I'm gonna take a shot at it for Lights or any other guy who may have used such an apparently hilarious statement.

When I think about the logic of Lights' statement, there may be some logic if a guy is trying to restrain himself from going into further specifics and sticking to rounding into the tenths rather than rating into the 100ths.

Usually, I stick to quartiles, such as 7.75, 8, and 8.25. I have NOT found the need to break down further; however, i could imagine that if a guy is comparing two girls that are very close on the rating scale, then it may be necessary to get into further detail.

Accordingly, to help to provide a potential logical explanation for lights statement of a solid 8.1, a 8.1 would be rounded for a girl with a rating anywhere from 8.05 to 8.14.

Accordingly, and potentially, a solid 8.1 would be anywhere in the range of 8.12 to 8.14.

A weak 8.1 would potentially be anywhere in the range of 8.05 to 8.08.

Maybe that is what Lights was getting at?

I would let Lights off in providing examples b/c he was explaining his preference for examples that have already been provided to us; however, if Lights has some kind of example at his disposal that would explain his statement better, then I would be interested in seeing it.

Some guys get really refined about their ratings of girls, and it is kind of like a connoisseur of fine wine, they get refined palates. So far in life, my palate has NOT become that refined in these regards, and I may NOT be able to tell the difference between two buck chuck, vin ordinaire and vin vintage - either with girls or with wines.

If Lights (or any other guy) has a different way of thinking about Lights' statement of a "solid" 8.1, then I would be curious to hear any alternative explanation. I already realize that guys can get pretty weird and funny in their statements regarding their personal rating systems, and I find it to be a useful exercise to see what other guys have to say and accordingly to get in further touch with understanding my own preferences.

The trip was actually to another Asian country (flying out from Los Angeles), but there's a layover in Tokyo on the way. I paid $100 extra to stay a few days there. I'm taking 2 weeks off work so I can't stay any longer. I would love to stay longer but in the US you get very little vacation time.

I'm originally from the UK and the legal minimum vacation there is 4 weeks..that's VERY hard to get in the US.

That's a good way of putting it. There are girls who are embarrassed just to be seen walking with a foreigner but who will bang that same foreigner in private.

I still find it interesting that they're so selective about this one particular type of public display of affection. It would be more consistent if they simply avoided any PDA alltogether, but really, you can practically put your hands anywhere you want in a crowded club, touch them anywhere and in any way you feel like, and they're perfectly fine with it, even if their friends are right next to them (as was the case with both girls that particular night, for instance, the first of whom I'd been able to make out with briefly).
