It's not that bad. Picking the right crew makes a whole lot of difference. When I went there was a good mix of germans, brasilians and spaniards to separate the hordes of aussies and americans.
A good opportunity for those connoisseurs who enjoy capturing flags
In terms of bang for buck value... what you will get out of the trip is a regurgitated cushioned version of your life in Australia with a few insertions of yoloism.
I have no doubt you had fun, compared to most Australian travel destinations, it probably is fun. But that's like saying contiki is fun.
My main point is, you'll be in Croatia without
ever being in Croatia. Your perceptions of Croatian culture/women will be next to nil.
You will be surrounded in your little comfort zone of other yolo-travellers while being completely indifferent to local Croatian talent in Dubrovnik.
At the end of the day such a trip is only self-affirming, it is never an exposure to another world.
Would an Aussie guy who's barely been in Europe (4 weeks of travel to Budapest, Prague, Ibiza, Berlin doesn't count) ... done a minor stint in S.E.Asia have fun on such a trip? Yes, sure.
Would an Aussie guy who lived in a FSU country for 2 years be a fan of such a trip? No, he'd fucking hate himself.
You're better off spending your money on something else.
