Female military veterans struggle to get "military sexual trauma" compensation

Recent Washington post article detailing MST.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/f...ml?hpid=z1

Quote:Quote:

The department labels it “military sexual trauma” (MST), covering any unwanted contact, including sexual innuendo, groping and rape.

A recent VA survey found that 1 in 4 women said they experienced sexual harassment or assault.

Quote:Quote:

This year, it became easier for survivors of sexual trauma to get treatment because the government ended the requirement that military members produce proof that they were assaulted or harassed before they get health care.

But advocates say thousands of female veterans confront an even larger problem: They are unable to get disability compensation benefits for sexual trauma because they do not have enough paperwork to support their claims. Advocacy groups and VA officials blame a culture of secrecy and denial inside the military that heavily discourages women from reporting sexual assault.

If I was a woman who had been forcefully raped inside her barracks, I would be utterly outraged upon being put in the same group as someone who had just "overheard sexual innuendo".

The fact that there are no such voices being outraged tells me that both of these categories are bullshit that happens about as often as solar eclipse.

Unfortunately the trend is in the other direction, women in combat units. God help us when the Chinese decide to fight the US.

Claiming a rape 15 years ago will be a quick route to a VA disability check.

Many years ago in the early 1990s the USMC commandant Gen. Mundy suggested (and actually tried) making the USMC not just all male, but all single men. The idea was that married military people were sucking up too much social welfare resources. And the military was not supposed to be a fucking social welfare organization.

Those days are long, long gone. He was pilloried for suggesting the idea. You can still find articles about it on Google.

We are so done.

Perhaps the women can think of it as training for the post-defeat?

If and when the Chinese are dumb enough or desperate enough to really go for it, they won't know what hit them -- especially if we suffer a few humiliating early setbacks that will force us to have to win decisively for a change.

Yes, these bitches and faggots and so on running around in combat units are absurd and ludicrous, but don't let that distract you from the basic reality -- which is that the US military is a terrifying machine that has no equals or real competitors. Once it gets cranking and things get serious, it will destroy anything and everything in its path.

It is easy to become sidetracked by certain secondary phenomena -- which can be very distracting, for sure -- and stop paying attention to the basics. For example, if you look at a town like Cambridge, Mass., it is easy to think that all it is is whores and manginas running around and making up false sexual assault accusations. And of course that is there, and it's not wrong or irrelevant to take note of it. But what is even more relevant is that within the same few squared miles radius there are some very, very smart and patient Indian geeks at Harvard and MIT who are figuring out solutions to technical problems that will move the whole species forward and result in game-changing advances. The whores who post on xoJane are loud and the geeks are usually not as loud but if you really have to decide which of the two things going on in Cambridge Mass is of greater consequence, it's a pretty easy choice.

The US military is no different. One can note the outright evil of these "sexual assault" witch hunts, as well as the general idiocy of having females involved in combat roles. But noting those things, don't lose sight of the even more important, though less loudly advertised, fact that in multiple military labs around the country and the world, some very capable dudes are building weapons systems that will support and extend the already overwhelming US military superiority. Even with all the rest of the nonsense, that work goes on -- and can always go into an unthinkably higher gear if and when circumstances so dictate.

I have to disagree. Software engineers taking over the world is a misconception simply because they deeply lack social intelligence, charm, and let's face it: game, in the broader social and interpersonal sense here. I honestly see Indian and Chinese software engineers and entrepreneurs as dweebs, look at Alibaba's Jack Ma. They make great cogs in the wheel and cheap labor, but they make poor leaders and it's no suprise India is on the verge of collapse today. And the fact is, none of these tech start ups are actually working to move the whole species forward, I have been following the tech scene for a while and the only guy doing something worthwhile is Elon Musk. Uber, Tinder and so on are great but they are in no way great technical feats for human advancement.

Lou, I never said they were "taking over the world". Please read carefully. I said they are "finding solutions to technical problems that will move the species forward and result in game-changing advances", and that is precisely what they're doing. And I'm not necessarily talking about software engineers, either.

The 1 and 4 statistic is bullshit and probably just pulled from the college pseudo study. They just use an impressive number to push the ideas across. And all of this shit would naturally not happen if women weren't in combat. I love that idea of an all single male army.

The same military that can't care for the 1 in 4 vets who return home with real PTSD is going to provide for women who got hit on by thirsty recruits?

The Lizard of Oz, I dont know enough to disagree with you completely on this topic so Im just wondering out loud.

With all those Indian, Chinese, hell even white American geeks being incel, why can we be so sure they would keep coming out with military tech innovations for America, or anyone at all?

