In the past I used their products with great satisfaction, both clothing and shoes. But they are not what they used to be now. What I liked about Timberland products was good quality, good atypical looks (as opposed to run of the mill brands such as GAP, H&M etc) and prices that were not expensive. Do you know any good alternatives?

Last 3-4 boots I've had were Timberland and all in all I was satisfied with their quality. The Chelsea boots lasted me about 1 year each but that was wearing them almost everyday, so I'm quite satisfied. The hiking boots lasted me around 3-4 years and I replaced them yesterday. I bought The North Face Thermoball shoes that were on sale for 59 euros. So far they are very good quality, I wore them all day and was comfortable. So maybe check some The Nort Face shoes?

Anything good for snow and ice?

I have seen these but wondering if it is just strong advertising but a poor product. Really trying to find a way to walk when snow turns into ice.

And walking on ice isn't too much of a problem? Just talking about ice on sidewalks and such - not hiking. I will check them out thanks!

Some names to play with are Lowa, Meindl, Hanwag, Lundhags and Altberg. My memory goes back a way, so these may not be what they once were - Rockport boots now bear no resemblance to my first pair, purchased 20 years ago.

I bought an Earthkeeper's Richmond Oxford (or something of that order) from them several years ago. They looked very good and lasted about 3 years. They were something like "action oxfords". Bought another pair a couple years ago and while still good quality, didn't look as good as the old ones. What I'm looking for in terms of footwear is something between dress and action shoes. There are Allen Edmonds dress boots but they are pretty expensive (and dress boots may be a little gay?)

I also bought a Timberland polo shirt last year and it looks ill fitted.

I use Engelbert Strauss gear,not exactly cheap (not that expensive either)but much more sturdy and reliable than actual camping brands if roughing up your footwear is your thing.
You will look like a cyberpunk reject though (which suits me fine!)

Ecco Trek. They did have problems with the rubber soles at one time but they're good. I've had these and like them.
