It's good of you to start coming up with a contingency plan in case it happens. But don't let it get to you too much, your sex might even become less pleasurable, or your performance might suffer, hell sometimes you might not even be able to perform because you have all that anxiety and worrying, this shit really does a lot of damage subconsciously.

The problem with skipping the USA is that you will be deemed a criminal and that will cause most countries to send you back if your found.

The real question of interest, for me, is if you get a girl pregnant in the Philippines would she be able to:

1) Get a child support order from the Philippines enforced in an American court.
or
2) Get a child support order directly from an American court.

As some might know, I was in the NY Family Court system fighting hard for the first 8 years of my kids life. After that I lost all taste for battle.

My suggestion if you found out would be:

1) Never ask her to have an abortion. Instead ask her what she would like to see you do. Then wait, and wait, and wait for a response. Then whatever she says you reply, "Ok, then that's what I'll do".

This "potentially" removes some possibility of her having the child to get at you for whatever reason. You can always decide your involvement later on.

2) If she decides to have the kid, be supportive emotionally and financially until you can get a secret paternity test done. If she asks you to sign the birth certificate and claim Fatherhood then I may ask to get a test done first. Once you sign, you will be on the hook even if it's proved later that you aren't the Father. Sounds crazy doesn't it? America is crazy.

3) Always try your best to stay out of court. Even if it means paying a little more than the 17%+ daycare, healthcare, etc. Father's very rarely win and you'll end up paying more in lawyers fee's (her's and yours). Let go of your demand that there should be justice and instead look at court from a cost/benefit approach. Also there's value in having peace in your life and believe me, waging war in court for years on end will reek havoc on your emotional well being.

There's other advice I can give on visitation / and child rearing in this kind of dysfunctional setting but that's kind of specific to each situation.

One things is for sure. If you want to know what her agenda is with you in regards to having a child. Look at her family history and her relation to her Mother/Father. That will give you clues to what she has in store for you.

He had kids in the USA, I think having a kid in USA makes you more vulnerable than anything, everyone kisses the USA's ass for the most part, they're scared of the power.

As far as your question about a Filipina getting a child support order in the USA, most of them have trouble getting load on their phones let alone launching an international lawsuit.

It's POSSIBLE, but far less likely than a USA woman nailing you somewhere or ruining your rep in the USA.

Besides, you can support a child fairly well in the Philippines for FAR FAR less than in the United States, it's really not asking that much.

I know a Filipino girl who took an American living in the Philippines to court for child support, they awarded her $200 per month.

That's a reasonable amount, just enough for food if she lives with her parents.

Leaving someone stuck with a kid in the third world without giving her ANY money seems pretty cold to me...

If she can't serve you with the order, can she force you to pay anything?

I assume that once paternity is established, failing to show up won't help your case much, provided that they are in a position to serve you with court dates.

But seriously. What if you disappeared off the face of the earth for ten years and only came back after ten for a new passport. Without being in a position to establish paternity, would they be able to do anything to you in the meantime that would cause to suffering for you when you did have to get that next passport?

I guess this hypothetical case sound possible, but it goes with a lot of unpleasant lifestyle choices. You'd have to live always ready to flee the USA before she gets a paternity test ordered.

If you abandoned your kid in the USA for ten years, then came back and they nailed you, you'd owe back child support for those ten years with penalties.

This happened to a friend of mine. He had a kid, signed birth cert I guess (you are on the hook forever then), then she realized he was not a reliable provider (he is VERY eccentric, seriously cannot hold a job for longer than a few months) and she literally disappeared with the kid when kid was three.

She changed the kid's name so he couldn't find them, married someone else, and he didn't see his child or hear from them for ten+ years, then when the kid was a teen she filed for child support. He then couldn't get a passport because he owed tens of thousands of dollars of back child support.

Eventually a relative bailed him out and made a settlement with the mother. Othewise he might still be laboring in the USA paying the endless child support with interest when his kid is now 30 years old.

He did manage to get out, is in Asia now with a new kid. Bt his relationship with the first kid is perma-fucked.

Who wants to live under threat of THAT kind of shit?

I know another guy who's divorced who NEGOTIATED with the kids mother, kept the courts out of it for the time being and got a better deal I believe (and so does he.) He's pretty high paid ( barely six figures) and pays her $2500 a month.

It seems so much better if the courts are kept out of if if that's possible.

It may look bleak now, but I can tell you the other side of not having kids, there's bleakness there too.

I'm in my 50s and may never have kids, when you're in your 50's they'll probably be mature and you'll be proud of them.

@Suits, it's my understanding that in the US she can. Serving to the last known address or public statement can be good enough. A warrant would be issued and the guy will be grabbed and deported back to the US to face the court.
