Getting Into State Before Going Out

I did a search and didn't find anything in the forum covering getting into state, and how important it is (if it is at all).

PUA's define being in "STATE" as being in the zone. That feeling of impenetrability, where you feel like you're a bad motherfucker and no one can touch you. Like John Travolta in the club scenes in "Saturday Night Fever".

You can either get into state (or at least start getting in state) before you leave home, or you can get into state (or start getting into state) after you're already out and your night has already started.

Doing it at home is basically pre-gaming, and consists of whatever your pre-game ritual is. Going out cold is just that, going out cold; no pre-gaming outside of cleaning up & getting dressed.

In my experience, those days/nights when I just get up and leave without spending any time getting my state up are far less memorable than the days/nights when I put the time in to warm up. I still have fun either way, but when I warm up & boost my state before I leave home, my game is way more potent, and those are usually the nights where the craziest shit happens.

When I go out and I'm not in state: I have to get myself into a talkative mood. If I'm with a friend, that means talking shit with him until my words flow like Magic Don Juan; if I'm solo, that means short conversations with everyone I walk by until the social momentum builds up. Last time I went out cold & out of state, me & my friend walked around for an hour trying to build that momentum, and I didn't get into state until after I got rejected a couple times, and had a conversation with a butch bartender about Doug Funny's love for Pattie Mayonnaise. A couple of free whiskey shots later I was ready for action. Had fun that night, but nothing crazy...except for going to Clermont Lounge...two words: OLD Strippers.

When I spend an hour getting ready and boosting my state at home: As soon as I walk out the door my game is flowing. I'm feeling good, and I'm ready to run game on anybody. I'm in the zone and I don't give any fucks. Last time I went out already in the zone, I prevented a mini-riot, coached a random nerdy Asian kid into a club make out with a blonde party slut, got a few make outs myself, got a hand job next to the DJ booth (not from the DJ), AMOG'd a 7'0 tall giant (fuck do they feed these kids?), had shots with some dude who turned out to be an RSD student, danced like a coked out Cuban in Miami, had meaningful conversations with 20+ random people throughout the night, turned down a white cougar at the club recruiting black guys for a gang bang, and got served pancakes at iHop by a drag queen (possibly a tranny). Good times.

I do a few different things to get myself into state before going out:

1. Light work-out: gets the blood flowing and wakes me up. Push-ups, jumping jacks, sit-ups, jump rope, shadow boxing. 2-3 minutes of each followed by a light stretch usually does the trick for me.

2. Hot shower. 15 minutes in the heat and I'm clean and loose. I usually wash with dove on a daily basis since it's less harsh than the stuff with fragrances, but I might go with Irish Springs or something with a heavy scent for a night out.

3. James Brown. Blues or Funk depending on what I'm going for that night; do I wanna be cool, laid back, & mysterious, or do I wanna walk around like my dick weights a ton with a "The World Is Mine" attitude. James Brown usually covers both sides. The key part to really getting my state through the roof, I dance like James Brown while I get ready (minus the splits), this shit works. The GOAT.






4. The clothes. Clean & wrinkle free. Look in the mirror, get my shit tight (face, hair, smell, etc.), just the way I want it to look.

5. Walk out the door with one expectation: to absolutely kill it.

My best nights were nights I got into my zone BEFORE leaving the house.

Do you see a difference in your game when you're already in state before going out -VS- leaving the house cold and getting into state while you're out gaming?

How much does boosting your state before going out matter to your game?

What do you do to get yourself into state before you go out?

Too bad that tends to be only 1/10 nights for me at the moment. Nowadays I'm going out with a lot of buddies and my cousin so I don't focus on pre-gaming as much. Preparation on your own is key.

Read G's blog post about Night Prep 8 months ago and have been doing pushups(incline, so fresh blood hits the dome) and the ice over eyes(I use bags of frozen vegetables so they contour to the face better) + eye drops. Somehow it transforms your face and you're not like everybody else with a tired look on their own faces. Girls will see you have a certain "brightness" about you once you engage them. Solid advice ,thanks forum

Good suggestions so far. Only problem I have is that I will often be in a great mood and feeling ready, but then something unexpected takes me out of that mind state and all the prep is a waste (for example traffic on the way to the bar, a long wait at the bar for drinks, friends being late to pick me up, etc.).

One thing that never fails for me is to just approach, and if it doesn't go well just approach again immediately, and then eventually I get in the zone. If I approach and it doesn't go well, and I'm not able to approach again for a while, that can fuck me up and put me in my head.

Another big one for me is the old school 3 second rule. I try to approach immediately when I see a girl I like, and this seems to get me in state and in the moment (almost as if my mind doesn't have time to catch up and start analysing).

I've been doing game for over 10 years but still whether I get into state is so hit or miss.

I've read countless guides on this but never found one that truly was able to consistently get me into state (routine wise).

I think what will get you into state also changes. Eg) when I was new a new lay would put me into state for a week.

Now I can get multiple lays in a week and still be 'out of state'

I love being in state though my results are often 2-10x more. There's definitely a switch that flips in my mind.

Anyone who truly can access this all the time?