Those Indian and Chinese geeks would be more likely to head back to their motherlands where they would get laid and treated as heroes not social rejects.

In the very near future, there will be a severe lack of talented computer scientists, programmers and tech innovators in general in the US. The maths and computer science taught at your schools are between non-existent and total crap thanks to helicopter parents suing the schools if they teach stuff that are too hard and make their little angels weep.

Check this out for the future of your non-existent innovators: https://neil.fraser.name/news/2013/03/16/

StrikeBack, I was talking about two separate things in my post. I was making an analogy.

The Indian and other geeks who labor at Harvard and MIT (for example) are making fundamental advances in technologies that will benefit not only the US specifically, but mankind as a whole. The point was that the research they are unobtrusively conducting is the fact that matters more about Cambridge, MA, more so even than such outrages as the college sexual assault witch hunt that is taking place at very close vicinity.

By analogy, the overwhelming superiority of the US military, and the continuing research and development that is done to secure and extend that superiority, is the most salient and basic fact about the US military; whereas the outrages and abuses of the sexual assault witch hunt within the military, and the idiocy of the presence of females in roles to which they are very obviously not suitable, are of comparatively secondary importance (though still important and notable, for sure).

As far as the specific concerns about the future of innovation in the US, I think they are real but also overblown. The US has by far the superior business and academic infrastructure to support innovation and its commercial conversion, and it takes a very long time to build such an infrastructure. There is a reason that other countries have not been able to do so for a long time even though they have poured resources into it. It will take a very long time for others to even begin catching up -- and it's likely that game-changing events will happen sooner than that and will obliterate current trends.

This is an interesting book by a Columbia University economist about how there are many subtle layers of culture and infrastructure that support venture and innovation in the US, and it makes clear how difficult it is for other countries to replicate such a culture:

I think guys stationed in the desert should put in claims for sexual trauma by the fact that they got NO sex.
In the past armies were followed by whores.
In WW1-Vietnam there was R&r where you got laid. Now it is just righty, and sand.

Exactly.

Any other time in the past, the soldiers of the world's most powerful army would be fucking and is some cases raping every female in their way as a matter of course; just part of the deal (there would be no need for rape in most cases; local pussy will usually hungrily fuck and suck occupying forces for favors and kicks and that would be one of the times when the true nature of women would be revealed to the men around them for those with eyes to see -- one of the worst aspects of occupation for most men). But with the US military now if you even had a few whores around it would be considered "trafficking" and heads would roll. Unreal.

Only women could turn a compliment or a joke into a mental health issue. And then they wonder why they're considered "hysterical."

Women serving in the military is common all over the world and we still consider them sexy and feminine.
It's a relatively new occurrence in the US.

I have as much respect for the female killers in martial history as anyone does. Lyudmila Pavlichenko, Mariya Oktyabrskya, and other Russian killers were dangerous women and served the army in remarkable capacity in desperate times.

That being said, the general army at large is no place for them.

I think the bolded bit is the important part. Across history women are not the first port of call when looking for killers, they're the last, akin to putting weapons in the hands of 12 year olds because all of your 18 year olds are worm food in No Man's Land. That certainly holds for the Russian experience - female pilots were only used until there were enough men to fly the planes, at which point the women were rightly sidelined again. There was nothing inherently better about the women, and much more to be said for the men. A nation that starts recruiting women into combat roles is desperate because it can't or won't get enough men to do the job.

I agree with this poster.

If the United States were to go to war with an enemy of comparable ability, such as China or Russia, the US Military would be the most destructive force the world has ever seen.

All these feel-good feminist bullshit would be pushed to the side because even the most die-hard feminist will come to know fear. She will retreat to her home in hiding while the American man goes to war and brings absolute devastation and destruction to the enemy. In survival situations women are not stupid, nor entirely helpless: for everything nature has given men in the way of strength, reason and intellect, she has given women in equal doses perception, cunning, the ability to manipulate, and most importantly, the insatiable desire to propagate her DNA and ensure the safety of her lineage.

Feminism is a scourge born in the sanctuary of safety and invincibility the West has known since World War II. No wars have been fought on US or Western European soil since then, which has allowed our society to become androgynous while selected individuals fight foreign wars. The results of decades of progression toward modern Feminism will disappear in a second when survival is threatened and we will return to the true nature of man and woman.

Push a man, or a nation against the wall in a fight for its survival and all political correctness and it's associated bullshit will disappear. I don't think any nation is careless enough to put the US to that test. As an American I am mostly critical of my country, however one thing I would never question is the the tenacity of which its men would fight a foreign power that brings the fight to their homeland.
