There's also the workplace and personal life. Dude had his company all over his twitter thing. So it looks like he is representative of his companies policies? I got confused with Anil Dash's post about the white culture problem.

Seeing where this thread is now, I think it's fucked up he got fired but from a business standpoint I can see why BI made the decision (which was likely for business, not moral, reasons). Once the momentum to get rid of a guy at an organization where he is perceived to be offensive to the tastes of members of its audience and/or sponsors, the battle is already lost. The juice is no longer worth the squeeze for them to support the guy from a financial perspective. They are just too vulnerable to public pressure.

Luckily for the guy who got axed, he probably has valuable skills that are in great demand for him to either do his own thing (which is probably what he wants personally) or to get picked up by someone else. I would feel this way if this was some sort of isolated incident. But personal vilification and indirect economic warfare (boycotts, firings, etc.) against individuals is quickly becoming the default tactic for dealing with contrary opinions and speech you don't like. I can think of at least 6 other high-profile victims of PC mobbing attempts off the top of my head (not counting donglegate). I think it's a very serious problem.
