Need to Leave Russia - Where Next?

Actually I see this as more of a blessing than a curse (even though I lost my job). I love Moscow, but my time is up, and frankly I'm sick of Moscow girls and the crazy expense of this city and want to explore a bit more and just relax as my job has been incredibly stressful the past couple of years. Funny but I have to admit even though I'm in Russia all the stories about Ukrainian, Romanian, Czech and other girls has got me hot and bothered about hitting up Eastern Europe. And even though Moscow is unreal in terms of ladies and weekend parties, it's not so hot during much of the week and I'd be interested in chilling in a city that's got more going on Mon-Thurs.

The main requirements are basically to 1) have access to nice ladies [Image: smile.gif]; 2) be in close proximity to finding a job in Moscow/London/Vienna et al (i.e. can fly there in 1-2 hours cheaply) and 3) be near beaches/skiing etc.? That puts most of the Central European countries right in the bullseye and so I am just trying to figure out where to go.

So far I'm thinking a month or so in Prague or maybe a second-tier Czech city, then Bucharest, or Kiev (if the riots are over) and then maybe a couple weeks skiing in the Alps in between. Zagreb and Budapest are also looming large in my mind.

I'd be running solo completely but that would be totally cool and I'm looking forward to being out on the road on my own. Of course I'll probably blow through most of my saved up cash but I should be able to make it up over the course of my new job (right)?

I realize this is a pretty wide open thread/question but I am honestly open for anything, and would like to hit up as many new places as I can. I also recognize now that time is much more valuable than money in terms of chasing ladies and am focused and will put in the effort and report back and hopefully give back to the forum as much as I can. Courage Reborn has been on a tear recently and ideally I'd like to replicate some of what he's done, but maybe throw in a few more of the second tier cities in EE in lieu of places like Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki et al where I've already been anyway.

Anyway, thanks for any suggestions and it's GO TIME BOYS!!!

Go to Poland and don't fuck up it for me when I go back.

Joking aside, I am sorry to hear of the job loss. But I am sure you can find one whenever you want.

I know it sounds stupid, but take out a map. And do like they do in the movies and draw circles around Moscow/London/Vienna that represent those travel times. Since it seems that is an important criteria. You can then look for overlaps, etc. Blah blah, but it gives you an idea.

But really, I would just go with what your feeling. I know a lot of people want a lot of data before doing it - but from reading slubu's thread you seem to have an adventurer's spirit with some common sense (I mean you will check the pool to see if there is water before jumping in - but you won't measure its temperature - if that makes sense).

If you really wanna be precise you could use this, lol.

Ha ha good idea)) Don't worry I will not screw up Poland for the rest of us! I really want to hang out in Europe and this just gave me the perfect opportunity to do it so I"m pumped up. But I also wanna hit up Thailand and maybe Indonesia at some point so have to work this out carefully....it's a good problem to have but I don't wanna screw it up all the same.

Smashed at home now too so bring it on!!!))))

Damn man, sorry to hear. As you know I'm a big fan of Moscow but it's always nice to change it up a bit. I don't know how you will adjust to not having Moscovian girls around, but there's always different out there.

All the places you said sound good. I wish I knew more about the jobs in these countries but I don't. I'd say travel around a bit and see where sticks for you and you feel like you can live for a while. A FSU location would be easiest, given your ability to speak some Russian and the girls are still top tier.

Best of luck!

Thanks pal. Moscow rocks but like anywhere else after 4-5 years it can get old. I think I'll try to do as you say and travel a bit to figure out where is best. I've got some good friends here who can hold some of my stuff until I find paradise)) It's funny but now that Ukraine/Kiev is sort of shut down due to the political riots it's a bit harder to figure out where to hang - otherwise it would be the perfect place to run game and also learn Russian. Am giving serious thought to getting a Belorussian visa and staying there for awhile given how nice the women seem to be from there....sort of like Russia 10-15 years ago...

I imagine going to Poland from Moscow would be a shocking downgrade in quality. The Baltics or Ukraine would make for a smoother transition.

For second-tier Czech Republic, I can highly recommend Ostrava. Very livable city and very few tourists. Many of the girls I talked to there had never met an American. English levels are low. Budapest is an awesome city but I found the women very underwhelming. I rented an apartment there for a month expecting porn stars and found the average to be no higher than America. Hungarians are a weird people too, I much preferred my time in slavic lands.

Thanks - yeah I think that's probably right but it would be very interesting to compare and contrast after being here so long. I have not hit up the Baltics yet so am pretty incentivized to knock them out first, but given the lack of daylight and cold weather up there right now I think I might start out in the Balkans first and then go there later.

It's funny but I was dreaming of this opportunity for a long time after being stuck in a somewhat unsatisfying job for the last couple years and now that I can finally do some extensive traveling I'm a little confused as just where to start out. I mean it's literally a case of looking out the window saying 'man if I could just get 2-3 months off to go out Nomad and hit up all these great places everyone's writing about it would be great' and now I have the chance and I'm almost paralyzed in terms of making a decision, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

A lot of places are good for a week or two, then afterwards I'm missing too many things I like. So if I had a month to spend in another in Europe my list right now would be something like:

Bucharest, Warsaw, Kosice, Barcelona

I've already been to all of these more than once, so I guess I won't commit to a month without knowing what I'm getting into!

