My Vasectomy Experience

I planned to have this done 4 years ago but while researching it very thoroughly I couldn't get past the Post vasectomy Pain syndrome (PVPS) that purportedly 30% experience and some doctors claim ALL men who get vasectomies get it but it differs how SOON they start to feel the pain.

I forgot where I read it but one person said that PVPS was just a fake ruse created by feminist to scare men away from vasectomies. Sounds kind of like bullshit but I had planned for years to get a vasectomy and PVPS is the only thing holding me back.....

Has anyone who had a vasectomy experienced PVPS? Does anyone know if there is any truth to the "PVPS was created just to scare men out of getting vasectomies" claim??
It's only about 6 and 1/2 weeks out, but I have had no pain or soreness whatsoever so far (after the first week or so of post-procedure soreness).

On a sad note, I took a fertility test a couple of days ago...still have some soldiers ready for war [Image: confused.gif]

I don't buy that. Feminists are happy if men get vasectomies..relieves them of responsibility.

I hear what your saying as this actually was a reason I didnt get it done in college.

It wasnt until I met a number of guys who admitted to having a vasectomy and when I brought up the post vasectomy pain they said they never had any.

Im sure its a possiblity and lets be generous and say 1% get it. Of course that 1% could have gone to a bad doctor or had a scapel as opposed to non scapel. Or be over exaggerating the extent of the pain. Or had it done 10-15 years ago when doctors used more invasive vasectomy surgeries. Those guys would be upset and shout it all over the internet. Meanwhile the 99% have no reason to talk about it because everything works great.

Consider the country of New Zealand something like 23% of the men there[/url] have had it done. Now thats a small country and with such a high percentage of guys with it dont you think if men were getting all this post vasectomy pain word would spread and guys there would not get it done?

But whats happened is because its a small country that word spread quickly that there are virtually no complications from men who knew other guys with it and said ok this seems safe and easy I will get it done.

So dont let the fear mongering of some corner of the internet scare you about the prevelance of post vasectomy pain.

It's been 2 months since I had mine done, and I haven't had any discomfort at all for weeks. They did feel a little bit tender when they were slapping up against my girls arse, but I don't think that had anything to do with the vasectomy.

No PVPS here.

(Reposting from another kind of dead thread -- a view on "why" more than pain etc .. )

She says: "blah blah, I'm not putting artificial synthetic hormones into my body"...

Here’s the issue – whether you’re in a long term relationship, or just rooting around randomly, it seems these days that you can’t rely on chicks to manage “not having babies”.

For whatever reason, this little responsibility has become just *to hard* for them to handle.

It’s odd, because as I understand it, women in the 70s 80s and 90s felt empowered by being able to manage their own fertility. They became empowered, being able to bang as they pleased, whilst not getting pregnant. A situation that allowed growing promiscuity, and the ability to hold on to their menial cubical based clerical jobs, without leaving to become mothers.

The pill == female empowerment.

Today, the situation of women staying off the pill, on purpose, is for reasons I have heard largely based on the same non-science, used my morons who fear vaccination. “I don’t want to put those artificial hormones into my body” she says – before she has raw dog sex with you, relying on you, some guy, to pull out at the critical moment.

I’m unsure that I have to point out the skewed risk reward basis here.

Nor make statements about the pill being used for 50 years ... on a broad heard population ... without any complications.

It’s a mad mad world.

Anyhoo, the solution appears to be the good old vasectomy, which essentially frees a guy from any ongoing responsibility. She can have all her little reasons for non-contraception, and you can nod along, and even compliment her on her smart choice of attacking the big pharmaceutical companies, by not buying their artificial hormones. “What a smart choice” you can say, whilst enjoying the irony that she will probably eventually get pregnant to an outlaw biker, or band member, essentially an “awwsome guy” who makes her very wet .. but whom has meagre job prospects, small earning capacity, and little inclination to support her, or a small child.

Such are the life choices of a modern empowered woman.

But enough about “her”.

Today’s vasectomy, and the increasing success of vasectomy reversals could be one of the more, or one of the only empowering developments for men in recent times.

Whilst we have given away so much ground to women and minority groups in recent decades, this old-school method of contraception appears to make sense for the modern man who aims to reduce is apparent obligations to the world, and to increase his freedom.

She can make her misguided fertility decisions, and, they have no financial or moral effect on him.

Hate to be THAT guy with the random bump, but had a physical today (everything checked out A-OK) so felt like it was time to update:

Only mild soreness on two or three occasions that has resulted in a conscious "of...its from the vasectomy" thought. DEFINITELY worth the piece of mind.

Yes, desire is still there and everything looks the same.

Hate that I didn't link before, but Bacon's post really kicks ass, too. Check it out.

Please feel free if you have any questions as my experience is pretty much legit (1.5 years out).

If you're thinking about it....do it!

What does your ejaculation look like? Is it more clear colored or the same white color?

I had my procedure done back in 2003, everything went as JK described. The most pain(mild pain) I felt was during the procedure itself. I actually went out and played a baseball game the day after I had it done. My tolerance for pain is a little higher than most.

No loss of Libido, no loss of ejaculate volume, the color has no change and I still get precum.

I'm scheduling my consult this week, so I appreciate all the info. Anyone experience noticeable testicle shrinkage and did the doctors say if they used clips or not?

I'm still debating over banking sperm. I know doctors can aspirate sperm directly from the testicles years down the road and reversals will be easily under $2000 within a few years. Let's say you wanted one child down the road, isn't there high odds of having twins with IVF? For me it comes down to - is my 31 year old sperm frozen for a decade higher quality than my own at 41?

Have been debating this for a few years now. I think I am ready to do it. I have had personal friends and enough evidence to know its completely safe and healthy to do. My only nagging questions are loss of libido, could this lead to a lower testosterone level? Now I am 40, and I dont want any kids. If the reversals and IVF are available, there is no real reason not to do it.

I'm taking the plunge tomorrow morning . My only concern is testicular atrophy and I've lined up all the supplements I should need to keep my boys healthy. I'll share my experience over the next couple of days.

Good luck bro, let us know how it goes. Been considering this myself recently.

Good luck. I've decided to probably put a vasectomy off until I'm in the last half of my 40s - if I haven't made a decision to have kids by then, I'll be reaching the point where I feel I'm getting older than I'd want to be as a father (I don't really want to be near 70 when my first kid finishes high school).

I'll add a little bit. I'm about 4 months post vasectomy right now. The actual procedure was a bit painful but at some point over your life you've definitely felt worse. I followed the after care routine to a T and didn't experience any unpleasant effects. So when you get home sit your ass on a bag of frozen pea's and don't move. I've noticed exactly zero sexual side effects and as others have mentioned it does make you a little bit more sexually wanton as you can bust in a chick and not worry about babies. Make sure to go get official results after it's over. I waited until I had about 30-35 orgasms until I got tested and it came out all clear. PM if you have questions.

Best of luck, brother. Hope it all turns out well. Enjoy your ice pack and Vicodin!

Best of luck. It's the best decision I ever made in my life. Just be careful going back to sex too quickly. I can't emphasize enough to let yourself heal adequately before going back to it. Cheers bro!

Been considering a vasectomy for almost 5 years now and I'm getting one next year. Don't want kids, probably never will. Going through a pregnancy scare right now with a girl I've been on 1 date with. She's going to the clinic so I should be fine but fuck that. Not going to ruin my entire life because a condom broke or I fuck up my pull out game.

Probably will plan my vasectomy for early next year. I have health insurance and a decent enough job so I should be fine.

Can't wait to never have to worry about knocking a woman up again. The worst possible STD is pregnancy.
