Disclaimer: I'm not a Bulgarian, I'm German. Which in this case is helpful I think, because I can give you the foreigner's perspective. I've been living here for a year now.
I read a lot in this board already, tons of useful information. About Bulgaria there was very contradicting information though. The only useful thread so far was started by K-Man http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-5028.h...ight=sofia who gave a nice insider perspective. Check his thread for infos about food and taxis etc. in order to not get ripped off. It's definitely worth reading, but of course you'll always see the country from a different angle as a visitor/expat who doesn't speak the language. I will sometimes use Ukraine as a country for comparison, just so people get an idea. I love Ukraine and visit there regularly, so no bashing here from my side.
Abstract for the lazy: Visiting Bulgaria for the Ladies is an ok idea, but probably you'll get more tail somewhere else (Ukraine, Poland). Forget about the pipelining, either do day approaches in Malls or go out to big clubs downtown where the golddiggers are or go to studentskigrad. Either way, let it rain. Hookers are really cheap. Bulgaria is definitely worth visiting for the fun stuff WHILE pursuing pussy, snowboarding, jetskiing, limorides etc. Living in Bulgaria is a whole different issue and most definitely worth pursuing.
First let's start with some ground facts about Bulgaria to explain why things are the way they are. Bulgaria is a very small but diverse country. It has a nice seaside, decent skiing resorts (Rodopian mountains, Rila etc.) and a lot of ancient history. It also sports the usual ugly communist architecture outside of the city centers.
Bulgarians live the American Dream: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cou...rship_rate In stark contrast to Ukraine, Romania or Russia the fall of the communist government went halfway smoothly in terms of housing. I don't know any guy my age (30) who doesn't own AT LEAST one apartment. That's why you have to put the average monthly salaries into perspective: no one pays rent over here.
Still in the end of the nineties there was a huge crisis in Bulgaria, rationed goods and food included. "Liberalism" and "Market capitalism" introduced too fast and in the wrong way created a crony capitalism, mafia infested and corrupt. The current ongoing protests in the capital Sofia speak volumes about the attitude of Bulgarians toward their ruling class. Former PM Bojko Borissov has an estimated net worth of 1 billion euro, no one knows for sure. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boyko_Boris...il_service A former Karate fighter and roughneck he founded a Security company and was a bodyguard to the former President and head of state, thus getting all his political and economical contacts he needed for founding his "party". All bulgarian partys, except the communist, are one-man centered sockpuppets.
All real life in Bulgaria takes place in Sofia, which is officially a city of 1,2 million. In reality rather 1,5 million. Unlike in Spain or Germany, with lots of different regional centers, everything in Finance, Politics, Business etc. is here. There are two more interesting cities: Burgas and Varna. Both of them are on the seaside. The fourth major city, Plovdiv is one hour from Sofia and is nice for a day or weekend trip. Also if you have a girl there it's a short ride. In contrast to Sofia it's a beautiful city with some roman ruins. It's in decline though, it just got surpassed population-wise by Varna. Simple reason is: no seaside, less tourists. Everything else takes place in Sofia. The smaller cities and villages are only for die-hard players who like the challenge (I remember one post here from some guy hitting it up in rural Belarus...it's kinda like that). Stara Zagora, Yambol, Ruse .. even less English, Russian doesn't get you anywhere except with ladies 40+ and the bus driver. Most young people fled to Sofia or abroad. Which in turn of course doesn't mean, that you won't find THE most beautiful gem there or your future wife to be...the road less traveled.
This is important to know, because these are the causes for a massive brain drain. Starting in that time, more and more bulgarians tried to move abroad, especially the younger and more educated. My home country Germany, and also the UK, massively profit from well educated Bulgarians (and Romanians for that matter) moving to our countries, working jobs, paying taxes and founding families. Most who left Bulgaria never came back. In addition to the general european "breeding" problem (except the well "beloved" gypsie families here) this causes a massive decline in population: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Population_...e#Bulgaria .
That is the reason, why there are so many posts about someone meeting such a nice and pretty Bulgarian chick in NY/London/Germany/LA...good looking chicks can just marry their way out to get a green card and in general have life way easier. Some dick is going to sponsor their education for sure. In addition, UK was the first to lift the ban on Romanians and Bulgarians to enter their labour market. So most went there, Germany (and other wester european countries) are going to lift the ban 1st of January 2014. This will probably lead to some more people fleeing the country. The fear in western europe is exaggerated though, most Bulgarians who wanted to leave are already gone. A whole lot of Gypsies looking for welfare are sitting on packed luggage though, lots of Bulgarians joke around they're already pooling in money for the one-way-tickets. Some extra info on currency: In the late nineties the Lewa (bulgarian currency, cents are called stotinki) got pegged to the Deutsche Mark and later to the Euro. Which is VERY comfortable, always the same exchange rate considering Euros. Also, since it's roughly 1:2 and the shit here is about half as expensive, it's a paradise for players used to euro prices. Example : Pizza in germany: 7€ ok, 10€, expensive, 13€ ripoff. Same here .. 7 Lewa OK, 10 Lewa Expensive, 13 Lewa Ripoff. Except: all half the price in denomination.