P.S. I was watching that TV show about the KGB agents deep undercover - "The Americans". Now I know what an Akula is ;-)

thanks it's funny but I heard about Ostrava on one of the Czech threads and it's definitely on my list. After living in the 'big city' in Russia for so long and realizing that most of the cooler girls were from smaller provincial towns I just think there's much more value and a better 'expat' experience in the 2nd tier cities but what do I know. I've had some pretty annoying experiences with girls who I thought were 'sweet' here but who ended up going into 'gold digger' mode after a couple months...I guess I'm just sort of down on Moscow girls given how high maintenance some can be but then again there are a lot of nice ones too so you can't generalize

Sad to see you to before we got a chance to meet up. So far I love Moscow and I'm just now starting to get my flow here. But...you can get tired of any place after a few years thats for sure. Hope you enjoy wherever it is you choose.

If you want to go out at night, Prague is good in Winter and it's not as cold as Moscow. I'm planning to check out Ostrava again, but if you're interested in 2nd tier cities, maybe Brno would be better (2.5 hours to Prague, 1.5 hours to Bratislava, approx 1-2 hours to Olomouc or Ostrava, 1 hour to Zlin). Basically you can easily hit most 2nd tier Czech cities you've heard of in around 2 hours or less. Plus you can get to Vienna in about an hour and fly anywhere from there.

I have heard good things about Indonesia (there are some older threads) - just seems like traffic blows and maybe not a lot to do in Jakarta. But some of the chicks look pretty good.

Sorry to hear you lost your gig man. But that's always a blessing, meaning it wasn't the right situation, and now you are free to float to places, experiences, and women more meant for you.

As for next moves, I'd strongly consider Tallinn Estonia. Your Russian language skills will be a benefit, it's a hop skip jump to St. Petersburg, and the quality level is slavic high, with more blondes per capita if you're into that. Not to mention awesome food, nightlife options 7 days per week, centralized city layout, and high level of English.

I also like your idea about Belorussia. The forum currently lacks good data on that part of the world.

Ukraine might be more of the same.

Go forth, conqueror!

I'd say go for Belarus. Your Russian skills will work perfectly, it's not over-run with tourists, and not too expensive.

Thanks man.

Yeah you're definitely right in that I need to seize this opportunity. It's a huge chance to do something more interesting and just recharge my batteries. I was not liking my job at the end of the day nor being stuck behind a desk for 10-11 hours each workday.

Funny but even before I read my thread this morning I was thinking Tallinn [Image: banana.gif] but I'm sure it's dark and cold up there now so at this point I'm leaning towards somewhere in the Czech Republic first, then Tallinn in the Spring and then maybe Belarus. This assumes I don't have a new job by then [Image: smile.gif] Ideally I'd be able to hit Indonesia for a couple weeks to get the hell out of the cold and chill out.

Wherever I end up, it's time to go Nomad but want to make sure I have all my stuff packed up and moved out of here asap. Bought a ton of stuff at Ikea the other day which I'll now have to give away or try to sell on Avito.ru or maybe eBay (which is now open for business in Russia FYI). Pain in the @ss!!!

I've never been to Russia, but I doubt you're going to find a place with more going on midweek in close in EE. I've been to pretty much every spot you're considering going so I'll give my opinion on the cities.

Prague- Absolutely and utterly inundated with tourists. I saw some of the worst and most ungodly sausage fests here as well. You'll have to venture outside of the center to find more of the "real Prague" which I never did apparently. As others have mentioned, day game is a better bet here, though I do find Czech women to be very beautiful. It does have round the week nightlife though, but I found it to be pretty bad.

Brno-This town was boring as hell in the middle of summer. I'm not sure if it heats up during school, but just don't come here unless the universities are in session.

Lviv- Very small, compact and fun city. Good for a few weekends. Metro club (student club) bumps every day. Fashion club is also cool. This city is definitely worth a few weekends when college is in session.

Cluj-I found the talent here to be awesome. Went when school was in session and was pretty blown away. English here was the best I saw anywhere in EE. I highly recommend it for a few weeks. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Kiev-Spent a few weeks here. If you have solid Russian this is an obvious choice. Very fun city, insane quality of women. Good nightlife round the week.

Baltics-I've never been but Estonia is at the top of the list of places I want to return to, along with Slovenia/Croatia/Austria.

As far as Poland, Warsaw and Krakow suck. Krakow is very beautiful and kind of fun due to the compact nature of it, but I felt like I was in Iberia when I went there.

Wroclaw is a keeper. Poznan was pretty dead. I'm curious about Lodz though....

I was in Kosice twice and everything just sort of fell into place. If you can hookup with somebody who lives there you can find good places. Women are very hot and it's a big student town, maybe they are more conservative, but that makes for better relationship material. I'd like to take some time and get to know a city in Slovakia, but maybe a month would be too long for Kosice.

To tell the truth, your description of Kosice is how Czechs describe Ostrava. Not to rain on the parade, but they say that in the winter the industrial pollution is so bad you can't breath and it's the Gypsy central for Czech Republic (I've never had any problem with Gypsies, but Czechs love to talk about them). The bar street has a few high points. There's a reggae bar there with a cloud of pot smoke and a bunch of hipsters, some even with dreads. All boogying, smiling and having a great time. I was so surprised to find that I wanted to stay around and check it out, but the girl who was showing me around was like "let's get out, now!". LOL

Don't know why Warsaw get such a bad rap here, I want to check out Wroclaw, but everytime I'm in Warsaw I run into the friendliest expats living there who say, hang out with us! I always have fun and there's definitely stuff to do every night.

Also what about Odessa? I know a guy on the ground there who says it's completely untouched by the protests.

Odessa is also on the list, but more and more I'm leaning towards a few weeks in Thailand (just to get out of this cold for a bit, and do some Muay Thai training) and then Indonesia for a week and then come back closer to March. At that point I was hoping that the Czech Republic would be at least a little bit warmer and I'd be in pole position for Spring fever. Tallinn could also work as well.

Of course, I'll probably start looking for work on Monday and then get a job and it will screw up all my plans!
