Typhus fever occurs in conditions of overcrowding and poor hygiene, such as in prisons and refugee camps.

Yep. Time to get out the Zyklon B.

Apparently it has also spread to Long Beach and Pasadena:

And, the street-shitting continues in SF:
Quote:Daily Mail Wrote:

A new study by the real estate listing website RealtyHop declares the California tech-hub to be the worst place in the US for 'poop sightings', with ten times as many as New York and 20 times more than Chicago in 2017.

According to the study compiled from publicly available 311 data, there were 21,000 incidents of feces complaints last year, which is an average of 456 per each of San Francisco's 47 square miles.

2017 was San Francisco's worst year so far for feces complaints, but it looks as though 2018 will be muckier still, with more than 16,000 calls so far.

In fact, the number of complaints received by the city has risen every year since 2011 - and has almost tripled annually since then - so the problem has been getting worse for some time.

There was also no correlation between median home value and feces, nor when comparing homeownership with complaints by neighborhood.

Like the others cities howeer, San Francisco residents mostly pick up the phone to complain on Mondays, closely followed by Tuesdays, and seem far more relaxed about it on the weekends.

Clearly feeling that the story lacked a visual element, they also created an interactive brown and yellow map to show the neighborhoods of San Francisco with the highest concentration of reported feces.

The map shows that the city center was the dirtiest - with the SoMa area being the most complained about overall, and The Mission, Tenderloin, Portrero Hill and Hayes Valley following closely behind.

The cleanest neighborhoods were Presidio Heights, Twin Peaks and Lakeshore.

Data from 311 shows that there were 4,436 feces complaints about SoMa in 2017 - around 2,493 for every 10,000 households; a quarter of households have complained on average.

As the report was compiled using only 311 complaint statistics, the real amount of feces on San Francisco's streets is likely to be much higher.

Least-Educated State: California No. 1 in Percentage of Residents 25 and Older Who Never Finished 9th Grade; No. 50 in High School Graduates
By Terence P. Jeffrey | December 19, 2018 | 12:49 PM EST

(CNSNews.com) - California ranks No. 1 among the 50 states for the percentage of its residents 25 and older who have never completed ninth grade and 50th for the percentage who have graduated from high school, according to new data from the Census Bureau.

Texas ranks No. 2 for the percentage of its residents 25 and older who have never completed ninth grade and 49th for the percentage who have graduated from high school.

9.7 percent of California residents 25 and older, the Census Bureau says, never completed ninth grade. Only 82.5 percent graduated from high school.

8.7 percent of Texas residents 25 and older never completed ninth grade, and only 82.8 percent graduated from high school.

California and Texas—while having the highest percentages of residents 25 and older who never finished ninth grade and the lowest percentages who graduated from high school—are the nation’s two most populous states.

In fact, the 2,510,370 California residents 25 and older who, according to the Census Bureau, never finished ninth grade outnumber the entire populations of 15 other states.

In California, children are required to attend school from six years of age until they are 18. “California’s compulsory education laws require children between six and eighteen years of age to attend school, with a limited number of exceptions,” says the California Legislative Analyst’s Office, an agency of the California state government. (The National Center for Education Statistics also indicates that children in California are compelled by law to attend school from 6 to 18 years of age.)

Ironically enough LA Unified School District is going on stroke - they're demanding more classrooms, small classes, more educational material etc.

Because that's worked before....

It really is sad to see the decline. Half a century ago it was the land of opportunity. Now it's basically Greece on the Pacific. Just goes to show, whenever something is good, enjoy it to the max, because it won't be that way forever. Wherever your paradise is right now, it probably won't be in 25 years.

Yeah I recently visited California. It is a lot more run down than the movies and tv series portray it.

Look, I'm a lover of California. Where else can you be in the mohave desert in the morning and the highest mountain in the continental US for lunch. It's an extraordinary, amazing place. I wanted to live my life here.

But it has been conquered by moronic Mexican illegals. They have wiped out the Republican party utterly. The vast majority of the state is quite conservative but overruled by LA and SF bay which have 25 million people between them; as much all of texas. Jerry Brown was actually *not* that liberal by Calif standards, he was fiscally conservative. Now that he's gone, the Calif. legislature, which is populated by women and minorities, is going to go on a leftist spree that will perfectly follow Venezuela down into the shithole. These leftists are 100% full of hate and envy of the rich people in the state and they are ready to plunder and spend, without the slightest qualm or pretense.

