Lack Of Motivation To Get Work Done. Any Resources To Help?

You should do bloodwork to see full hormonal panel especially on thyroid (T3, T4, etc) and sex hormones (testosterone, E2, etc). If your hormones are out of whack, there's no surprise that you're unmotivated. Also check your dopamine levels, since research has shown that dopamine is highly related to motivation. There's a correlation between testosterone and dopamine. If I am not wrong, increasing your testosterone levels will increase your dopamine levels. If you cannot balance your hormones naturally, you should consider HRT.

Hey all,

So for far too long I have had zero motivation to get my new business off the ground. I've always been a procrastinator, but now I am much worse. I need to get off my ass and get working on my business, but I can't seem to stay focused for more than 30 minutes a day. My money is running out, and if I don't get moving soon, it means back to a day job....which would be fucking miserable.

My question is, do you know of any articles/books/techniques that deal with this issue?

A good, swift kick in the ass is one, but are there blogs/books that deal specifically with this issue of breaking this mental block/pattern that I am in? Techniques to build motivation/working habits?

Basically, I need to build the habit of waking up in the morning, NOT fucking around on the internet, and just working for 2-4 hours. Where can I find some good mental exercises/whatever to help me build this habit?

Or, does someone want to fly to BKK and just kick my ass for me?

I got so much free time its sad. An I pretty much waste it.... have for years. One day I am gonna look back an kick myself in the ass SO HARD.

Fortunately for me it seems as if when looking back at my life it seems I only think about the good times. Hopefully I will stay that way then I wont be depressed later in life when I think of all the time I have wasted....

A big part of it is I've had stomach problems for years. After I eat, I always feel like shit. Headaches, fatigue, bloated stomach, indigestion, etc.

I just ate four eggs and a bowl of oatmeal and already I feel sleepy and have a headache. After I eat, I am fucked for the day.

It also effects my sleep. I wake up in the morning with an upset stomach, and I feel as if I don't sleep well throughout the night. I wake up each morning and I'm still tired and fatigued.

Doctors have been pretty much useless. Had a colonoscopy, and an endoscopy. Doctor was a fool. The very first suggestion he gave to me was to become a vegan, even though I went in with the thought I was gluten intolerant. He said if I become vegan almost every health problem I have will go away, before he even knew what my health problems were or ran any tests.

I believe my problem is either low stomach acid, H. Pylori bacteria, or small intestine bacterial overgrowth. That's from doing my own research. I'll go to the hospital here in BKK next week to have some tests done and hopefully finally find a fucking answer.

Hope you get that shit worked out... You can have all types of cool shit in this world... but if your not in good health it can really make things grim.

I would tell you to clean up your diet and work out an blah blah blah but I'm pretty sure you're already doing all the things I could think to tell ya ha!

Was just gonna say, tried Paleo (w/out eggs)?

If I ate four eggs and a bowl of oatmeal I'd probably feel similar. Many people have autoimmune reactions to eggs - headaches etc - and oatmeal chews up you innards and spikes your insulin (so makes you sleepy).

Try a stir-fry. Like chicken and mixed veg. No carbs. Weird breakfast, yeah, but... well, it works for a lot of people. I'd be willing to bet 3-4 weeks of strict paleo, no eggs, could do you the world of good. If you feel faint from lack of carbs, some coconut chunks or a spoonful of coconut oil will take care of that (the MCFAs are easily used by your body for energy). After a few weeks your body will be "fat adapted" and carb-faintness wont be an issue.

Some of the most commonly reported results are resolution of gut and autoimmune problems, along with nice even-keeled energy levels (no after-carb sleepiness). I can vouch for both - no more stomach aches here.

Best books on it are Mark Sissons "Primal Blueprint" or Robb Wolfs "Paleo Solution".

I can vouch for eggs making me feel like garbage. Have cut them out completely.
