People supporting Russia's exclusion from the G8...

Why does this have to be about choosing sides? Can't I believe that the United States was wrong to invade Iraq and Russia was wrong to invade Crimea?

In my opinion, no. Yes, you can.

The entire discussion here has turned in that direction. There has been very little discussion about Ukraine. Lot's of geo-political "whataboutism".

By the way, I chatted with a few Crimeans recently. "I am so sad. we are under occupation." and "Life is harder now." I was a bit surprised.

Three months and I am still looking for an advocate of the Russian Invasion from within Ukraine who was not a Soviet pensioner or a paid thug.

Yeah, Israel likes to play the innocent bystander.

Much like Obama and his "present" votes.

Don't give anyone ammunition to use against them.

I am seeing a lot of threads on social media with people declaring their support of Russia's exclusion from the G8 on the basis of their presence in the Crimea.

In all seriousness, can somebody please logically answer the following question for me:

[b]Why is Russia excluded from the G8 for peacefully entering a pro-Russian republic of a constitutionally illegitimate government, with the consent as well as majority support of the republic's government and population....

The simple answer is that the plebiscite legitimating another Russian invasion was all too rushed! Where were minority interests like the Tatar's ever involved? They weren't. Where were the international election observers to see that vote counting was legitimate and attendance at voting was uncoerced? Absent.

Honoring these basic international norms for popular government are not difficult to see violated by Putin's Russia - inside or outside when they steamroller foreign peoples.

What don't you "get" about that? It's long been the Russian Stalinist mauling Bear pattern that complements Putin's obvious baldness.

Actually you are wrong..there was international observers. They invited politicians from European countries.Austrian parliament guy who was their even had interview where he sad it went smoothly and quietly.
Do international observers go to American elections even? Not sure.
My nephew voted no gun to his head btw
The Tatars are a minority..you said that yourself. Democracy is about what majority wants NOT what a minority wants.USA isn't a real democracy. We are a Republic with a democratic electoral process and politicians support minorities to get votes since a miniority group is more likely to suffer from political group think.
That being said..I don't think you even have a full grasp of the situation. Even if all the Tatars voted ..the outcome would still be over 70%. Even most western experts predicted that. The media admitted it even.
You also don't seem to even understand anything about the Tatars interests. They aren't nationalistic Ukrainians..and in fact would love their own republic. Their are 3 main reasons why they boycotted the election:
1. They somehow blame Russia as the inheritor of USSR for Stalins deportation of them. Stalin was a Georgian btw.So their is historical distrust.
2. The Ukraine never got rid of squatter right laws that were from the soviet era. Russia got rid of those laws. The Tatars have been squatting on gov't land in Crimea and taking it over. It is a big scam that they do. They are afraid that if Crimea enters Russia that their scamming of the old Soviet law will be over.
3.Many never registered and are illegally in Ukraine. In fact I personally know of one who is afraid now that he might get kicked out if he comes forward.
That being said..not all Tatars boycotted the election. They tend to stick together like religious Jews do but many actually did vote against the wishes of their leaders/family no doubt. Even to become part of Russia. The leader of Tatarstan convinced many to join.
