What's with the comic book/movie obsession?

Superman is so powerful that he doesn't really face any adversity it seems.

Take all that away, and what do you have? Can he really deal with life's stresses? Does he really have a strong character? It seems like he's only his powers, and the decision to be a good guy.

He's not like Batman who has to deal with a lot more. One reason why Batman is much more interesting and relevant.

I really didn't like the guy who played Brian Cranston 's son in Godzilla

Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.

Is the comic book obsession a sign that adults nowadays are adopting a childlike mentality?

They're power fantasies for the powerless, which is why they're traditionally-associated with children. As healthy children age, they learn to recognise a sense of power over their own lives, which means they find the exaggerated, unrealistic fantasies on display in comics immature and silly compared to their reality, so discard them.

Current society discourages maturing into a healthy adult and having real control over your life: victimisation; phantom constructs to create a persecution complex; discouraging personal change instead of 'acceptance'; a constant mantra of 'empowerment' that rings false to the audience. A society of people who look like adults, but still respond as children. Comic book movies are simply their coping mechanism, which is why they're also attracted to shows like 'Breaking Bad' and 'Game Of Thrones', because they're about charismatic people with agency.

Thinking about this, I think this is why feminists are demanding strong female role models in video games: even though they're powerful in our society, dogma has trained them to think of themselves as always being helpless victims, meaning they require the same bullshit power fantasies male gamers do, particularly as 'strong, independent' female characters end up as unrealistic and exaggerated as the roided out growly voice space soliders are.

I'm not attacking video games, as such. I play them without expecting the characters to be a reflection of my inner fantasies of who I wish I was, meaning I'm unconcerned if I'm playing a female or male character. It's the advantage of being happy in my own skin.

I think one reason for the proliferation of superhero movies, is that it gives studios/ producers a plausible 15 film series. After all, after sequel #3 or 4, people start to get sick of the franchise, but with comics, they can make a whole universe, and produce 15 or 20 films off of the same idea.

...and on top of that, movies with easily-understandable plots and identifiable characters do massive business overseas, and that's how Hollywood really rakes it in.

Those complicated Woody Allen comedies might get critics excited, but they don't put butts in the seats globally. As always, follow the money.

Same goes for why record companies push simplistic dance music.
