It's been about a week since the "induction phase" of my atkins diet finished, and aside from a few days where there was a bit of binge drinking (including just a little beer, but some sugary cocktails as well) and some binge eating (late night burrito runs) my diet is basically still pretty high protein, low carb. I do eat quite a bit more vegetables now, but protein is still a big part of the diet. I've definitely bumped myself out of ketosis though.
I don't really have a scale here right now to check my weight, but looking at my stomach now and seeing less fat, I can say the diet for the most part has worked.
I definitely see myself transitioning to a more veggie based diet soon. Although, I think the key is everything in moderation at this point.
Since starting the diet my stomach has shrank, mainly because when your diet consists of protein, protein, and more protein, like in Atkins, your taste for food changes. When the only options you have are chicken, beef, fish, or tofu (etc), you slowly lose interest in munching on bad foods.
I'm not going to lie, my weight gain was caused by terrible eating decisions. Before this point I thought since I ran twice a week for a couple of miles, that I could eat whatever junk food I wanted. I was still under the mentality I had back when I was way more active. This diet has helped me get past that binge eating mindset and on the road to more moderation (and awareness of what I eat).
All in all, good stuff!
