Glad I'm not the only one to catch that. Almost every preacher I've meet has either married a "reformed" hooker, or a "reformed" party girl.

It's a spiritual rebirth. It's vaguely similar to the secular concept of 'turning over a new leaf', but that is only a mental behavioral change. Becoming a good boy and doing good works doesn't get anyone to heaven.

In order to be "born again" you have to be saved. It is the same thing.

To be saved you have to acknowledge you're a sinner like everyone else, realize the penalty for sin is spiritual death and hell, and believe that Christ is the son of God who sacrificed himself to absolve us of our sins and save us from hell, was buried, and rose again.
