Well to be honest i think CRICKET the entire sport and not just test matches was dying until T20 came in and saved the day. The reason for this is players see this as a profession. If you look at Test matches nowadays you don't see too many people in the stands right? Sure the cricket is better and you actually have to use technique and tactics, but people aren't watching. On top of that is they don't play enough games in the year of test cricket for it to be an economic success.
With T20 Cricket the players can be well paid and the cricket boards can get a few pennies as well from the thousands of fans and this will trickle back to the test match side. Thats my view... I'm happy for T20 because finally there is money in cricket which allows boards to subsidise test matches. Without T20 I think the entire sport would die because players wouldnt go into it knowing that there is such limited opportunity to actually make money.