That in turn brings us to the game. Unlike in Ukraine, where every american/EU citizen is a possible way out of the mess of trying to pay rent, maybe bring up a child with the father being gone/alcoholic, Bulgarians in the bigger cities have an OK life. They don't pay rent, food is affordable and tasty, since labor is cheap so are all services. If you work a halfway decent job here, you don't live much different than in Western Europe. Remember though, this is only valid for the major cities, smaller cities and villages are a whole different story. So those Bulgarian chicks who need a ticket out ... are long gone. They married US citizens or germans or former bulgarians with the proper passports. Or they have a good education and just left for a good job. Ukrainians have it ten times tougher to pull this shit off. That's why it's more difficult to get a passport bonus here.
The guys also make game more difficult. This whole western europe feminism shit never took place here. These are real men, alphas, all hit the gym and they are fucking hustlers. Plus they speak the language, so you have some tough competition. Which of course does not mean, that a Bulgarian chick doesn't want to fuck an interesting foreigner once in a while, every girl does. Hell, so do we, we travel all the world for foreign pussy. But being ripped isn't going to get you anywhere here. If you want to succeed with a girl you have to play an unusual game, still stay alpha but don't be such a dick as most bulgarian roughnecks. Giving her shit won't get you anywhere, she gets it everyday allday. The guys are hustlers because their dads grew up in communism, where without hustling and connections you don't get anywhere. And after the breakdown of communism they had to settle in a whole new emerging system, which in turn almost broke in 1997. These guys are streetsmart as hell.
All pretty depressing considering an easy lay. But like everywhere in the world, if you know where to go you will still get shit done. There are always two or three fancy clubs where the golddiggers hang out, right now it's Club Tequila, Blender and Mascara. Bulgarian chicks are very diverse, but as a rule of thumb you're right here when you like skinny and athletic girls with dark hair and (surprisingly many) beautiful blue and green eyes. You're also right here if you like plastic tits. You're wrong here if you're into natural blondes, natural big tits and/or butts. Go to sweden or ukraine. These girls speak english well, invite them for drinks, bring some nice conversation and you can fuck them. Easy as that. Second option is Studentskigrad, it's like one big fucking college dorm, tower after tower with lots of clubs in between. Here they mostly play the local turbofolk, chalga. Also some Hiphop if you're lucky. Don't ! drink mixed drinks there, they mostly serve you window cleaner or whatever kind of shit. I'm a serious drinker (Level:German) and I once got a severe hungover from 2 ! Gin Tonics. I don't even want to know what they put in there. Go for bottled beer or buy a whole bottle of wodka for your table, it's a chick magnet anyways. All clubs have table service. The chicks there are mostly stupid village girls, they speak way less english, so you basically need to impress them with cash. This is for those guys who like to suit up and play ballers game. It's dirt cheap, so don't worry about expenses. Drunk food is nice and greasy, you can get a decent burger or kebab for as low as 2 Dollars, 24/7. there is also a 24/7 supermarket right at the main street, Fantastico.
So much for nightlife. Daygame is at a medium level I'd say. I read some posts here stating that girls on the street in Budapest and Prague are way hotter. True that. But you know why? Because no beautiful Bulgarian girl is walking around in the streets. That's for tourists and poor people. Vitosha Blvd. (also the name of the beautiful mountain range encompassing Sofia) used to be the shopping mile, but nowadays it's halfway dead because there are tons of kick-ass modern malls in Sofia. And more are about to be built as soon as the housing market will pick up. The best malls for game (and for shopping) are The Mall (very creative name) right at the highway called Tsarigradsko shose. The second one is Paradise Mall at Blvd. Cherni Vrah (means black mountain). I prefer the latter, nice food court (check out Burger Bar, very legit sandwiches), IMAX 4D, all kinds of stores and a place called playground (lots of arcade action games). Most of this you also find at The Mall though, it's a matter of taste. Try both. My best move is always to single out a lady and ask her if she wants to play with me. First they're pissed but then you show them your rechargable playground card with an innocent smile and she's gonna laugh. Either she's busy or not into it then you pickup her number, or she'll come with you, you play some games with her and have fun and either join her in her car to her place or set a date for in a couple of hours. Balkan people don't plan ahead much, which I love.
Online Dating is only interesting if you're going to stay here for a while. The girls in there are better educated and don't go for an easy fuck. Since I live here, I pull lots of tail from okcupid.com though, all girls registered there speak perfect english. The Bulgarian sites, sladur.com etc. are a waste of time and money from my point of view. Same goes for gepime.bg, which is like a half fuck-facebook-half prostitution board. If you don't speak Bulgarian don't even bother with that stuff.
