Great thread. I've gone through dozens of pairs of jeans trying to find a perfect fit.
Perfect fitting pants is one of the main things that bothers me when it comes to my personal style. For the first time, I went and had 5 pairs of non-denim pants altered to the specs of a tailored pair I had made in Asia.
Jeans are next for me to tackle. My perfect pair would be quite snug around my thigh, waist and ass and barely taper from the knee to the ankle.
But every pair I get eventually becomes loose and baggy, especially around the ass which I hate. Wish I would have known how Shrink to Fits worked years ago...

I buy original Wranglers in rigid denim. Then I take them to a tailor have them un-bootcut-ified. From the mid-thigh down taper them in to make them more slim-straight.
Best jeans Ive found for me and my legs.
Also, I'm into high waisted trousers/jeans right now. Im thin and proud. Low-rise is popular because everyone is a fatass these days and when 75% of the market cant get pants past their hips things must be low-rise.

If I had to pick one pair of jeans to recommend, it would be Unbranded's UB201.
They're not too pricey at $80 at full price, while still being quality raw denim. You can squeeze into it even with a muscular ass and thighs. Below the calf they are tapered, for a nice svelte look, giving you the best of straight and slim fits - a seat that fits and slim around the calves. The rise is moderate. That said, they are new, and I have only worn them once. They are sanforized. If I could change one thing about them, I'd make the rise higher, but I'm on the tall side and this is partly a matter of personal taste. You can find them at Urban Outfitters with free shipping and returns. Try out odd as well as even sizes to get the fit just right. I may have to cold soak them as it was bleeding indigo on my hands.
I previously bought the Uniqlo slim raws. They are nice, but the rise is a bit low and it is really tight in the hips and thigh - which led me to wearing a pair that was too big in the waist. Now they're comfortable, but too big still in the waist.
I also tried the Levi 508s (waists were too big, couldn't find any 30x34s) and the new Gap tapered (ugly looking wash).
In general, I recommend looking out for tapered fits if you have big thighs.

Fisto, if you're ever in miami hit me up. We can trade denim knowledge for fitness knowledge. How do you like your purchases so far?
Basil, unbrandeds are a great deal and made by the same guy who owns naked and famous but in different factories. Sometimes they show up really cheap at TJ Maxx but it is rare for any decent sizes.
Basketbounce, I really dont mind indigo stains on my shoes. I feel it gives them character. If you look at pictures of James Deen or any guy from that era you'll notice most have indigo stains on their shoes.

Sand, are you aware of anything tapered and cheap like the unbranded 201s with a higher rise? I'm keeping mine, but for the next denim purchase, i'd like something higher, 11-12" in a 33" true waist. The UB201s have a weirdly short fly, to the point where you have to grab and lift your junk out of your denim when you take a piss.
I found Bravestar denim, but they're hard to get a hold of, and aren't as established. Their return policy is non-existent also.
I cold soaked my pair though they're still bleeding indigo.

During my recent swing through LA, I went to Self Edge on LaBrea and bought a couple pairs of 3Sixteen jeans, one in dark blue and one in dark grey. This thread really helped me know what to ask for when I walked in there. I expect those two pairs (about $450 total price for both) to last me decades. That store was great. They offered to hem the jeans then mail them to me here in Japan for a nominal price.

I use to wear Levis but not anymore. In Australia they don't cater for all lengths so you have to take them to a tailor to get sized up...rip off.
I stick with G Star or Diesel .There is something about G Star clothing that reminds me of Rock'n Roll.....like Levis use to.
Superdry and Guess shirts are also a favourite
Some of the Aussie surf brands like Quicksilver,Billabong and Rip Curl do all right on jeans as well.
Just remember your belt MUST match your footwear FFS.

I really like RRL raw denim. They repair blowouts for free and do a good job. I have three pair that have lasted a long time. They went to american cone mill now, and I only like the japanese denim so I will probably shop somewhere else like Railcar, but these will probably last for 10 years.

I tried Levi's 501 STF recently since I was able to get them on sale for $40. The closest I was able to find to my size was 32/32, which should have been much too small given how much Levi's says the pants will shrink. I tried them on and they seemed much larger than 32/32. I soaked them in cold water, hung them to dry until they were damp and then wore them until they were dry. They shrank to the perfect fit although they were initially very tight while still damp. Either I got lucky or wearing them while damp isn't just hype and really does give a tailored fit.

Bought bootleg jeans and looked like an idiot for about six months before one of my homeboys pointed it out to me. So I went and got myself a couple of slim fits. But I am regretting not getting straight leg. Couldnt afford levis so I had to settle for JX.
Don't debate me.
