I have only recently come to this conclusion. I mean what can it possibly be other than a tool for indulging in narcissism or some kind surveillance operation? All the people you hoped you would never see again are now just a mouse-click away, even if you're not friends with them the chances are they will be a friend of a friend. Different groups you'd never want to have in the same room together are now all in one space like some nightmarish paranoid circus. People construct false identities and become addicted to fishing for complements. The inanity of someone taking a photo of a plate of food and publishing it on the internet instead of fucking eating it is driving me insane. One of the wost things about living in a small town is that everyone knows everyone else and everyone likes to stick their nose into everyone's business. Social Media brings this small town feminine gossipy shit to every home.

Social media is populated by more females than males and this is despite it being a tech-based platform. When any institution becomes more than about 30% female it has basically been emasculated and female culture prevails. Every woman has a narcissistic monster lurking inside her but it took Facebook to release it. I really think social media has been designed around a woman's mind. It's all about hoarding "friends", expressing approved opinions and getting that narcissistic buzz of endorphins when attention and complements flow your way. In a way Social Media is pornography for women. Men zone out on porn and see so much tits and ass their eyes bug out. Women now have a tool for unlimited gossip, conformity, attention and status.

Back in the 80s when life was a lot simpler and there was a lot less bullshit your only source of information outside your immediate circle of friends and family was the tightly controlled mainstream media. There was less freedom but society was more homogeneous ideologically. With social media people now exist in ideological echo chambers and get progressively more radical as they reinforce each others world view, hence the rise of the SJW. I always believed that in an open marketplace of ideas common sense would prevail, how wrong I was. (Rant over for now)

Do not use it if you do not like it. I unfollowed 98% of my "friends" on facebook, so I do not see their stupid posts. I only use it as like an RSS feed for the sites I like, and if someone checks my account would think I am "normal" because I have facebook and normal amount of friends.

Decent comparison in my book, except it goes beyond the privacy and seediness of a dark bedroom and is projected onto other peoples' lives.

I went out with an old female friend of mine on Friday evening, we agreed we would wingman for each other (there is no attraction/boner test there). She spent the night taking selfies, videos etc and uploading them to FB, IG, Snapchat, Twitter and god knows what else.

This is one thing, but when I don't even have snapchat and I get messages from my mates the next day that do have it, saying "good night last night lad? Seen you putting it about"... that is another.

Even if you're not on these social media channels, there is now a make-shift, scaled-down Paparazzi following you on your nights out and broadcasting it to your friends, friends-of-friends and beyond.

It hasn't hindered me any.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Facebook is primarily for women, homos and braggarts. I think I should also add "companies" to that list since they do use it to advertise their products and services.

When I had Facebook it was always a bunch of women posting pointless shit, uploading selfies and just generally being annoying.

The men on there I was friends with, aside from a faux rich beta who was always posting pictures of himself spending more than he could afford on nice things in order to try to score gold digger pussy, rarely posted anything at all.

I am not a game expert so I imagine there are probably ways you can use it to make yourself seem more high value to women, but for me FB is simply too intrusive and too annoying to bother with.

On the other hand you can also use your lack of a FB account to make yourself seem more mysterious.

This is an easy one. Anyone who runs into this should tell them they got rid of it due to security concerns and go on about how Facebook accounts are easily hacked and family and friends are often victimized by hackers.

On the contrary, I am thankful for social media if for no other reason that I can now "mark" women who engage in such foolishness. If you see a girl you like on there slandering some other dude then you can bet the ranch she will do the same to you given enough time.

Up until a few years ago it was like that. There's so many dummy accounts now it can't even be taken seriously.

I'm convinced it's become an NSA spying tool hidden in plain sight. This probably was the original endgame of facebook.

Another thing, people who had facebook when it was college-only don't seem as invested in it as those who recently discovered it.

I've seen this. The worst is when they make an appeal for cash or favors with some sob story and these faggots reply like flies on shit. I don't interact with people over facebook, except to send simple instructions. "Meet me here at xx:xx" and things like that.

The primary value I get from facebook is to quietly follow the lives of people I used to know. In the past, I had certain ideas about everyone built up in my head. Comparing those ideas to the reality of their lives now teaches me some very valuable lessons, and continues to do so. I would never delete my account.
