Trends I've Noticed While Clubbing Over the Years...

What I dont understand about clubs is why guys would pay to get in to them.

My general rule is that, if it has a cover charge then (unless I can blag my way in or get on the guest list) I am not going in.

If you go to London you can walk into Harrod's or Selfridges for nothing. Department stores that cost hundreds of millions to own, staff and run and yet guys think its acceptable to pay to get into a bar or a club?

Why?

Paying just to enter a place of business does not make sense.

The worse one I saw was in Peru. There was a club that had ladies night. Girls entered for free and drank for free for serveral hours. Guys? Had to pay to get in. Cover charge did not even include one free drink. Nothing.

The worst part? For the period the girls were drinking for free, guys were not even allowed to enter the bar. Not even if they paid cover. They had to wait outside until the girls "free" drinking period was over (at which point most girls left).

Of course the girls are not drinking for "free". The girls drinks are being paid for by the stupid horny guys whose game is so bad that they are happy to not only buy drinks for girls who are complete strangers but are happy to be locked out of the bar whilst they drink them in the vain hope that their poor excuse for game will be good enough to get some action with drunk girls when they are finally let in.

I totally 100% agree with you on this one! I also never understood the waiting in line outside until some douchebag with a GED level education decides I am worthy of getting in to give them my money - fuck that.

Yeah Mixx, makes no sense to me but the market clearly shows that, yes, guys really are clueless and desperate enough to fall for it time and time again.

Its kind of like banging fat chicks. There is always someone out there who is desperate enough to do it.

As guys we might complain but until we wise up and dont fall for it any more we will continue to get what we stupidly deserve.

It parts of downstate New York - it seems that every club/lounge has a Latin night on Fri. or Sat. to at least have one night a week that douchebags don't take over. Anything on Long Island with an open 20 foot by 20 foot wood floor that someone can dance on is taken over by blowouts - its like finding chins in a chinese phonebook.

This is very geographically dependent. At least in NY you do get what you pay for when it comes to clubs. I actually prefer clubs that charge a high cover fee as long as women pay the same amount to get in. $25+ cover fee keeps the riff raff, Guetto folks and orange colored "Jersey Shore" dudes out of the fucking club. Also, I find women more prettier, slimmer, friendly and cooperative in clubs with high cover than I do in free or cheaper venues.

@speakeasy: Girls night out = committed girls night out. They are not interested in dance with men nor interact with the opposite sex because they already have their men at somewhere else.

clubs are a fools game. Expensive drinks, loud music, cock blockers, douche bags, and ridiculous cover and lines. What desperate guy would put himself through all that for the remote chance at a one night stand? I'm in this business and I can't believe how desperate and hard up American guys are. They are so needy and pathetic, so supplicating and then when things don't go their way they want to get angry and pick fights- with other douchebags.

no thanks. I'll stick to my local irish/english pub where i can meet normal girls who are 100x more approachable and cool.

@Bigbootyluvr: I'm with you 100%. Hell I have pulled more tail from Pubs, bars, and even fucking Mexican resteraunts than I have at loud crowded clubs.

DC has some good lounges but the clubs generaly suck..either real ghetto like the entire club empties into the street to see two brothers in skinny jeans try and fight each other, or real "see and be seen" by nobodies who think they are somebodies (ie) Skinny Russian sluts, and Persian dudes with too much cologne and uni-brows. Everyone else normal goes to bars or lounges.

Well in my area, the Mexican/Salvadoran/Peruvian resteraunts are full of cute waitresses. I tend to go in, talk to them in some of my broken Spanish, tip well (not huge needy tips for attention, but tip like a normal person, not like a low class naco) ask names and act like I'm slightly interested.

*These same places often double as miniature dance clubs. On Friday/Sat they often have DJ's and clear out the tables to make a dance floor. Since this isn't new York (very few Colombian, Dominican Puerto Ricans..) most of my area is Central American or Mexican and in my direct area most are new immigrants so at times, you need to tolerate some real shitty music, ranchero, banda, balladas, stuff straight from the country side of wherever these folks are from, but its still a good time usually. Of course when this happens though, you end up with the same problem of loud clubs with communication barriers.

Anyhow, my line for either of the above situations, is pretty much the same. I know enough Spanish to flirt a little, ask if she can help me with some Spanish practice (I do not say this first..that is gay and played out..I wait a little while for that and I act very sincere with it) ask them to teach me some dances or something and I'm in with the number. Allot of these girls like rubios, blue eyes to start with anyways, so this works well and some are actually surprised I'm interested, as many white guys are not tapping into these areas.

