Rocky Mountain Whores! My Denver Review...

I enjoy Capt Power's city guides probably more than most. Also I try to avoid Vegas but not for poon reasons. Denver is just better for a white athletic guy like the Capt, he felt good there. I think those granolas out there would be insulted with 1000 dollar table service when you can buy a new carbon fiber mountain bike fork with that much cash. There's plenty of skinny earthy girls there..possible many threesomes as well.

Denver Negatives:[/u] Denver and the state of Colorado is VERY white. I don't think I saw one Latina, and only a handful of Black people.

Too many homeless hippies. Denver needs to get their homeless situation under control, almost all the parks have homeless hippies sleeping in it, although I never felt unsafe.

I am guessing you didn't get out of downtown much. Denver is very Hispanic...go down West Alameda, East Colfax, etc. Some of the Hispanic areas can be rough. I'll agree about the homeless. It seems they are standing at every interstate exit ramp and camped out in the parks.

My job is headquartered in Denver so I spent a couple weeks there each year for about the last five years. I'd rate it as decent. There are some good-looking, fit women, but the progressive, North Face-wearing, joint smoking scene is not my cup of tea. Nightlife is okay, but closing time is 2am! Way too early!

I recommend going to the Coors Brewery in Golden. You get to try three free beers: ice cold and fresh. Golden also has a cool little downtown with some decent restaurants. In the summer, hit the trail and park along Clear Creek. It is packed with chicks in bikinis wading and floating on tubes in the stream. You can also climb up Lookout Mountain to get a great view of the city and see Buffalo Bill's grave.

Elway's Steakhouse is the spot if you want to bang MILF's. On my last trip to Denver I hit up Gunsmoke, the gunshop featured on Discovery Channel's American Guns. Lucky for me, Paige was there and I got to spit some game.

In the Coors stadium they have a Blue Moon brewery, I had a "smokey" tasting blue moon that was insane....

Maybe I will take a trip out to Denver this winter and drive out to Aspen, try to pick up some snow bunnies : )

I like Captain's data sheets, he speaks his mind. I've always enjoyed the state of Colorado in general, def my favorite place to snowboard.

I want to make it out there next year and try to pull in Breck or Keystone, think it be a challenge.

Denver has no Latinas? Did you leave your wedding group?? I used to live there. Look it up the city is probably 50% Hispanic. They are the only ones who wear heels.

Did you spend your nights in a video game bar (popular in Denver)? When I lived there, I found Denver to have the most jacked and ripped dudes.

I have to agree I lived in aurora for 6 months. Latinas everywhere. Hell I thought about calling it north mexico. Also a club downtown called The Church. Which it was at one time. Tons of latinas.

Vegas sucks and Denver is awesome?

Well, when comparing tallent of the local girls, there's no competition, Vegas wins by a landslide. Where were you at that you were seeing all these fine girls? There are a few places you'll see a good amount, but overall, the city is seriously lacking in tallent. I always laughed when I saw it considered one of the best cities for dating, because the tallent pool is terrible, and even though there are supposedly more women than men, it doesn't seem to be the case when you go out most places. And if you like anything other than white American girls, you'll get bored quick with the local girls. Girls considered high quality here that I'm banging would just be considered average girls in a place like Miami. Denver is the type of place you'd like if you were in to white hippy girls that wear sandals to the bar/club and don't take care of their appearance or hygiene.

As far as having Latinas, yes there are many Mexican girls but a good number of them are ugly/fat.

TCP takes criticism better than anyone on the forum, gotta give him that.

I can see how he liked Denver. I've never been, but I can imagine he enjoyed it because it's probably a complete 180 from living in New York. Probably a refreshing change of pace, but if he stayed there long term, maybe he wouldn't feel quite the same way.

I know anytime I go somewhere other than Bangkok, I love it and want to stay. I think it has less to do with the place I travel to, and more to do with getting away from the shit fucking traffic and pollution of BKK. Seeing a legitimate blue and sunny sky is an amazing thing after being in BKK for 8 months straight.

Yes!

