My son was placed in a class full of girls [re-titled]

This may be due to women having kid at an older age.

I read something , can't remember source, that younger women have more sons relative to older women.

It looked like a strong effect, I think older women ( can't remember how old) have as many as 2/3 girls.

The hypothesized cause was that with an olderparent more likely to die, a daughter had more chance of survival; since it is easier for a girl to get a provider.

It sounds like he is in the gifted track. Tends to have more girls.

Of course, that feminizes the environment. I remember my AP English class having only two guys in it. When everyone said their favorite novel at the start of the class, my suggestion of Fight Club did not go over well. I ended dropping out because I had zero interest in spending that much time reading Jane Austen novels.

It's totally possible it's some sort of more advanced class, and while that's good, the element of feminization is what's troubling because it has the potential to be disruptive.

Of course every study I've come across thus far seems to reach the conclusion that more girls in the class nets better performance from the boys over the long term, but I have yet to find anything covering the impacts on socialization or other aspects of development. And in those instances with better performance, I'd be interested to know what kinds of schools and students they're looking at. Certainly translating the impacts of girls in the classroom from majority middle-class two-parent white kids in the suburbs with majority single parent households of mostly minorities in urban centers and vice-versa can't be very reliable.

And like All or Nothing pointed out, IQ is largely unrelated for emoting and socializing. So my son could be ahead of the curve on math and reading, but still just average or even below average when it comes to social skills, and still much in need of having other boys around. He may not seem like it to me, but what's to say a child can't regress socially in the right situation.

Girls learning social skills faster than boys is due to evolutionary pressures driving male and female minds to develop slightly differently. Neurological research and research into the affects of hormones (estrogen vs testosterone) on differences in behavioral development have shown that female brains have developed in a way where they can learn how to socialize better than males with estrogen driving them to learn social skills faster and male brains have developed to be better at task completion and spatial reasoning with testosterone driving them to understand these concepts faster.

Whereas boys can bond and interact within competition, even if it's just kids trying to one-up each other with stories about their weekend before the school bell rings. That element is watered down in the current environment, but I'm sure young boys still compare grades on tests and art projects now, because they seem to have a natural desire to establish hierarchy in nearly everything. Who's the fastest runner, who's the best on the monkey bars, who got the answer first, etc. I'm concerned that with only four boys present such activity will be curtailed even further, which is one of their primary motivators in nearly everything they do at that age.

I'm just paying him back for knocking his mom's vagina out of commission and hogging her tits when he came into this world.

Yeah that's another thing. Most people I know who have kids have daughters. Don't know what the stats are on this, but I wondered a few times if the ratios were changing.

As proof of how fem-centric the US is becoming, you can see recent polls which show a majority of prospective parents would prefer to have a girl.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

Honestly, I think this is a good chance for your son to learn how to interact with girls at a young age. This could be a good opportunity for growth and will contribute to better social skills and success with the opposite sex in the future.

The only thing I'd say is make sure he's getting masculine interaction with you and socialize him with other boys his age outside of school. Sports would be good for getting his dose of masculine socialization.

If you look at the lives of many "naturals," you find that they got started early. This could be very good for him, if he just stays true to himself and has fun. Tell him to be polite to girls, but don't supplicate. Above all, he'll develop an abundance mentality.

Read the second post I put up above. What you're talking about is what I'm talking about: the cognitive links forming earlier in female brains that promote earlier learning but men have surpassed by 20. Recent schools of thought are suggestive of a more fluid model of IQ, including degradation with loss of sensory input due to aging - particularly hearing damage being related to losses in memory - and the effects of certain drugs, like pot.

With emotion, the links form between hemispheres in girls - girls process it left and right. Male brains don't usually do this. I've also been reading that the way young men are now processing information in smaller bites due to internet culture is having negative effects on cortisol levels in male brains, increasing stress and aggressiveness, and the emotional neural links that should be forming, aren't. It's fascinating stuff.

I read your second post and am in agreement with what you said.
