Unconventional ways you group others

Everyone has got to have at least a few of these. If you were to come up with your own personality test - specific questions that would seem completely irrelevant to most that you put some stock into. Not the usual ways of grouping people via education, race, socioeconomic status, political affiliation. Social psychologists for example still have this ongoing debate regarding the orientation of a roll of toilet paper and what it says about the likelihood of certain personality traits in an individual.
For me, it's texting vertically vs horizontally on smartphones, with the exception of very short replies like "K", which wouldn't make sense to rotate the phone for.
I've found people who generally text horizontally tend to be a bit more open-minded and less likely to succumb to groupthink of any kind. It's also a minority of people who text this way.
Thought this could provide some interesting feedback.

It's very conceited of me, but I automatically place people into groups based on what they're reading. If it's some popular novel that just became a movie, then I unconsciously see them as plebeians of a sort.
But if they're reading Nietzsche or Dostoevsky, then they're a patrician.
And my mind is very rigid about it.

The way I talk to people is influenced heavily by a dichotomy that I categorize people on, loosely based on what I know about them. It keeps me from becoming enraged:
The accidentally ignorant.
The willfully ignorant.
I will not even bother trying to change the opinion of the willfully ignorant. I will attempt to play with them, subtly make fun of them, and do it in public so that I can influence the accidentally ignorant. I cannot stand to engage the willfully ignorant as an equal, as they are beneath me. When they attempt to identify with me or put me in a category, I have to check myself to keep from being enraged.
Recently, it's been the SJW/feminist mindset that falls into this category. In the past, socialists or communists or what have you fell into this category. I try to have sympathy with their mindset, as I realize that you can step from accidentally ignorant to willfully ignorant if you have enough brainwashing beyond your control, but it's a waste of my time to engage them, still. They have to confront reality hard enough to shake them, and that is usually extremely unlikely.
I hate groupthink. Sometimes I slip into the habit myself. The willfully ignorant immerse themselves in only like-minded opinions. Having been atheist before it was "normal" and now anarchist (not that kind of anarchist) for so long, I'm always surrounded by people I disagree with strongly, and I get a tingly feeling on the back of my neck when I find too many people agreeing with me, because it means something is totally wrong.
So that's it, the reason for peoples' ignorance. Accidental or willful. I absolutely cannot stand the latter. I always try to remedy the former in myself.

I like your accidentally vs willfully ignorant dichotomy.
One of my favorites is people who do things vs people who have things done to them. It's a gradient rather than black or white as no individual is solely one or the other (especially given different domains), but people are generally one or the other.
I strive to spend more time with the former and less time with the latter. Get busy living or get busy dying.

I tend to group people into:
Those would have to believe and those who have to question. (ala Agora)
The intellectually curious and the bovine (independent from their raw IQ)

I'd say another big one regarding parents that I realize, strict disciplinarian vs non disciplinarian.
Of course, all kids needs discipline, but it seems like a large percent of parents regardless of whether still married or socioeconomic status over-discipline their kids (especially boys) for the most minor reasons.
Example: Kid doesn't like asparagus
Parent A: You better eat that, there's poor people starving in Africa! Hurry up and eat it now (kid refuses to eat it, parent just gets more & more upset)
Parent B: No problem, but you do gotta eat some vegetables from time to time (and there is no further argument)
I remember being young and other kids just had it so much more laid-back at home than I did, so it's fair to say I noticed this very young.

I can't stand defeatism.
Anyone who uses phrases like "she's out of our league" or tells me something that I've done, or seen done first hand is "impossible" immediately gets mentally tagged as a dumbfuck that I try to avoid as much as possible.
I even see this on RVF occasionally, usually in the travel section.
Edit: 600th post, I'm not a chubby chaser anymore.

People who have implemented major change in their lives as an adult, and those who have not.
And similarly, those who have gone against mainstream wisdom in one or more areas (diet/health, making money, beliefs), and those who have not.
Also, those with whom you can make any argument, even just playing devil's advocate or as an intellectual exercise, and those who will become angry or defensive.
These are all litmus tests that I use for the same quality. What is that quality of ability to entertain new or forbidden ideas, experiment, and find out what works best? IQ is a major part of it, but not all of it. It's the willingness to see the world raw rather than through purely through a social filter.
Also, I filter out those who jump on to new fashions or overt status symbols, except when I see that they are self-aware. In other words, I respect those who use cars, or clothes or muscles to get what they want or because they enjoy them for their own sake, but I hold in contempt those who think that their expensive watch or corporate job makes them the shit.

Those who do what everyone else does, especially the ones who are major babblers or very quiet.. (leaders and followers of the established social chains), and those who quietly go about their business.
which also leads to:
Those who make themselves consistently as unapproachable as possible by anyone, and those who are light hearted and welcome at least a minimal level of approach. Not just talkin girls here, either gender.
-- People may say that oh they're just busy and don't want to be bothered, but the fact usually is they're boring people when you meet them, leading boring lives, projecting some shit they aren't and never will be, instead of taking off the ear buds, pulling their face away from their phones, and acknowledging people around them that could benefit their lives.

The way they carry themselves, their physiogomy, body language, the way they speak, the words they use, the way they phrase their sentences.
More importantly, their likeness to myself, the people they associate themselves with, the characteristic traits they exhibit.

If you tell someone "I just booked a trip to Antarctica", you can divide the world by their response:
"wow that's amazing!" or "why the hell are you going there??
I also group people by their music taste and can tell a lot about people just by browsing their collection.

A guy I know asks candidates these 2 questions back-to-back during an interview:
1. What's the most interesting thing you've ever done?
2. What's the most interesting thing you've done in the last 30 days?
Their answers help him categorize people into two categories: those that talk the talk, and those that walk the walk.
It's not perfect but it offers good insight.