Re Aspen, man it's a super-high end, very expensive town, and I think it's actually a really long drive from downtown Denver. It looks close 'as the crow flies' but actually isn't as you have to circumnavigate a couple big mountain ranges and go out on I-70 then come back down on a slow state road through huge mountains - not even sure some of these passes are open a lot during winter. So would take 4-5 hours +. Pretty drive though. Vail is doable for a weekend trip (and a massive ski resort).

Check out the map:

http://mapq.st/13wOdst

Would add that getting to the friggin airport in Denver is a real hassel - seems like it's at least 45 minutes to the east of downtown, so when you're flying to Colorado to go skiing you generally have a 3+ hour drive to the Front Range ski resorts which isn't ideal. In Salt Lake you're basically an hour to 1.5 hours from all the best places.

Aspen is a 3-4 hour drive depending on when you go. Vail is almost 2 hours. If traffic is bad though could take much longer. I go up to aspen on 3 day weekends.

Vegas is basically one street in the desert...its.a pain in the ass to get around. And the food is mostly chain restaurants inside a casino. Denver is a real city. It has buses, trains, skyscrapers, professional sports teams aka rockies and broncos. ...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the key? I have heard stories that I-70 can turn into a parking lot on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons, and have personally sat in traffic for a couple hours when it was snowing where we were moving along at 15-25 mph tops for what seemed like hours just to get to Breckenridge or Vail.

Also, don't then end up closing the tunnel sometimes due to snowstorms/whiteouts? Dont' want to make it sound crazy difficult but I'd imagine you can't always blow out of town at 4pm on Friday and cruise up into the mountains.

Only small flights (ie expensive) can't have a full length airstrip in the mountains.

Yeah, cause I've done it. I went to Aspen last summer. Great town for the outdoors. I rode mountain bikes and went fly-fishing. Super high end though as someone else mentioned. I don't recall the airport being 45 minutes from downtown Aspen, more like 10 to 20. However, in the winter, with traffic, it could take much longer. Lots of honeys in Aspen. However, I was with the gf, so I didn't get out on the town too much. But, I would go back anytime.

I tried flying to Aspen from Denver once... visibility dropped just as we were about to land, we circled around for about 40 minutes until the plane (small plane) ran low on fuel, and then we turned back to Denver. You will probably encounter that a lot flying into Aspen in the winter.

You can fly in to aspen from Denver, Chicago, and Dallas. There may be one more city they've added recently. Flights to get delayed due to visibility fairly often. It doesn't have much to do with the snow, only visibility. The airport is 10 minutes from downtown. Many of the hotels provide transportation to and from the airport and there are local busses that come by every half hour or 15 minutes depending on the time of year and they're free. Aspen is high end but definitely not as snobby as many people are led to believe. It's really quite a laid back place despite seeing Gucci and LV stores everywhere. Aspen is way better than Denver in my opinion. I'm not a big fan of Denver.

I've busted out a colorado data sheet with a bunch of ski areas, but a separate ski/snowboard data sheet may be a good idea. I have a ton I could contribute. As far as mountain towns go, I've been all over, from California to Colorado, and none I've been to compare to aspen overall.

I really felt many times like he was subtly trolling, am not all that suprised. Not pilling on but he was pretty much saying the exact opposite of what the rest of the forum was saying most of the time re Denver and Vegas (the only two threads of his I've read so far). Was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, as I guess the rest of the forum was it seems. But most of the time it maybe was just that he had a different outlook on gaming, dunno, wondering what it was that pushed him over the edge.

Anyway, as this is a Denver thread, I can agree this thread is pretty sh*t and isn't very informative re game fo sho. It mostly devolved into discussions on ski resort accessibility for those of us who've dealt with the sometimes problematic nature of getting to many of the Colorado resorts (which in my opinion can suck, esp given that Denver's international airport is almost 40 minutes + to the east of the city, so you have to drive an hour through Denver before you're even at the mountains. Of course, the seasonal airports near Aspen and other resorts help out, but there are fewer flights and they often get delayed). Sorry for thread de-rail but it was never really about where or how to work Denver anyway!

But in any case, I like Denver and think it's a great city for outdoorsy-type stuff, it's just not the greatest place to game I'd say.
