For as long as I can remember, I've been hunting the Internet for an animated gif that can give us one of the core emotions that isn't accounted for in this forum's impressive library of smilies.

There are plenty of decent still images that do an okay job, but nothing worthy of being between the two colons has yet to surface.

   

So, I'm hoping to start an all-points-bulletin search for this elusive emoticon. Drop them in this thread and let's see if can't, one day, find something.

Please note the word animated in the OP. There are plenty of still images. In fact, I've used a picture of a Betamax player in the past.

Hm. I like gifs in general, but I don't see why the :beta: smiley would have to be a gif. We certainly have plenty of successful, widely used smileys that are static pictures, such as facepalm and mindblown2 .

That said, perhaps someone can find a picture of a Betamax player opening a cassette?