Irish Pubs: This is like shooting fish in a barrel. People go to Pubs and get wasted. Most Irish pubs = not allot of room to dance or to really game from afar. Most of the good Irish pubs are smaller, dark and a little crowded. If a girl goes to a pub dressed up, they are probably just pregaming there and planning to move on. If they are dressed down (Sweater, jeans, boots etc) then they are probably there for the night. I worked in an Irish pub bouncing for years (my friend owned a pub in DC) and in the winter weather it was very packed guys didn't dance, girls did, people got hammered, pretty much the same thing repeated every single night.

If you dress slightly above everyone else you will stand out. Not suits and Rolex's but a step above hoodies and ball caps is a start. Kick up a conversation about travelling, sampling some different kinds of scotch or Irish whiskey's etc. Most of the dudes there will probably claim to be Irish with the same old BS chatter, with their guiness in hand, so switch that up a little. Offer to go dance (if there is room) Offer to throw darts too...this is a good way to get her away from her crowd and kick some game over by the dart board or pool table.

Excellent post; I'm 26 and have been off clubs for at least two years now...I still go the odd time for a special event, but you'll never see me there with a girl 'Because I wannnnnt to goooooo!' or going there to sift through the slag heap of fatties and fuglos.

You meet way better girls in the daytime, not wallowing in the shallow pool of their own self-satisfaction that every guy in the spot has approached her, and of course its better lit.

Though I wouldn't mind opening a club, it seems a good racket. here are the rules;

- Music - Electronic dance, reggae, hip-hop from 1989-1994, new wave, live music.

- Two floors - 1st floor - Dancefloor, bar, 2nd floor - Bar, booths, stage. If you're going upstairs with more than 6 people, book it and pay (curb these asinine 'Girls nyte outtts!' and dickfests), and maybe a big TV for big events...no MMA.

- No cellphone service (hat tip: MPM...I recently found a nice little no-cell spot in the city that's awesome. I'll never understand why this occurs; Cute girl's Twitter feed - 'I'm having an awesome time texting my friend while at the club!')

- Dress-code - Absolutely no glittery shirts, caps or sneakers...another tip to MPM, I hate that shit.

- No fatties...hard to enforce but I'd kill myself trying. Isn't the 21st century awesome? You can't discriminate against someone based on their age, sex, weight, race or orientation, but if someone smokes they're fair game. I would tell whoever was watching the door to be very discriminating in this regard...obviously a girl-crew of five 8's or higher with the fat friend gets in, but a rolling (hahaha) crew of three fatties gets turned away.

- No cover except on live music night, and none of this 'guys pay $20 cover, chicks pay none' jazz either.

- I would drop bottle service, but come on...where else can you charge $500 for a bottle of Belvedere to unsuspecting wannabe poseurs? Bottle service only in the VIP.

- Co-ed bathrooms...and none of these cologne hocking attendants who demand to be tipped for fucking up your scent.

- Good food, maybe tapas or asian during the day.

- As soon as you get too drunk, you're out on your ass.

...someday.

The day game is dead in SP. NO man approaches a girl around here in ANY situation in this time. ANY. And, if he does, if he doesn't do well (the most creative pic up line ever) seems a stalker (is this spelling correct?) or those weird/awkward men who "try" to make conversation with someone desperate for attention. See what I mean?
Night game here is highly necessary and the best options are the stand up bars, the bar scene itself, even though there isn't a "lounge culture" around here, women are used to be approached in sit down bars occasionally.

I'll save you a shit ton of money and frustration: don't open or buy a club. They are going down the tubes. I sold my 15,000 square foot club 3 years ago and it was the happiest day of my life. what a headache! I'm an experienced operator, and i'd be afraid to open a club these days. You are competing with facebook, sirius, video games, tv, youtube, cell phones, and normal bars where people can actually talk without getting their leg humped on. Those things have changed the club business drastically. HINT: Most clubs are a front to run cocaine money through. They aren't actually turning a profit. if you are dead set on getting into this business I'd recommend holding every position in a nightclub from doorman to manager to barback to bartender for 2 solid years full time and if you still like it, then consider it. Plus you'll need the experience I listed above or you will fail, guaranteed.

I agree with this. I had bad results with day game in sao paulo, especially at malls. Girls would show a lot of interest but wouldn't give their numbers, it was very strange. I remember one chick in particular who I felt I had a higher chance of banging in the changing room than getting her number, even though I made her wetter than a water slide.
