Yo, check your window. Did my carrier pigeon arrive yet?
I will be checking my PMs weekly, so you can catch me there. I will not be posting.

No. I can't say I ever got addicted to my smart/cell phone when I had one.

For a business owner the benefits of having a smart phone in your pocket outweighs the negatives.
It’s a shame because I’d love to go back to an old flip phone but I need the productivity right now. When I don’t smartphone will go.

I've tried a couple of times going off the smartphone but always ended up going back to it.
It's too strong of an addiction to go off and just because something is addictive doesn't mean it's bad.
What really helped was getting two phones, one that is used to contact people and for people to contact you, and the other one to use as the wonderful tool it can be. That way I can relax knowing I won't be interrupted and sucked into it. I keep the other phone on silent and only check it when I get like it.

I managed to go off for a few days but it seems to hard to do it. Work in the many cases is making me get the phone and check the email, always! I'm too hooked.

Smartphones are way too utilitarian but you can easily quit social media and bullshit apps. Facebook on your phone? Get it the fuck off ASAP.

Ask yourself this question: Is your smartphone (or other tech) a tool or a crutch?

Set the display to black and white and it drastically reduced my screen time. Try the invert mode on iOS and you'll basically not ever want to look at the phone. The bottom line is that a smartphone is a massively useful tool and I've run my business from it when my laptop died. There are a few key posts out there on tweaking it so you have zero notifications, etc. Just turn it off at night

I've always had a cheap prepaid call + text phone.
At one point, I thought not having a smartphone made me a bit non-conformist, but it turns out it's a status item for many people (including some women) who view you as cheap/poor/strange without one, so I keep it to myself now. Had an iPhone through work for a while, but was never tempted to use it outside of work.
I also have problems with commitment so don't like to sign contracts and get data plans etc. You can probably learn a lot about someone through their phone and apps...

Yes I quit. They're a complete waste of time. I don't know how anyone can spend so much time messing around on some silly gadget all day. It's like they've got nothing better to do. Losers.
Sent from my iPhone.
That's not how we do things in Russia, comrade.

Quit for about a year and just recently got a new one just for access to WhatsApp and IG for business related stuff. I'm not addicted and much prefer to use the computer to type, anyway, so it wasn't especially tough. It's funny to read (not on here) grown men in their 40s talk about how they get anxious if they don't check it every 10 minutes or go for a walk without it.
