American rejected for job in Korea because of being black

American rejected for job in Korea because of being black

Now Sean Jones knows how white Americans feel when they are told that only non-white candidates are being considered for a hire or promotion.

And since I'm sure he's a supporter of this institutionalized racial discrimination against white people, fuck him very much- he had it coming.

Korean American's get shafted as well in the ESL job market, you don't ever hear about them running to the media and having a cry about it, they just fucking move on and get another job.

Either this Sean Jones is extremely naive or just another insecure attention seeker.

I think employers have every right to discriminate on the basis of race, gender, age and whatsoever else they want.
I’m going to go with a yes and a no on this. As a business owner you do have the right to discriminate, but be prepared for the consequences. There are few communities where a business that puts up a sign saying whites only can survive in the US.
With the above said any business that does direct business with the US government should not be able to discriminate when hiring based on anything but ability and background. Further countries that owe their existence and continued freedom to the US military should adopt anti-discrimination laws similar to those in the US. The only reason people in South Korea aren’t singing oh great leader every morning is because a lot black solider took up arms to defend them. We still have an existing military presence there as well as the agreement that if they go to war with the north again, we’ll jump in the fray. It’s pretty messed up that someone can be forced to fight and die for some foreign country or be stationed their entire career in a country and eventually see their kids turned down for a job because of skin color.

As an Asian living in the US, some of the most racist people I've met are black people. Black people have done more harms (hate-crime wise) to asians than vice versa in America and I am pretty sure most asians are getting tired of this bullshit. I am pretty sure most Asians people will vouch for that. Asians are generally peaceful people that mind their own business and are most likely productive members of society. It is true, asian people's obsession over white image are rather sickening and disgusting but this is rapidly changing as asian communities grow stronger. More and more asian women are marrying asian men nowadays in America. If you want one of those poor low class asian women that want to move up the social ladder, by all mean, they are all yours. I am sorry but black people robbing and looting all the Korean owned convenient stores back in the Rodney King days didn't help out their image in Korea. Koreans hold a grudge for a long time just as they will never forgive the Japanese.
A little food for thought, many Asians who immigrated to the US after wars were generally placed into what had been predominantly black neighborhoods. This was often done after telling those same black families to send their sons off to die killing Asians. Take a situation where you are now being economically displaced by someone who you were told shortly before was the enemy and ask yourself how you would feel. Two more sources of animosity are the positive stereotyping Asians benefitted from and the predatory practices that many brought to poor black neighborhoods. The reason a lot of stores in the hood were once owned by Asian immigrants is because regardless of financial means or business acumen, blacks were usually unable to secure a loan. In the 60s and 70s an Asian immigrant with limited English skills was far more likely to get a loan than a black person with a degree in business and verifiable experience. Asian grocery stores in the hood were also notorious for charging high prices and often having crappy products. In some neighborhoods the store owners also forbid their kids from associating with people in the neighborhood which caused more animosity.

When I read threads like this, I see a lot of back-and-forth from guys. I see a lot of hand-wringing over the evils and injustices of the world, over the foibles, follies, and stupidities of human nature.

This group of people is bad, that group of people is bad, this group is a bunch of fucking assholes, that group is a bunch of fucking assholes.

"I'm mad at Group Y or Group Z because of this or that."

And at the end of the day, when all is said and done, it doesn't amount to dry shit. Trust me on that. Nobody cares. This is something I've learned from hard experience. I wasted a lot of time in my 20s and 30s trying to understand why people think this way or that way.

It was so much wasted effort. Instead of improving myself and finding joy for myself, I allowed myself to be consumed by anger.

No matter what you do, or who you are, some groups (ethnic, religious, etc) are always going to love you or hate you for no reason. You're never going to change it. You're never going to understand it.

And you know what? Fuck 'em. Right up the irons, as Iron Maiden used to say.

Your mission should be focusing on trying to find that country, that culture, that part of the world that SUITS YOU. You need to be looking for your own Poosy Paradise.

Everything else is just wasted effort. One of the hard truths about the world is that it is mostly irrational. Some people just love you or dislike you for those intangible factors. Get over it.

You're never going to change them. Do your own thing and tune out the noise. I wasted a lot of time and effort fighting with the world, but all to no avail.

I left Korea bitter and angry at how the people acted. But you know what? It was my problem. Mine. It was I who set myself up for the disappointment. My immaturity blinded me from taking the right attitude.

Because I wanted them to be like the Japanese. And they are not. Are not.

OK, so what...suck it up. I'll never set foot in the country again if I can avoid it. That much I can say. Someone would have to pay me well to be there.

But I re-directed my energies to finding those countries, those cultures, and those parts of the world that did mesh with my personality and desires.

And so there you have it. There is a limit to what we can control, brothers. There is a limit to everything.

Don't rage against people. Move on. Improve yourself, focus on yourself. Because your time is limited.

A character in Petronius's "Satyricon" speaks this little gem of wisdom, which applies here:

"A bit of sound sense is what makes a man; all the rest is bullshit." [Corcillum est quod homines facit, cetera quisquilia omnia].

i say this as a British Black...maybe my view of the world different, but why the hell would an African American man...go all the way to Korea to teach English?.[Image: huh.gif]..did he do any research on how xenophobic the country is?

Whats wrong with him? yes racism exists everywhere, hell even in the USA(despite having a "black" president).

But Korea isn't going to change because a black man got rejected, and quite frankly...parts of that world should be avoided.....move on

With all the recent rape hoaxes, hopefully people will file articles like this in the "manufactured victimhood for attention and profit" category and dismiss them.
