The fact that she overfeeds her son (and herself) and sends him into a fight where he is in over his head is idiotic. We don't really know all of the backstory(she said the other boys were trespassing and looking for a fight and her son was going to give him one?). the fat kid looked like he had no idea what he was doing, I don't even think he threw a single punch but just got hit in the face and started crying?

My first thought was that this was a single mother who had heard that teaching their boy not to run from a fight was what fathers do, but just got it wrong. She tried, but just didn't understand that this wasn't the fight he needed to have - an honest mistake.

But there is a man who hangs back at what appears to be the white kids house. What the fuck is he doing, just sitting back and letting this shit go on? He's a man, he should know have known better.

Overweight mom shoves overweight son into a fight that's being recorded so that the everyone in that kids school district is gonna see him get humiliated. He's never gonna live that one down. Hopefully he learns that some fights just aren't worth getting in, no matter who is involved.

There are instances when a parent should let their kid know they need to man up and do what they have to do. This however was not one of them.

There is a big difference between a gut check, and giving the kid the tools he needs to succeed in a gut check. Whether you're a coach or parent, these things may look harsh or arbitrary, but they're actually (supposed to be) carefully calculated.

Ya, sending a kid into a fight that he is absolutely going to lose seems like bad parenting to me.

Good parenting would be teaching a kid the confidence he needs to fight his own battles without momma needing to stand behind him and tell him to "keep his fists up."

On the other hand, I'm not so sure that teaching kids to always back down from a fight is in every child's best interests.

Unfortunately in our society, eventually you get to an age where responding with violence will quickly curtail your freedom, so parents have to walk a fine line in teaching their children to respond to AMOGs.

I watched that video again. It's really disturbing to see that level of trashiness. Americans have it too good. A part of me hopes that the economy gets a little worse, and that all the welfare checks stop be given to these types of people. Then people will learn the value of respect and class, and those that don't will starve out on the streets.

Not sure it would work like that. Starving/poor people are not going to respect the rich. They will overthrow the rich 100 to 1.

It's in the governments best interest to give them just enough money to keep doing what they are doing and let the plebs sort it out with each other.