They *want* to bankrupt the state. Are you kidding? Calif is the 5th largest economy in the world, bigger than all of the UK. The leftists have been waiting for this chance for decades. The chance to make their mark in the universe by destroying the largest economy ever destroyed by Communism. The USSR and China were puny when the commies took over. California in many ways rules the world, from it't technology base and hollywood. California is the fattest target ever.

So yeah. I probably hafta move away. Las Vegas maybe, though I hate it.

Governor Brown signed off yesterday on the bill requiring companies headquartered in California to have a woman on their BODs:

Quote:Quote:

Companies headquartered in California can no longer have all-male boards.

That's according to a new law, enacted Sunday, which requires publicly traded firms in the state to place at least one woman on their board of directors by the end of 2019 — or face a penalty.

It also requires companies with five directors to add two women by the end of 2021, and companies with six or more directors to add at least three more women by the end of the same year.

It's the first such law on the books in the United States, though similar measures are common in European countries.

The measure was passed by California's state legislature last month. And it was signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown on Sunday, along with a trove of other bills that look to "protect and support women, children and working families," the governor's office said in a release.

A majority of companies in the S&P 500 have at least one woman on their boards, but only about a quarter have more than two, according to a study from PwC.

California state Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson told The Wall Street Journal last month when the legislation passed that "one-fourth of California's publicly traded companies still do not have a single woman on their board, despite numerous independent studies that show companies with women on their board are more profitable and productive."

"With women comprising over half the population and making over 70% of purchasing decisions, their insight is critical to discussions and decisions that affect corporate culture, actions and profitability," she told the outlet.

Some see California's law as a crucial step toward establishing better parity in corporate leadership.

But setting quotas can be controversial, Vicki W. Kramer, lead author of the landmark 2006 study, "Critical Mass on Corporate Boards," told CNN last month. Opponents argue that pressure from quotas will lead to unqualified female members and potential discrimination against male candidates.

When quotas are not set, however, companies may fail to diversify their ranks. She points to more "aspirational" legislation in other states, like in Pennsylvania, where a 2017 resolution urged both public and private companies to have a minimum of 30% women on their boards by 2020. But without teeth in the law, Kramer said, better numbers won't follow.

Kramer said California's legislation is weak compared to the laws in Norway and other European countries, which require a certain percentage of women on boards. For larger Norwegian companies, the legislation requires that women make up as much as 40% of the board.

This is totally not a retarded social engineering experiment that absolutely won't blow up in anybody's face.

It is impossible for me to convey to you just how fucking ignorant these state legislators are. They are some of the stupidest people on the entire fucking planet. They never started a business of their own, never managed a team, never built so much as a shed in their backyard, never fixed a car, never even a lemonade stand when they were a kid. California legislators are the people who got a degree in politics and jumped straight into activism without having a real job of any kind, except maybe being a lawyer for some politician.

Directors for companies are the hardest job to fill on the planet. In many cased companies die, because they can't find the right board directors and CEOS. This bill will simply kill off even more and the economy will tank, or people like me will finally give in and move to another state even though we don't want to.

Stupid or evil? Maybe the "stupidity'' is actually deliberate. Easier to attribute malice to outgroups. Yet liberal(in reality leftists) Senators are only stupid. I don't believe California Legislators are stupid they know what they are doing.

As a matter of fact for an example. Hollywood was always Red:

California also has a law on the books saying that the state’s offificial language is English.

I sense some form of latent glee in these threads but this thread should in reality be full of angry Americans with pitchforks in hand.

Being in some red state is not going to save you when California, New York and Chicago collapse (which they all must at some point). I doubt many will be in a position to be quietly smug when 'leftist' policies fail. Further, on a federal level the nation has been failed by both red and blue (given that crony capitalism is the only real existing system). For the many erudite Americans here, please rush to these urban centers and attempt to motivate some change if you faith that the ship can be steadied

And obviously having someone nudge your kid up on stage to use as a prop to get oohs and awws from the women... the fuck outa here.

Very interesting report on homelessness in SF being yet another special interest racket. I gotta say, in defense of the military-industrial complex, they don't leave trash, feces, and third world diseases in my neighborhood.

I never realized before that you might be able to spot accents under voice distortions. At least to my ears, it sounds like the Indian H1-Bs are fed up with the SF homeless, too.