Talking about prostitution, there are very decent strip clubs in Sofia (I recommand the kama sutra, right at rakovski. it's opposite of my favorite bar, the rock-it). But there are more of the same owner, girls are plenty and rotate between the clubs. Dances and drinks are cheap in comparison, and you can take the ladies home with you. There are "pricey" escort services ( http://www.callgirlsbg.com/sofia for example) which are still way cheaper than anywhere else in the EU. If you go to some local sites you can get a one hour fuck-and-suck for 30 euro at your place, plus taxi expense. This I don't know anything about though. Not because I'm not a HUGE fan of hookers, au contraire !, but I'm too busy with the normal bulgarian chicks and they don't have the nice sauna whorehouses in Bulgaria like they have in Germany.
Sofia is a perfect city to go to all year-round EXCEPT summer. From End of May to early September it's just dead. Most clubs are closed, their counterparts at the Black sea open up. Often these clubs even have the same names and interior! In the North and in Sunny beach you'll mostly find Germans, British and other Western Europeans. In Burgas and the surrounding nice small coastal cities you'll find Bulgarians, Ukrainians and Russians. Important: Speaking Russian doesn't get you anywhere with the girls. Because most Russians still behave like Bulgaria is their holiday part of the soviet empire, it'll rather cost you then gain you. Stick with English, learn two or three Bulgarian words, the chicks dig it. Then down south to my favorite city: Sozopol. Nice, cozy, beautiful, dirtcheap, lots of nice beach bars and chicks. Very calm though, it's 30km to Burgas if you want some more action. You can always pull the girls who work at the seaside, they speak english and are easy to go. About the tourists I don't know to be honest, I'd say probably the same game like all over the world if you want to be with some honeys who are vacationing. You don't need to reserve a room at all, they all have vacancies and rent out, NEVER go for a room without AC though to save a couple of bucks. It's not worth it. A bulgarian specialty is beach entertainment. You can rent a Shatra (http://www.gardenmebel.com/images/catalog/843.jpg kinda like this with a huge bed in there), close the curtains, do some coke and fuck one or two girls listening to the sound of the waves. Every now and then you wave for the girl from the bar and get a new ice cold beer. All including Wifi, if you really want to work at the beach. Best beer in Bulgaria: Zagorka.
Suggestions: Go to Sofia, enjoy yourself. Do all the fun stuff you can do here for cheap: VIP Shooting Range, Limo Rides, Paintball etc. after that either fly or take a bus to Burgas, check out the city for a day, then relax in Sozopol. Go to Tequila Bar and Elvis Bar and grab some girls. Later have a scenic drive up the coast to Varna, enjoy Sunny Beach if you're into some more crowded fun. You can do everything really really cheap here, Banana Boat riding, Jetski, Jetlev flyer ! Name it, they have it. From then on either fly back to Sofia (the Bus to Burgas is ok due to the newly built highway it's just 5 hours, Varna is a bitch on a bumpy road of 8 hours. don't!) or just go up the Romanian coast to constanta, get some ass, keep on going to Moldova and Ukraine. That's my motorcycle trip for May/June. Or the other way round, work yourself down from Varna to Burgas, go to Lüleburgaz in Turkey (nice little city) and then head on to the turkish mediterranean. Fly out of Istanbul wherever you want to or take a ferry to Beirut/Tel Aviv.
If you come in Winter, enjoy Sofia and it's cheap taxi rides, Plovdiv and go to Bansko! A very legit ski resort where you can meet nice snowbunnies in 5* accomodations for really good deals. If you speak russian or english, you can also apply there to work as a ski/snowboard instructor. Pay is gonna be shit, but you hang around in a nice and classy hotel with few hours, perfect wifi and weekly fresh produce of kateritshka (my favorite bulgarian word..it means squirrel ... and of course pussy. has a nice ring to it).
From Sofia there are three ! very nice options for flying out cheap: One is EasyJet to Berlin. I don't know much about the States, nothing about SEA or Latin America. But I know Europe inside out, meaning I've been to Andorra, Liechtenstein, Gibraltar, Monaco, Belarus, Kaliningrad..name it, I've been there. And there is only ONE city which can compete with Berlin's night life and that is Moscow, but for about 10 times the price. Second option is Kyiev with Wizzair, third is going off to Dubai, same Airline.
You can use Wizzair to fly out of Varna to London and out of Burgas to either Budapest or London (and some more destinations). If you want to do a Multistop, you can combine it with RyanAir and EasyJet from Sofia to London.
If anyone has any questions or wants to meetup...PM me. I hope that was helpful, first I wanted to include the living in Bulgaria part in here but it would have just been too much and too confusing. Whoever finds typos can keep 'em. Enjoy Bulgaria, Nasdrave !

If anyone has any questions or wants to meetup...PM me. I hope that was helpful, first I wanted to include the living in Bulgaria part in here but it would have just been too much and too confusing. Whoever finds typos can keep 'em. Enjoy Bulgaria, Nasdrave !
