Is Twitter dying?

This is what 'The Atlantic' argues:

http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/ar...er/361339/

But the reason I am linking to the story is because I want to know if anybody on here uses it?

I never understood the point.

Limiting yourself to 140 characters is just a waste of time. What is the point?

[The above is 327 characters - I will never know how people can get by on just 140!]

I've personally never used Twitter, I also rarely post on facebook unless it's an instagram feed being pushed to it.

I hardly know anyone that uses it (I'm 27)

I still don't get twitter, it's a bunch of bullshit to me. Maybe it's usefull to troll feminists and get some laughs? That's about the only thing I've liked about it when Tuth pisses em off with an ROK article and the chicks tweet about it. Good times.

Speaking of that. I just tweeted this:

I've noticed that Twitter has been less active lately. I figure it was just people in my universe bring bored, but it makes sense that it might be on the decline.

Is Twitter dying?

I had a personal twitter about a year ago and hated it. I only had it because I was abroad and could keep friends and family updated.

I now have one for my blog as social media is a great way to promote a busoness, oneself etc., but never post on it these days except for new articles I write. Anytime I would it would feel so contrived. I'm an introvert, so maybe that carries over to twitter.

I think social media like twitter will always have a place, but like most things these days it was just a trend. Your average Joe has no need for a twitter unless they are a complete narcissist or obsessed with pop culture.

Should be interesting to see how far down it goes....

I've never had an RSS feed, but I think my Twitter basically functions like one, alerting me to longer posts in my areas of interest. It's like outsourcing the Internet filter to certain people (mainly public figures) whose views I find interesting.

I've tried but have no use for Facebook or Twitter.
I put it down to having grown up before the widespread use of the internet and defaulting back to the ways of interacting I knew when I was growing up. But that may not be the real reason. It will be interesting to see if a lot of the millennial generation start to reject this stuff too.

Summer is nearly here. Everything online will be dying until about September.

Big fan of twitter here. Great in my line of work, where following accounts and being automatically updated about various info/statistics about sports and betting can pay dividends (in betting I mean it literally). I rarely make any tweets though.

Twitter has value if you follow your interests much like Reddit has value if you subscribe to the right subreddits or an RSS feed has value if you read blogs.

You can receive updates from your local X place, someone you look up to, Roosh's new blog post, real time opinions on events, streams for sports, conversations, people you care about's posts without the FB vanity, etc.

Further, the search feature allows for possibly the most unfiltered dialogue of opinions on any matter in real time.

Anonymous web personas are created around twitter accounts that make change.

It is a source of primary source of linkbuilding or SEO for a website.

I could go on for awhile. Its really the only social media I use and I've been on it from the start. It is what you make of it, like most in life.

Tuth, I did a search and it came up in the top 4 suggestions, in 4th place.

I clicked on some of the results, not sure if all these "responses" were originally posted on the forum, lots of laughs:

I hate it, but I understand it.

It's rapid fire discussion with people typically outside of your social network.

I don't know if you've read the Tipping Point, but it's a great way to build weak ties.

But I still hate it. Don't plan on using it.

Since its recent decline in share price (from $74 to $32), Twitter's market capitalization is now worth less than what Facebook paid for WhatsApp!

I have a twitter. I don't actually use it. I don't have enough/have too much of an attention span to read 98735013956 irrelevant posts every five minutes.

I'm on Twitter to get promo information from AMEX and a couple other vendors I use.

As far as actually "Tweeting" goes, nope, I don't.

And after the thread on RVF, I closed my Facebook account and haven't missed it for a second.

Same for me. I think Google is adjusting autocomplete based on Tuth's search history.

Check out this fine specimen of a young black female.

Check out this self-styled miserable white female.

If Twitter is dying, its because women killed it. Those two moronic narcissists apparently sit on Twitter all day, talking this big game of how much they hate white men, incessantly bashing everybody they can dig their judgmental claws into. These women are not the exception. The torrent of hatred and self-absorption is simply just plainly obvious from those two.

Further, when ratios on a given site start to creep north of 65/35 or 70/30 females to males, women start to view men with great suspicion who are on the sites. You know, the whole "creepy ass men invading female spaces, where oh where are our precious safe spaces where we can snark and preen with men simply as spectators not as active participants."

Twitter has always seemed to be a cesspool of digital female gossip/garbage to me, but I didn't join till this time last year. However, I have noticed it getting worse with more and more young female users using it incessantly from their phone, keeping the rage at 300 degrees 24 hours a day.

They wonder why they are so full of hatred, bigotry and are utterly miserable: they are slaves to the system, constantly looking for fleeting, superficial victories that always seem to involve: sexism, sexual assault, white people and male homosexuality. Most men are not interested in the constant rage machine embraced by the left.

In sum, when too many women congregate in one location for too long, it simply turns into one petty, self-absorbed flame war. Women know how petty and immature it is and absolutely hate being reminded of it by men.

Possibly, but I'm not sure. According to the Internet, it has to do with region. I stay logged out of Google, so it doesn't save my search history, and I tried it on browsers that I don't use for anything.

I just tried it on my phone (using a browser I've never used, and not connected to wifi) and got this:

I think this is getting at the answer, but I'd add that women are easily bored and move onto the next shiny object whenever that happens. Whether that's Instagram or something else is debatable, but you can be sure they'll all do it en herd masse.
