "No" is liberating.

The former case is equitable treatment, not equality. We have to put forward that we don't believe in equality, that equality doesn't exist.

We perhaps believe in equitable treatment, and let talent and effort fall where it may.

The increased egalitarianism of women may be farce. When it comes to women choosing mates, equality does not excite them - male supremacy does. They are drawn to richer, bigger, taller, smarter men.

This isn't to demean or praise women, just that an analysis that only considers a woman's personal opinions is incomplete and therefore apt to mislead and yield false conclusions. A woman can say anything she likes, and even privately support equality, but when women en masse reward inegalitarianism with their sexual favor, they cannot be said to truly favor equality, for they are actively complicit in diminishing it. What you reward, you get more of. Women's "revealed preference" settles the score.

Equality of opportunity =/= Equality of outcome

It was not their irritating assumption of equality that annoyed Nicholai so much as their cultural confusions. The Americans seemed to confuse standard of living with quality of life, equal opportunity with institutionalized mediocrity, bravery with courage, machismo with manhood, liberty with freedom, wordiness with articulation, fun with pleasure—in short, all of the misconceptions common to those who assume that justice implies equality for all, rather than equality for equals.

This is just another one of those obvious truths that display the layers of accumulated blue pill indoctrination and mental impotence of our culture if we need science to prove this to us.

This.

The left work under the paradigm that if there were true equality of opportunity in the world, the outcomes would also be equal.

Thomas Sowell(economist, libertarian/free market conservative) has great insight on just this subject:

They should do a study on female attractiveness and feminist beliefs.

It's always funny when science confirms common knowledge decades/hundred years old, such as ugly women are feminist and weak men vote left.

Relevant. From HBDers I was watching while exploring the idea of HBD. While not convinced of that, these videos are pretty inescapable. Stating that because they do touch on it and I am not promoting that idea.

Skip to 8 minutes and 40 seconds, the rest is irrelevant. This one is more HBD-ey, so if that annoys you then don't watch. I get it.

I'm average or below but "formidable" (I'm a big dude) at least I got one of the inequality traits.
