After travelling to Europe several times, I learned the best way to overcome jetlag from an ex-Gf's dad. It's solid truth. Take any OTC sleeping pill like Tylenol PM so that you wake up in the new country at a time that you would normally want to wake up, say 8-9AM. No matter how painful or shitty you feel, force yourself up, and go for a run, preferably in the full sun. Get a full blast of sunshine. Do not take an afternoon nap, do not sleep at any point until that night, and most importantly, NO ALCOHOL. I know when you first land in a city you get that adrenaline kick and you think it's party time, especially after a grueling flight. All I know is that alcohol vastly extends the jetlag period.
If you do the Tylenol PM/morning run/no alcohol, it gives you a huge head start in overcoming jetlag.
As far as having the shits, I'll pack some Immodium. Strangely, I've travelled more in Mexico than anywhere else, some real shitholes sometimes too, and I've never ever had a problem, but in my two visits to Paris I got horribly sick both times, one of which I thought would land in me in the hospital. Fucking frogs.
"...so I gave her an STD, and she STILL wanted to bang me."

Thedude,
If you're not on a tight budget, I'd highly highly recommend Japan. I've travelled a lot but no place blew my mind like Tokyo. I had my tongue on the floor constantly walking around, not just for the girls who are the most beautiful I've seen anywhere, but also the city, the food, the people, how incredibly helpful and polite beyond words that would embarrass you.
Regarding costs, as a rule of thumb, 1 week of what you'd spend in Tokyo would make you a balla for a month in all the other places mentioned here before. But what a massively brilliant time it would be!

Yes Japan is awesome and imo has the most beautiful girls in Asia, face wise unmatched. Classy and with individual style too. But for me they don't have the same innate sexyness that the SEA girls do.
Girls aside, Japan is amazing and has enough culture and adventure for a lifetime.

VP your post on all the places is amazing thanks for that. Im going to SEA soon for a few weeks and I wasnt sure about Vietnam. Now reconsidering it but feels like there are way too many places to visit for just a few weeks and I probably should choose just one place like most of you are recommending

The guys on here suggesting you spend longer in less different places are right on.
However, if you are intent on an intense flying recon of the region to decide where you would like to spend more leisurely time in future, then consider Saigon, Phnom Pen, Bangkok, Manila AND Jakarta.
There are lots of smaller towns in each country with specific appeal, but for an initial overview of a country its hard to beat looking at the main city.
Gaming opportunities are usually greater too, because of sheer numbers.
As you will be tight for time, research on here the best place to stay in each city.
When your time is at a premium, optimal location makes a big difference.