The only thing that reliably gets me into state is phenibut+kratom/coffee. Although taking this combo more than once a week is obviously risky.

Otherwise it's mostly random and there is very little I can do to change my state into a social and cheery mood for any meaningful amount of time. In my experience my states tend to be predetermined from the moment I wake up - even if I do things like lifting, listening to music, or drinking before I go out it won't really change anything. Even If I push through and force myself to socialize/open quickly I might feel good for a while but I'll end up feeling redlined and burnt out.

I usually just practice mindfulness and seperate myself from my emotions - it greatly helps me reduce anxiety and other negative emotions, but it does very little to actually get me interested in opening since it usually feels like a waste of time.

bro yeah similar with the state being predetermined when waking up. Why do you think that is? It's like something is going down in sleep. Like how restful it was or perhaps the dreams?

Yeah that combo is decent for sure. There are some other more illegal ones that are even better but I don't want to give away secret combos on a public forum / illegal stuff. Also the stuff that I like the best is hard as fuck to find here.

Mileage may vary, getting in state may be a myth anyway or a placebo effect. There is no perfect time to approach anyway.

My routine: do some hard work during the day. Follow up with sprint workout or weight training. Pump up to some music and have a drink before hitting a bar. Maybe have a cig or some drags from an ecig. Maybe a bit of caffeine. Having a sense of momentum is what I find helps me most... Having a sense of urgency (doesn't always happen when I go out). Chatting with bartenders.

That's about it. Once you get going you keep going as long as you can.

Since recently relocating, going out cold has been a fail for me every time. My success is directly attributed to my prep which consists of essentially everything mentioned above. I was in Las Vegas last weekend visiting a college buddy, and he laughed at my ritual of a 20 minute cardio, 20 minute lift, 20 minute shower before going out. I shut him out 4-0 on pulls for the night.

I would guess that caused it's a combination of how well you slept and your dreams - I tend to believe that dreams impact you in very real and lasting ways even if it's entirely unconscious.

I'm sure there are some better combos but I find phenibut/kratom to be more than enough. I would imagine that GHB would be a great option too though.

I've forgotten about that lately!

Highly recommend getting one of those gel masks or a gel pack with cloth... and if you can, put it on and have a power nap before going out (ear plugs, dark room and ice mask over eyes).

Alternatively, learn self hypnosis and make yourself a recording (or find one) and listen to it with the frozen gel pack on.

If you've been on a computer and have that drained face feel, this'll do the trick and give you a physical and mental reset.

I have found something that ussually works:

Get to the venue early (this is for night game). When you get to a place early (such as a club or social event), you give your mind and body time to warm up to the atmosphere gradually. Sometimes when guys try to get in state, they basically over excite themselves, or get into some kind of weird state that's not synced up with their surroundings. When you show up early to a place, you can take tome to get over feeling awkward or uneasy, claim good real estate at the bar, and generally develop a feeling of familiarity and ease with where you are.

Also, chicks tend to show up to places earlier than guys do. When they do, there you are, the first guy they see - already chill and totally at ease with the surroundings. Maybe you've already started some small talk with the staff when they were not busy, so now you are talkative, and the bartender is on your side. When the chicks first start to show up, they will see you are relaxed and it will make them feel more comfortable around you. When you talk to them, you'll be one of the first to approach, bitch shields will be down, and you can make moves early, before the hoards of thirsties come.

I think it's worth while to spend a few evenings in a night game venue just looking at how the evening evolves, when different groups of people arrive, when the dynamic and mood shifts, etc... when you should be arriving, approaching, not approaching but dancing, etc....

All valuable stuff.

My tip is to stop thinking about state and worrying about being social BEFORE being in the venue. Cross that bridge when you come to it. Since I stopped psyching myself up before going out, I've noticed I'm more pumped when actually being out. Which is what you want anyway. When I was trying to force "state" on myself in the past, I felt I was just stressing myself, draining my energy and getting fatigued by the thought of game alone.

Live in the moment, be present. Don't make it into a big deal.

Having said that, I do believe that physical activity before going out helps you loosen up. I notice when I leave the gym I'm infinitely more energetic and even feeling more social. I don't work out on the same day I go out though, at least not most times.

If it won't matter in 30 years, it doesn't matter now.

That IS the state, how people get there is what this is about. Tricks, hacks and routines work because they pull you into the present.

BTW, not everyone is social when they are run down/tired/zoned out... or introverted.

Getting Into State Before Going Out

What always helped me get in the zone was clowning around with my boys / wing while pregaming. Usually at my apartment we'd drink and kick it while standing in the kitchen (sitting always make you mellow out more, I read somewhere online that you should never sit down when you're out gaming anyway, it lowers your energy). We'd play some high energy music to get pumped and just goof off to get the energy going. One time we all took a shot of pre-work out for laughs, that was a great night.

Another tip I can pass along is warm up girls. My boys and I would hit the town earlier than most (9-10) and just talk to whoever to get the juices flowing. Shooting the bull with some average girls at the bar, no pressure, to get the mental gears lubed and such. I never kept records or anything but this seemed to always get us in a good social vibe.
