The anti-Uber press is simply a manifestation of an anti-men, anti-business mindset.

For decades, taxi's and busses have been unreliable, unsophisticated, and in some parts of some cities, probably unsafe for young female passengers. And yet there was no massive public outcry like there is now against Uber, a company that is trying to solve those problems as well as many others.

So why the sudden uproar? Because Uber is an expression of capitalism, and it's run by a white guy, and many people (the "second handers" as Ayn Rand called them) don't like to see others achieve success.

The hypocrisy is cringeworthy, but luckily Uber provides a fantastic service and the market will dictate their future, not the press.

Sorry, but I can't get on board with this one. The guy is a fool, and has cost himself and his partners a great deal of money. I can understand the need for creative tactics to respond to slanderous propaganda. But on what planet does it make sense to vocalize those plans/ideas, especially when they can be overheard?
I would never want someone like that working for me, or with me.
When a situation calls for this kind of work, you never explicitly say out loud what needs to be done. Also, if you aren't doing the dirty work personally, you insulate yourself from those who do, and compensate them in cash, indirectly via a third party. Plausible deniability. Plus the fear of not knowing where or when the blow is coming from keeps your enemies on their toes.
Lastly, never hate your enemies, it affects your judgement.

I agree that Uber's Emil Michael's saying such a thing in public was a terrible and damaging business move. But I think he's right. Here is why.

Back before the Internet, if you went to press with an article, editors would make damn sure that article was accurate and factual. But with the Web came the quest for cranking out things quicker and making article inflammatory just for the sake of getting Web hits. So a lot of what's written now is poorly-researched garbage designed to get reactions.

Sarah Lacy didn't have to answer to any editor. She is editor and founder of PandoDaily -- the type of publication that would never have existed before the Web.

Her article calling Uber "sexist" and "anti-female culture" in PandoDaily is the kind of article that would have never made it into print. And it's one of dozens where she sees "sexism" somewhere.

If journalists and going to stir things up with opinion pieces that lack facts, then their lives should be fair game to have opinions on as well. I don't particularly like Ashton Kutcher, but I agree with his recent Tweets about this.

If journalists are going to hold people to standards, lets hold them to some. This isn't Watergate, where Woodward and Bernstein had evidence. This is the SJW mob, that levels accusations based on their own ideas of "morality." If they want to dish it out, they should be able to take it.

And keep in mind all of the above statements are coming from someone who is a former journalist. But I was a writer when they had fact-checkers, not when you could just throw out opinions willy-nilly and have people and companies ruined on questionable accusations.

Adddendum: The Sarah Lacy that Uber wants to go after is the same Sarah Lacy who attention-whored her way to fame in 2008 with a horrifically unprofessional interview with Mark Zuckerberg. Story about that here. This isn't the first time her journalistic methods have bothered people.

Addendum #2: After re-watching the video of her and Zuckerberg, I can't believe the way she's porked out. Anyone who wants to see an example of The Wall should watch that interview, then see the pics now on her site. What a difference six years makes.

Who are the investors in Lyft (Uber competitor)? Andreessen Horowitz, Founders Fund (http://techcrunch.com/topic/company/lyft/ )

There is some overlap in investors (e.g. Menlo Ventures), but don't for a second think that this is purely SJW-bs. This is economic war wrapped in a PC SJW cloak. I suspect a lot of SJW stuff is just like this.

There's been speculation and talk in the Tech Crunch world for years that Google will buy it. The reason being the service would be a seamless fit with Maps. There's also talk of a public offering.

Uber is currently the most valuable startup out there with 18 Billion plus valuation. I don't see how this stir makes a dent in that. If it does, then these SJWs are far more powerful than I thought.
